Another Harvest Host win!
We'd already stayed at most of the Harvest host locations in the area, and opted to try Modales this time. We liked it so much, we signed up to join as members, and plan to have this be our last stop of the day when we explore this region in the future.
They have a pretty savvy strategy it seems to me, in that they stay open later than most wineries (8 pm on our fall Friday night visit), which makes this a no-brainer last stop on your winery tour if you're exploring the area. Their wines are also a massive upgrade from much of the region, and they seem to specialize in dry, which is our palate preference.
They offer some light nibbles to accompany your wine tasting, but we had just finished a delicious dinner in Saugatuck, so we can only speak to the wine.
I was as dazzled by the rose and whites as my husband was by the dry reds (particularly a red blend that we sampled a vertical of -- with the more recent vintage being grown separately and the 2018 version having been grown together).
All the staff was incredibly present and it seemed like many of the folks who were there on our recent visit were members. If you're a wine lover who lives anywhere within an hour of here it's a no-brainer to join their wine club. You got a whopping six complimentary flights or glasses per month per membership, Plus discounts on your wine purchases and discounts on the many food and wine pairing events they host throughout the year.
We are extremely grateful that they partner with Harvest Host, because after all of that wine we were very glad we only needed to stumble back to our camper van in their field instead of driving somewhere! Both sunrise and sunset here are spectacular, too.
