Moderne Burger

This is a delightful burger joint. If you are tired of the ubiquitous chains, this is the place to go for tasty burger fare, and a touch of nostalgia. The colourful 50s Deco-inspired decor adds character, and hints at the pride the owners have in their product - delicious burgers, lovingly crafted. My steak burger was cooked medium to perfection. Toasted bun, fresh onions and crisp lettuce - all embellishments contributing to a great-tasting burger. The fries are worth the trip alone, hand-cut and expertly prepared. To top it off, I had a chocolate malt shake. The shake was thick, creamy and full of that satisfying earthy malt flavour. Moderne is only a 5 minute walk from Broadway-City Hall station, making this an easy detour re-route on the Canada line.

My first time a Moderne Burger today, the owner asked me about my 50s style Italian sunglasses and talked about his restaurant very friendly gentle man. I ordered a double cheeseburger with all the fixings ,fries and a creamsicle shake my son had the same thing only a single burger though. The burger was delicious top quality, excellent bun not to big. The fries are definitely the best I've had and the milk shake was yummy.

Excited to try the return of Modern Burger. You do have to temper your expectations as this is a new concept Burger joint. I have to say, I was a bit surprised to see that the new location occupies a spot that used to be a Wendy's in one of those Tim Horton / Wendy combo restaurant. The steak Burger was good. The bun is crusty on the outside but soft on the inside. Simple condiments with options to add-on cheese and bacon. I miss the juicy patty that requires you to grab a napkin after every bite. The Burger is good, but the smaller patty does prevent that eruption of Burger goodness after every bite. Fries were fantastic. They shouldn't be skipped. Golden and crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the outside. Consistently over various sizes of fries. The taste of potato is pronounced and satisfying. Fries are cooked to order and come out piping hot. Cheeseburger, reg. fries, reg drink was about $13. Not bad price point. It is way above fast food in terms of quality so your money is well spent. I wish there was a combo option only because these fries are a must try. Personally, when I do not see a combo option I skip the fries, which would be a shame in this case. It would also be nice if they had a food runner instead of having customers claim their order at the front. Again, snych your expectations. It isn't the same exact experience, but it is satisfying.

Best burgers and fries in town, always fresh, burger is ground steak, fries are cooked to order. Very consistent been going here for a few years never had a bad experience owners are great friendly welcoming people.

Visited this place for lunch today, and it was okay. The staff were nice, but service wasn’t exceptional. I had a steak burger with cheese and bacon, and fries. Both were good, but again not exceptional. The price is similar to Veras and Fatburger, and there isn’t as much of a selection. I won’t be repeating as I think Fatburger is a better option.

@moderneburger has been a childhood favourite of ours; however, we will not be visiting again anytime soon. . . We finally got to visit the new location. Their burgers were delicious and the shake was supreme as usual. However, it was disappointing to see their staff wearing a mask as a chin guard. Needless to say, we will not be going back until the pandemic is more under control unfortunately.

There's nothing better than a classic burger & fries! We'll always try to go here whenever we're in the area and we're always greeted so warmly by the owner—he's awesome!

You wonder how does a place survive on just selling "burgers"? Well these are the best burgers in town in my opinion and cringe when I read the few negative reviews. They should have spoken up, because thes owners ACTUALLY care about the food they serve. These burgers are delicious, fresh, and made to your liking. My go to is BBQ sauce, cheddar, and mushrooms and all the veggies. Home cut fries: ask for them crispy or soft. Don't be shy, the owners are super nice and genuinely friendly. They will be closing for a few months and open up elsewhere - hoping I don't go into serious withdrawal!
