Modern Adventure

Modern Adventure outdid themselves on the trip I just took to Naples & Sicily with Chef Elizabeth Falkner and our awesome guide Jaime Hanson. It was the most memorable, tastiest and relaxing experience. Every detail was covered with precision. The food was over-the-top. The tours were planned just right with local guides. Most importantly, the group bonded immediately and made it the "best ever" vacation I've taken. Thanks so very much to everyone who planned and participated in this experience. Oh yea, I couldn't believe how much food I could actually consume, but it was so tasty thanks to Chef Falkner and the locals!!!

I can't say enough about this company that exceeded all my expectations for a high-end group tour. The food, hotel choices, company guide, local guides and experiences were all top notch. They think of everything and have a plan B for everything should you want, from spending the day chilling or to find a specific item on your shopping list. The smaller group size made it easier to get around without a huge bus and you felt more VIP as opposed to other tour companies. They are true professionals!

This is a top notch tour company. Our guide for Oaxaca, Florencio, could not have been more knowledgeable and passionate about showing us the rich history and culture. I’m going home a richer person! Many thanks to the team at Modern Adventure!

Went on the "Vietnam with Nini Nguyen" tour. Modern Adventure has these tours that they pair with a tastemaker, and the pairing that they did here was awesome. I didn't know who Nini Nguyen was until I took this tour, but now I'm a big fan. Nini is a Food Network celebrity chef, but she was so accessible and friendly. She introduced all of us to her favorite foods and places in Vietnam. If something wasn't on the curated tour schedule that she felt we needed to experience, she worked with Modern Adventure to revise our itinerary. The food experience was mind blowing. We had fruits we've never enjoyed, seafood that was unbelievable, herbs with funky tastes, and lots of fish sauce. Vietnamese street food can be scary, but it was delicious. The non-food experiences were pretty awesome too. The experiences included the typical historical and religious sites, but we also got to experience cruises, a bike ride, cyclo tours, a basket boat ride (technically there was fishing but that is stretching it), and a Vespa tour that gets your blood flowing. Extra points for the excellent local tour guide that stayed with us the entire tour. He was on top of every aspect of our adventure making sure everyone enjoyed the tour; and since he was formerly a history teacher explained history, culture, and current events a we explored the country. He was in constant contact from the day we arrived to the day we left Vietnam. Definitely would go on another Modern Adventure tour when I find the right adventure.

My best friend and I wanted to go on a special trip together to make new memories. We did lots of research and picked a Modern Adventure trip to Vietnam in January of 2024. It sure gave us new memories, but for all the wrong reasons! I would never, ever recommend a trip with this company. Leading up to the trip, the planning and service was terrific. The disaster happened once we were there in Vietnam. After enjoying the first few days of the trip, my friend and I got COVID, possibly from someone else in the group. We assumed the trip guides would know how to handle this, how to both get us care and protect the rest of the group. Instead, the Modern Adventure leadership and management were AWFUL. They treated us like we had done something terrible, never offered us a way to get medical help or support, and even created a weird group dynamic where other group members seen talking to us (even outside or from a distance) were scolded. We felt effectively forced to leave the tour to fend for ourselves in a foreign country. The experience with Modern Adventure was totally disappointing and demoralizing. Although the company did reach out to try to apologize for what happened on the trip, I would warn those planning a trip to be sure that they know independently how to navigate a crisis because the company clearly had no idea what they were doing.

We had an amazing time in Oaxaca Mexico. From the accommodations to the dining, to the chef guide and to the local guides, everything was top-notch. Would definitely recommend it would do again.
