On our ring road adventure last week we decided to take a detour to rest at this spot. We were not disappointed. Friendly staff. Perfectly great accommodation. We were self sufficient with power and food so we only used WC (bathroom) and sleeping. However the unique cooking facilities would have been fun in my opinion! The shower spaces and toilets were clean and plentiful. The goats are friendly and surprisingly soft! The reindeer and bunnies are a little more elusive. A camp dog (black lab) greeted us and we were happy to share a moment relaxing with him. Too bad we already had food to use in our camper van because the breakfast buffet smelled amazing ! Nice little community. A fun respite. And pretty good sunset the night we stayed.

This was my favorite place we stayed in Iceland, which is saying a lot considering the other wonderful properties we visited. This is like a tiny village set far back in the country. As we drove in, a herd of long horned goats were trotting down the road, and Tova the Fjalladyrd reindeer came to greet us when we pulled in. The lovely sod buildings and church added to the charm. We had both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. They offer several traditional Icelandic recipes on the menu, such as Moss Soup, farm raised lamb, reindeer, and cod. I don't know that I would want to eat Moss Soup everyday, but it was a great experience to try it. Breakfast was very good the next morning. Our family group of five stayed in the large cabin. We were very comfortable. The only thing that would have made our stay even better is if there was a bathroom on the 2nd floor where most of the bedrooms were located. But we so enjoyed our stay that we considered that a mild inconvenience to walk downstairs for the restroom. Absolutely lovely setting, friendly service, lovely historic buildings all made this a wonderful, memorable stay!

Very beautiful and scenic place, surrounded by nature with animals roaming freely in the field. The campsite is spacious. Equipped with clean showers and bathrooms. The cottage is nice and well-maintained. Recommended for an overnight stay.

We stayed in this campsite with our roof tent and had a great time! Staff was friendly, check in was easy, bathrooms were clean. Shared kitchen is small but there is a sink and a gas stove. Large men’s and women’s toilets with a mixed gender shower with three individual showers. A line formed quickly but the water was warm!

Extremely beautiful area with all the basic amenities (shower, kitchen, bathrooms, restaurant). There’s a small shared kitchen(stove) with plates, pans, utensils, and tables. Note: the kitchen is very compact, but if you’re patient, you’ll be able to prepare your food. Just be mindful that it gets busy, try to keep meals simple and quick, as everyone is trying to move along. They also have a free roaming dog and a elk

Pretty good! Small kitchen available, sink outside for teethbrushing and 2 showers available (at a charge more). People are very friendly and lot of animals around. Possibility to do breakfast there.

This is one of my favorite spots in Iceland and I've stayed here twice on 2 different trips. It's really remote, but if you want to experience Iceland without the throngs of tourists, this is the place to be. The hotel and guesthouses are beautiful wood construction with traditional sod roof and walls, but you wouldn't know it from the inside. The hotel rooms are modern with a common sitting area for coffee and tea. No television, but free wifi.. The first time I was here an arctic fox was roaming the property. The second time there was a local reindeer who would come right up to new arrivals. The restaurant menu is traditional Icelandic wild game and farm raised meat. We wish we had time to stay here for several days. Highly recommended!

SUCH AN AMAZING PLACE!!! This was my family’s favorite campsite on our trip. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. The people were SO very kind and the environment was strait out of a movie. This is a must stop campsite if in the area!
