10 sparkling wine estates to visit around the network - SilverKris

"Founded in 1743 and headquartered in Épernay, this historic champagne house is regarded as a benchmark for classic Champagne style, producing reliably strong, consistent bubbles. Visitors can tour the cellars to learn about its long heritage and finish with tastings; the estate follows seasonal opening patterns, closing for winter and reopening in early February with expanded daily hours from April through November." - Saul Lipchik

Google
Wonderful vintage tour at Moët & Chandon. Marie Filomene Martins was an outstanding guide—warm, engaging, and full of insight. The history, the art, and the stunning cellars made the visit unforgettable. Everything felt polished and beautifully presented. Our tasting of Dom Pérignon 2015 was the perfect finale.

Chan Woo P.

Google
Loved this tour! The guide was super friendly and explained the champagne-making process in a fun, easy-to-follow way. Walking through the massive underground cellars was such a cool experience — you really get a sense of the history and scale behind Moët & Chandon. The tasting at the end was the perfect finish. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Épernay! 🍾

Google
My visit to Moët & Chandon in 2014 was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. From the stunning cellars to the fascinating history and exceptional champagne tasting, every moment was unforgettable. We would definitely love to do it again

Google
Waw! Impressed by the ambassador Mrs Violetta who was in charge of the guided visit ‘Signature’ tour that we participated today. It’s impressive to be in the elegant estate, to discover the history of Moët & Chandon and to walk through the huge network of underground cellars. The tasting is sophisticated and very good organized.

Celeste B.

Google
Hugo was a terrific guide—professional, kind, and decisive in keeping the tour moving. The Signature Tour offered a clear overview of the champagne making process for novices as well as detailed information so everyone could learn something. The caves and tasting room were unforgettable and well worth the price, though I could have skipped (or shortened) the special exhibit at the beginning of the tour. A memorable Moët & Chandon experience! 🥂🍾

Google
We visited Moët & Chandon in July 2025 as part of our anniversary celebration and were captivated by the history, elegance, and craftsmanship behind every bottle. The cellar tour was immersive and educational, the champagne tasting exceptional, and the gracious hospitality of the staff made it a truly unforgettable experience.

Google
This was an excellent tour. Our guide was knowledgable and engaging. The cellars are very large and interesting. I would highly recommend this professional and beautiful tour.

Google
We traveled with our colleagues to the Champagne region to visit its most famous champagne houses. The tour took us through an exclusive exhibition, then we descended into the cellar to be in the heart of the history of this winery, walked through dimly lit corridors with amazing stories from our guide and went out to the garden to continue listening to our guide already with a glass of beautiful champagne 🥂 Cheers

Yelp
We got off to slow start with our tour guide here but by the end left feeling good about our time here. Think dignified, royal, fancy and that's your experience at Moët. The tour covers art, history, and of course champagne. A beautiful modern gift shop will await you at the end of your tour.
google avatar

Yelp
Greta tour! This place is huge, and there is so much history. The 2016 edition brut was great. Obviously everything is expensive here, but it was the best tour.
google avatar

Warren A.

Yelp
We opted for the tour which was excellent. You get to see were all the magic happens and get to sample 2 champagnes in the end.

Yelp
We took the train out to Epernay to go to Moet and Chandon for a tour and a tasting. This definitely didn't disappoint and if you are a wine/champagne lover this has to be on your list of things to do. We got to explore their cellars and hear the history of champagne and how it is made. It is a very beautiful building with beautiful decor with a gift shop where you can buy champagnes aren't sold anywhere else. The staff is super friendly and you can tell they are passionate champagne and preserving the legacy and process of the wine. This is an easy train ride and walk from the train station once you arrive in Épernay.

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink at their gorgeous bar. They had clean bathrooms available, and lots of comfortable seating in their bar. We did a tasting and had a vintage and non vintage champagne to compare. The bartender explained everything to us in English, and provided us some water as well. We did not have time to do a tour, but hope to the next time we come back!

Yelp
What a great tour to take when visiting the quaint town of Epernay...! We visited on a chilly Sunday morning after taking the train from Paris and of course, had to stop at a local bakery for a croissant before the tour. We took the Grand Vintage tour (50 € each) and had a great guide, Mohammad. The tour was about 1.5 hours through their actual cellars which was neat to explore. We ended with a tasting of their 2015 vintage and rose vintage selections and added on the extra to taste it with crisp and briny caviar. They have a massive gift shop where you can purchase many varieties of their champagne (from ice to vintage to dom!). Interestingly enough, we timed it where they were offering Sunday High Tea (we spent a lot of money here that day). After purchasing the tickets, we were guided across the street to the "guest homes" and had a lovely afternoon of tea, champagne and more sweets!

Yelp
What a way to start our Paris vacation! A little jet-lagged, yes, but the perfect antidote was our day trip to Epernay. We braved the train system - rather easy to navigate and had a scenic ride into the countryside. Once there, we made our way to Moët & Chandon. It was like being at the gates of champagne heaven. The tour was interesting and informative as we wend our way through the underground caverns where thousands of bottles of bubbly are stored. Then the moment of truth! The tasting! By this time we were all ready for a sip (or two...three...) and we eagerly lined up for our glasses. We were not disappointed. There was also a great gift shop where we could buy bottles, so buy we did! The new Moët Ice Champagne was perfect for our hot Hawaii weather so we invested in a few to bring home. Of course, all of that work made us thirsty again, so we paused for another glass of the good stuff under a patio umbrella. And then it was time to return to Paris...and to plan the next day's adventure through the City of Light!

Yelp
Came here on a champagne tour and it did not disappoint. After walking the tunnels and seeing the champagne being made, you're escorted to a private room to sample two different types of champagne. The on-site prices are very reasonable. I recommend saving some room in your luggage to bring champagne home!

Yelp
A must when visiting France. A champagne connoisseur, this was top of places to visit. It was a 3 hour car ride into the countryside of Epernay, France, from Paris. We hired a driver. The cellars and history of Moët & Chandon are both magnificent. Like nothing I ever experienced. We learned so much. I highly recommend taking a tour when you find yourself coming to France. A once in a lifetime experience.

Yelp
I loved our tour at Moet & Chandon. I'll be the first to admit I'm not big on bubbly (unless served w high tea) or white wine (pretty much a hard no for me always). I'm a pretty strictly red wine only type but being in France I knew I had to experience Champagne in Champagne. I booked our cave tour about a month in advance and we had no issues whatsoever once arriving. We rode the train in from Paris and did one of the first morning tours. The caves are magically impressive dating back to 1717 and 17 miles long if my memory serves me correctly. I had read and heard that the humidity in the caves is around 90 percent. Ladies, don't worry about your hair mine survived, although I did ask my friend a few times if it was getting out of control ;) Our tour guide was so delightful and really made the tour nice, her energy was just so pleasant. This champagne is elegant and delicious! I could very well, sit here all day sipping it flute by flute. I'd say a tour at Moet & Chandon is the perfect beginning to your day on Avenue de Champagne. There's really something so peaceful and serene about walking around above 200 million bottles of champagne under your feet. Like, yea - wrap your head around that.

Yelp
Excellent tour of a major champagne house in Epernay. I have no regrets choosing Epernay over Reims or booking this tour. We booked online and the house is very easy to find from the train station. Make sure you check in with them so you get your tour and tasting ticket. Our guide was hilarious and quite knowledgeable. This isn't an in depth history lesson but a fun informative tour. It was fun to experience the history and caves and then have the tasting in a luxe modern setting. Our sommelier was great and super informative as well.

Yelp
Fun and interesting tour. I'm really not a fan of tours, but found this one to be worth the time - glad I did it, and would recommend. Anyone that likes champagne and has the opportunity to visit should take the tour. Even if you have done many wineries and think they are all the same, you will probably still learn something here.

Yelp
When you think of famous champagnes what come to mind? Dom Perignon and Moët & Chandon both are made by the same house and this tour is magnificent. The tour guide was fluent in multiple languages and very knowledgeable about the process and history. The tasting at the end of the tour helped me to appreciate the flavors therein. Tips to make your visit a success: 1) Dress for the cellars. While the temperature in the region and the facility by comfortable the cellar will be chilly. The cellar is kept at about 50°F (10°C) and a sweater, jacket or shawl will keep you focused on the tour and not the cold. 2) Prepare to walk. The cellar is roughly 17 mi (27 Km) and you won't walk nearly that much in the wrong kind of shoes it can seem like a trek. So don't forget to look great and sensible for this tour. If you're in France make the trip to this house if you're not in France then find a way to get here, you'll love this place.

Yelp
The Mr suggested a last minute detour to Epernay on our way back home to Germany, and a visit to Moet et Chandon. We had read that reservations were recommended but we took a chance & so incredibly happy we did! They had an opening on an english-speaking tour that was due to start in 20 min so we got a nice opportunity to freshen up from our drive & be ready in time Our guide was very knowledgeable in the winery & our cave tour was extremely informative - we started with a video that showed how they gather grapes from all over the region to create their wines and that their master-chef (I forget the term) actually designs their Imperial bottles so they taste the exact SAME every vintage year. Only when this person deems a harvest to have extraordinary qualities do they elect to create a batch from that one year's varietal & those are the bottles that contain an actual year on the label We also learned how they manually turn & process some bottles & the personal touch goes into every product they make.......including the scrumptious Dom Perignon I suggest getting the Reserve Tasting so you can enjoy a couple of nice glasses at the end of the tour & before going into the giftshop to indulge in the deliciousness you just sampled

Yelp
Located in the real champagne capital and on Épernay's main attraction Avenue de Champagne is Moët & Chandon. The l'âge gift shop is open to everyone. The cellar tour includes the history and aging if both Moët & Chandon and Dom Perignon. Our guide was wonderful. Tours are offered in both french and english. Group size is small and masks are required to adhere to COVID guidelines. Price is based on your tasting preference. I selected the Vintage tasting. I was disappointed that the Vintage wines where served in a flute. A wine producer knows that vintage wine deserves proper glassware to express the wine. The sommelier tried to find a better suited glass but was unable to find one. This is a good starting point in Épernay to see a massive producer to compare to small producers. Recommend booking online.

Yelp
So happy I got to come here as part of my Champagne tour in France. Moet et Chandon and Veuve Clicquot are as good as it gets. The tour is really nice, and I believe it comes in four languages: French (obviously), English, Spanish and Japanese. The woman who gives the English tours has an extremely thick accent, but we were able to get the gist of what she was saying. When we first walked in, we split into different groups to make the group smaller and also by language of instruction. We started by watching a short movie about the history of the winery (as well as Dom Perignon). We then stood in the courtyard and were given the history of Moet and Chandon families and how they came together, as well as how Dom Perignon was joined at one point. Then the tour began. It was interesting to see the caves downstairs, which were very huge and long. There were also pretty cool art displays throughout. It was nice to see all the different barrels and go through the process of making the champagne. The best part however was the champagne tasting at the end of the tour. We tasted three different champagnes (Brut, Rose and Nectar). There were leftover glasses of champagne at the end, so I was lucky enough to get a few more sips. In the end, I ended up purchasing a limited edition bottle of Rose that came in a really pretty pink tin with a ribbon. I can't wait to pop it open on a special occasion...like when I finally get engaged. FYI: the tour I went on was over $200. There are cheaper ones but they won't take you to the nicer wineries.

Yelp
We came as part of a group tour and took the tour in English. Our guide was very interesting and lively. She had a great sense of humor and lots of fun facts in addition to the basic info about process. Some information overlapped with the tour of G. H. Mumm in Reims, but there was also a lot of new information. For instance, there are 18 miles of tunnels on three levels where the champagne ages for this company alone. We also learned about Dom Perignon, which used to be associated with Moet as one company but now is a separate company. The process is very labor intensive which explains why it costs so much. The best part, of course, was the tasting. Moet is an excellent champagne and although we've had it before, we came away with a renewed appreciation and thirst for more. Unfortunately, no tasting for Dom. They have a gift shop at the end where you can buy bottles to take home. Excellent tour and highly recommended!
google avatar

Brendie W.

Yelp
The tour was a bit stuffy and self-important but touring the caves was definitely a neat experience. The best part of the experience is the tasting (splurge for the tasting of the vintage). It was an easy transition from the tasting to the gift shop where my group promptly bought up bottles of champagne (both Moet and Dom). The tour guide, who which was a older lady from china, was rude and pushy to get us through the tour. She rolled her eyes if you had questions and made you feel stupid for asking anything, She ruined the tour for my husband and I on our honeymoon, They need to get better tour guides for such a nice champagne cellar. I probably won't need to visit any other champagne houses or caves in the future but I appreciate the experience at Moet and trust that this is probably one of the better champagne houses in the region. We were very lucky to have been able to tour during the off season as well.

Yelp
It was a good tour, the guide was knowledgeable, but based on a friend's recommendation I thought we'd learn more about the history of the chalk caves and the Nazi involvement with Moet & Chandon and the region...instead it was just (what I'd consider to be) a standard tour of a winery. I'd heard that Moet had blocked off miles of their caves so when the Nazis came they only found a lot of champagne, not 90% of the champagne which had successfully been concealed. Maybe my friend was wrong, but the problem is that we made a special trip to Epernay just for this and....well, I'm glad I did it (I guess?) but unless you're making an event of going to the region and touring several places, I wouldn't make a special trip just to go to Moet. The guide and the woman who poured (I'm guessing not a sommelier since she said she'd been there 2 months only) were friendly and made recommendations for a place to eat dinner. The restaurant was Le Theatre, and it was just ok and not cheap. I went on the Korbel tour in Guerneville, CA (wine country, near Napa) a couple of years ago and it was basically the same tour. If you're coming to the region anyway, go on the tour. But don't come to Epernay just for this tour.

Yelp
Seriously, as good as it gets. What a wonderful tour to start our wine journey in France! This was an epic tour from start to finish. We lucked out by showing up without reservations and waited only 5 minutes and it turned out to be almost a private tour of 3 people. There's information on the family, then a champagne video, but the best part starts as we take the walk through the cave cellars which are unbelievable and are almost 28 km long. Over 2 million bottles are produced here annually so imagine all the product that needs to be worked with and all the people who help with the harvest and production. It gets a little difficult to breathe as you walk through a maze like never ending halls, but it's so educational and full of history. It's hard to imagine that it's almost 300 years in the making. The vintage tasting at the end was completely worthy of the price. I highly recommend the vintage tasting as it only has the exceptional years of harvest. I'm more champagne intelligent after this tour. Highly recommeded as you visit the rue de champagne in Epernay!

Kala J.

Yelp
The tour was small, just enough people to not be oversized and overbearing. Our guide Joanna was so cute and knowledgeable. I loved her accent but in the beginning it was hard to understand her, as we went on, it got easier. They could tell you or post a sign that you'll need a jacket for the tours, I'm not a drinker, wine connoisseur and really only attended because my friends were interested so it did not even occur to me. The facility is beautiful! From the entrance to the cellar it is all well laid out. I tried the Moet, one glass but my friends tried both the Imperial and the Rose' I believe they're called. I didn't like it, not my cup of tea for lack of a better term but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and am glad that I went on this tour. It was relatively inexpensive and I learned some new things about the Monk Dom Perignon. Who knew?!
google avatar

Audrey H.

Yelp
This was the second tour we did on the same day. There are a lot of people in our group this time. This was also a quicker tour. Nothing too special except for when you get to see the Dom Perignon in the caves and the ones on display at the store. I have to say our tour guide wasn't too knowledgable about the making of the champagne. She only knew the basic to tell us and when questions were asked she responded with, "I don't know." Then quickly moved on to the next thing. Ruinart Tour was the best for us in the knowledge of making champagne and it was a classier tour. Didn't make us feel like it was a tourist location like here at Moët & Chandon. I did learn a lot about how Moët & Chandon does their champagne. Which I wish I knew when I was selling in the clubs. I do know how most of Moët & Chandon and Dom Perignon taste. I just didn't understand the difference between certain bottles in years and the ones with out years. This tour did clear up all of those questions.
google avatar

Yelp
First class experience is always to be expected from properties associated with LVMH. Beautiful property with a great history.
google avatar

Mikhail V.

Yelp
Informative but useless visit. The only thing that was useful about was them showing the cellars. 'cause they are enormous. But overall I found that the smaller producer makes for a better champagne. The visitor has to be on time and will be shown the video of the champagne making process, then they will be talked to about how Moet et Chandon exceeds the legal requirements when making their champagne, you will hear that they are the largest producer of champagne in the world but for 23 euro each from a group of about 20 I would have expected to be able to taste more than one and possibly better quality champagnes. That didn't happen so I am pretty disappointed with the visit and Moet et Chandon champagne. BTW, Dom Perignon is a separate visit even though the champagne is produced at the same location.
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
In case you didn't know, MOËT does not have a silent T. The tour is very polished and very elegant. The house is grand and you learn about the history of Moët & Chandon. One of the three major houses I would recommend to visit along with Veuve and Ruinart (all owned by the same parent company).
google avatar

Claire J.

Yelp
We did the €30 tour. Just the right amount of time and info (an hour plus tasting) and two delicious glasses of fizz in the tasting. Interesting without being too detailed and over the top - if you want the latter you can ask as many questions as you like too!
google avatar

Kimberly V.

Yelp
This was my third time at Moet et Chandon and my very favorite! We were staying at a chateau outside of Epernay and decided to have our concierge set up a day of champagnery tours for us and this one was definitely on my 'return and must do again' list. To me Dom is the king of all bubbly. The caves underneath the grounds are massive and full of rich, VERY rich history. You can see why bubbly costs so much! We opted for the English tour and private tasting. Well worth the price! We ended up leaving Moet et Chandon with several bottles of Champagnes that you can not find the in United States. Man were our bags heavy once we checked them on our flight from Paris! It will always be my favorite champagnery in France; the town of Epernay outside of the golden gates of Moet is worth exploring. And working off that bubbly buzz you are sure to have off the generous champagne pours! Voila!
google avatar

Guy V.

Yelp
A champagne tasting and a history lesson all in one, you really cannot get any better than a tour of the Moet & Chandon cellars in gorgeous Epernay. Our tour was led by the most charming woman, who explained the history of Moet & Chandon, from its founding to its place in the hearts of royalty like Napoleon and Madame Pompadour. You walk through the cellars, which were originally carved by hand and go on for 18 miles! Along the way, you learn all about the way Champagne is made and the many little details that go into the process (the differences in the skins of grapes, the yeasts, the riddling of the bottles, etc). The tasting at the end allows you the choice between trying the Vintage Champagne and the Imperial Champagne, where you will feel nothing short of absolutely royal. Overall, this tour is chock-full of fascinating information and will give you a new found appreciation for champagne and the beautiful culture behind every bottle. Every time I see a bottle of Moet & Chandon, I think back to this day. I highly recommend this unique experience, as it has turned into one of my most fond memories of France.
google avatar

Yelp
Phenomenal tour! Moet is the oldest champagne house and has kilometers and kilometers of underground cellars. The English-speaking tour guide did a great job answering questions and offering plenty of information on the history of the house and the process of making champagne. The highlight was our post-tour tasting of two varieties of Moet, then a stop at the gift shop to pick up some bubbly. I would highly recommend a tour of this historic champagne house!
google avatar

Vanessa L.

The best customer service we encountered was in the gift shop where we were helped by a young gentlemen who did not exhibit any of the haughtiness or condescension of our tour guide. I probably won't need to visit any other champagne houses or caves in the future but I appreciate the experience at Moet and trust that this is probably one of the better champagne houses in the region. We were very lucky to have been able to tour during the off season as well.
google avatar

Donna H.

Yelp
This is one of the more expensive tours, but worth it. The original caves have pick marks where they were hewn. The tour goes through entire process of winemaking.
google avatar

Emi H.

Yelp
If you like to hit the bubbly then make this a MUST SEE attraction to be placed on your travel itinerary! Yes, traveling outside of Paris is a day trip but there's lots of different things to weave into your day that makes the trip worthwhile. During our stop here, they gave us a tour which covered the history of estate and walked us underground through the cellars which are filled with thousands of bottles. So much rich history and passion in one place. My favorite part of the experience was the sampling portion of course LOL! Making champagne is truly an art and it makes popping a bottle of bubbly for a special occasion much more meaningful! 31 Yelps Challenge: #23/31

Yelp
I have a friend that believes that if most people know about a Champagne house then it's no longer good. Why? Because the popularity causes said house to have to keep up with the prodcution and things like outside sourcing causes quality to go down. However Dom Perignon maybe one of those rare exceptions. In fact I would say this is one of the revelatory Champagnes for me. Up until I had this I had no idea I would really actually like Champagne but then I'd really had some sub par product. When Daniel Humm of Eleven Madison Park was in town at Campton Place, they handed me a glass that made me do a double take. Well guess what? It was Dom Perignon. Absolutely fantastic.
google avatar

Kendra O.

Yelp
I visited Moet & Chandon as part of a Champagne region tour. We also toured Mumms, and I was glad that we ended with Moet & Chandon since it was a more impressive facility and tour. The tour really emphasizes the time-consuming nature of the production of champagne and makes you appreciate its value, and specifically, the Moet & Chandon product (Dom Perignon in particular).

Yelp
Wonderful and professional tour at Moet&Chandon! I highly recommend making reservations for tours early especially the English speaking ones. I was went late October and many of the time slots were booked and was lucky to get one that fit well in our schedule. As you enter the beautiful Champagne House. the doorman will lead you to the beginning of the tour. You are able to read the history of the champagne house with plaques lined around the walls that go into detail. Our tour guide was knowledge and very professional. We were able to go into the caves to see where Moet stores its champagne bottles. The tour included a history on champagne and the process of how you make, bottle and distribute. The tour guide went into the history of the champagne house in detail and was open to any questions. We ended our tour in the tasting rooms where the sommelier explained the particular Brut we were tasting. The beautiful room is a wonderful photo op. I would highly recommend visit Moet & Chandon as the champagne house is full of history, world renowned and of course the maker of Dom!
google avatar

Blayke L.

Yelp
Tour was worth it. Very interesting - talks about the history of the company and the process of making champagne. You get to go down into the cellar, as the tour guide talks about the process etc... You see thousands upon thousands of aging champagne bottles stacked - pretty awesome! Now, by the end of the tour and depending on what you bought (tour package wise) you get a tasting at the end, 1 to 2 glasses. The shop was well put together and the staff was helpful. Go! Highly commend it, a total of 2(ish) hours spent on the tour and the shop.
google avatar

Sam M.

Yelp
Cool place. They make millions of bottles so they have a system of moving things quickly. I kind of felt like they were doing to same to me. The tour consisted of history, the process, and the result. The result being a small glass of Moet at the end, after that they throw you in the gift shop. It did enjoy it, I am glad I went, but I did not understand one word that lady said on the tour.
google avatar

Ramo N.

Yelp
Nice tour. Amazed at the size of the caves/cellars. Seeing the Dom was a highlight. Recommend if you're wanting to see the biggest champagne house.
google avatar

Sumi P.

Yelp
A 1.5 hour train trip from Paris through the countryside lands you in the charming town of Epernay. Great tour, great info and even better Champagne! I took my niece as a 21st birthday treat. The smart lady who helped us with our reservations recommended we pay for two different tastings so as to enjoy four different Champagnes. Brilliant suggestion! The entire experience was such a treat! We took the English tour and found the town of Epernay to be very easy to enjoy.

Yelp
Another place where you have to do the tour in order to do the tasting. But the anecdotes about Dom etc. on the tour are engaging. Their cuvées are good at the tasting but no Dom.

Yelp
I love this place. I am a fan of moet&chandon. At this place u will know about how delicately champagne was made. Dont miss it!!

Yelp
There are many champagne houses, caves, and degustation locations in this area, but the tour of Moët et Chandon is worth it. You get a 1-hour tour through a bit of their HQ building and the caves below (where every bottle of Moët & Chandon ever has rested). You get a lot of info about how champagne is made; where the grande cru, premier cru and cru slopes are; which grapes M&C use; how Dom Perignon differs; how many miles of cave they have; and how only a handful of people can decipher the codes for which bottles are which. For EUR14 you get the tour and a glass of champagne at the end. There are more expensive options that allow you to sample more at the end. Group sizes appear to be about 20. There's a very nice gift shop at the end. Very educational and interesting. Some guides do a better job of projecting their voice than others.

Yelp
Meh, the tour was ok, but the tour guide could have been much better. She kept hurrying us along and not allowing us to take photos. Also, compared to the other champagne houses (Mercier, Veuve, de Castellane), the selection of the levels (i.e. lots of different types) and numbers of champagnes (2) could have been better.

Yelp
WHAT a tour. Wow. Yes, it is commercialized, but why wouldn't it be? It is Moet after all. We lucked out and there were only 5 of us on the tour. Elena was our guide for the day and she was very well informed, who really knew her stuff and answered any question that any of us had. She was a great guide! You walk in and it's all kind of incredible, trying to take it all in. You are greeted by someone that shows you the way to the front desk. At the front desk I checked in for my reservation for a tour and paid. They give you your tickets and information that you need for the tour and ask you to take a seat in the waiting room until it is time. Elena walked over, introduced herself and escorted us to the hallway where she began her tour. After a quick introduction you are taken to the next room and seated in front of a large screen. I found the video that they show you very interesting, it was nice to have the history and to understand some of the background before going down the steps to the tunnel. While in the tours you don't see much going on, it's all pretty staged compared to other tunnels I was able to see, but it is incredible to see where this brand and this company all started! The old signs that they have up and on the walls there are antique and beautiful. You really forget where you are while you're underground. Elena continued to explain the history as well as how the actual process of the bottling happens, which is very interesting to learn about and see. From a walk around in the tunnels, you go into another room that is downstairs for your tasting! I decided to have two of the champagnes, I tried the rose, which I strongly encourage to try if you haven't ever had it- now is the time! The person leading the tasting was very friendly and bubbly. He spoke to us like a friend, not like a wine snob or someone that knows more than you, he was very relatable, which didn't go unnoticed for my mother and I. We were very happy with our guide Elena and this gentleman. For such a corporate place, they really know how to hire the right people. When the tour came to and end, I was actually sad it was done! I had such a great time and was so impressed, I think I would even do it again if I was in the area a couple of years from now. I will definitely tell my friends and family about it. Overall we had a very nice time, it was definitely one of the highlights of tours we did in the area.

Yelp
WOW! An amazing place to see the history of the region and get a nice little Champagne fix at the same time. If you are able to dine at Trianon, please do try - it is a fantastic experience.

Yelp
Excellent tour, which is what makes this place so great. Sure, it's commercial and large, but is easy to access and the caves are impressive! 29 kilometers of wine storage right under Epernay! The tour is comprehensive, reasonably priced, and includes a few glasses of bubbly depending on the option you choose. I'd recommend this as a place to start, and then head for the smaller, more interesting Maisons for the real tasting. White Star is, well, White Star whether in France or in the USA.
