An LGBTQ+ Guide to Sydney World Pride's Best Dining, Hotels, and Clubs 2023 | Condé Nast Traveler

"At Mod.Dining, at the spanking new Sydney Modern Project in the Art Gallery of NSW, Clayton Wells, who cut his teeth at the high-end Automata, is slinging casual plates of fried-prawn sandwiches, salt-and-vinegar puffed pork skins, and spanner-crab noodles."

We visited this museum for the first time during our trip to Sydney, and I was so surprised to find such a great restaurant inside. It has an amazing view and serves clean, delicious Asian-fusion dishes, with simple options that even our baby could enjoy. I’m not too sure about the friendliness of the staff, but being able to enjoy beautiful artworks before and after a meal made the whole experience really special. Even if you’re not there for a full meal, it’s a great spot to relax with a coffee. Definitely worth a visit! ❤️

Awesome lovely food, location and staff. Exactly the right combination of taste, class and casual mix. Attentive staff yet casual. One of the nicest I’ve been too. Crying Tiger beef salad and Thai red fish curry. Thank you. Both Delicious. 😀😀😀

The open expanse of the gallery creates a very chilled, calm & quite space for eating. This venue is definitely an experience & one which you should be in the right mind for. The food is a mash of many styles without any (apparent) unifying theme. However everything we had (& it was a banquet) was excellent. Staff are top too and attentive. Cost = huge… this is not the place to bring your kids for a quick bite…

Visited the galleries on a Monday public holiday and stopped here for lunch. Despite being a group of eight, we were seated quickly with little to no wait, which was impressive. At first glance, the menu didn’t sound particularly exciting, but the dishes really surprised us when they arrived—everything exceeded expectations. We had the dumplings, Korean street toastie and spicy white cut chicken , all were delicious, but the real standout was the Japanese cheesecake—absolutely exceptional. It’s a bit on the pricier side for a casual lunch, but worth it. Definitely planning to come back!

We had fantastic Asian fusion food at Mod! Great atmosphere inside a beautifully designed (and free) museum. Would highly recommend the pork dumplings and claypot rice with the best fried eggplant! Thanks for a lovely meal.

Extremely disappointing experience at M.O.D. Dining. Waited over 40 minutes for a chicken dish that came out clearly undercooked — pink and raw (ref to attached pic). I had ordered it for my 5-year-old child, and there’s no way I’d risk feeding something unsafe to a child. When I raised the concern, the staff offered to cook another one but said I’d have to wait again for a long time, otherwise we could just leave. Then the manager came out, looked at the plate, and said “the chicken is normal.” You can clearly see from the photo that it wasn’t. No apology, no accountability. We left, disappointed and frustrated. For a restaurant inside the Sydney Moderns Art Gallery, I expected far better standards — both in food safety and customer service. This experience was unacceptable and reflects poorly on the venue’s management and training.

Went for lunch and it was delicious! The service was amazing. Food came out fast. The king fish with crispy nori was delightful. And the vegetarian crispy rice in the claypot was divine. Really enjoyed the experience here!!

Really enjoyed the food here, especially the crispy fried eggplant and the pork dish, to be honest every dish was delicious (we went with the banquet). The cocktails are next level and so unusual, tasty and look so beautiful! The watermelon granita for dessert was so refreshing! Service was also good, staff very friendly and attentive.
