For some reason I cannot quite fathom, this is one of my favourite museums in the world. The other day was my third visit over many years. Although the first floor was not yet open due to renovations, the art and the renovations thus far on the ground and 2nd floors were exceptional. There's something about the quality of the collection and it's setting in this beautiful timbered building that just captures everything I want to find in an art gallery. And the new sculpture garden, even, if not especially, in a light drizzle, was a wanderable joy. (Try translating that Google.) So if you're anywhere in France and you want a really pleasurable modern art gallery experience in a beautiful small town of ancient buildings, canals and countless restaurants, well, this is the place to be.
