Moffat House

Went there for late lunch with family. They were very accommodating considering that we did not have a booking. Beatrice, at the bar, was especially helpful. Our waitress was also very friendly. The facilities were spotless and decorated.

Great place to stay for breaking the journey to or from Scotland. Hotel staff were all very helpful and very good service. The public rooms and bedrooms were all well decorated to a high standard. I would class this as a high standard traditional hotel.

Beautiful hotel, the decor is lovely, as are the gardens. Comfortable beds, great shower. Dog friendly rooms. Breakfast was made to order, good variety, catering for most guests.. Friendly professional staff. Live music in the bar was good..

What an excellent find in Moffat. A fantastic old building with cosy comfortable bar, excellent staff, excellent wine and tremendous food. We had a king size bed which gave us a comfortable sleep. Plenty parking at front, beautiful setting for dinner which overlooks the gardens. The breakfast was fantastic, met by pleasant waiter who looked after us. Haggis for breakfast was great idea and went really well with full Scottish breakfast. We will definitely return in future. Highly recommended!!

Very simply, if you’re in Moffat & can stay here, book a room. The whole building is stunningly beautiful. The bar, lounge & restaurant are sumptuous but relaxing places. Staff are exemplary. We were part of a large party & didn’t know all the other guests, but staff introduced us to break the ice. Another member of staff gave advice on the best rooms to book if we brought our dog. Friendly, professional service from reception staff to bar & restaurant staff. We loved every second we were there.

Fabulous location, great place to stay. Stayed one night,but very nice, beautiful gardens, nice decor in main areas. Room was clean and well decorated, could use plug sockets near the bed with USB point would be great. Barman made a couple of fantastic toasted sandwiches really good of him.

Called later this evening for some food. Didn't book but they managed to accommodate us. The food was excellent. Absolutely beautiful. Good portion size, freshly cooked and nice flavours. Service was very good and staff very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend a visit here.

A visit to the Moffat House Hotel is a real treat. I always look forward to my visits. It so so beautifully and tastefully decorated, it just feels so luxurious. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced.

We stayed here for one night as it was dog friendly. The room was an ok size. It was just a bit run down. Think it needs some TLC. The bathroom was also ok. The building outside is really impressive but the inside does not match that. This is also a Best Western which is not obvious from the name. The staff are really friendly. I asked for 2 plates and some cutlery as we had brought back a takeaway. Some place can be weird about this but they were very obliging. Would recommend for a night or 2.

The Moffat House Hotel certainly looks very grand from outside, but on the inside it is pretty dated. Although we stayed pretty cheap (around £50 a night including a dog on a Saturday) I would have paid a little more to have wallpaper that wasn't falling off the roof and being able to hear everything going on in the bathroom next to my bed... (not my bathroom!). However the staff were really nice and doggy friendly too and it is well located within a 3-4 minute walk of pretty much every pub in Moffat. A lovely town to visit.
