20 Best Beaches in Europe

"Tucked just around the corner from Budva’s busy resort promenade, this nearly one-mile-long stretch of sand is divided by a rocky outcrop and backed by sloping green cliffs, producing beautiful turquoise water. It can get very crowded in high season; alternatively, boat tours around Budva provide access to hidden sea caves and dramatic coastal views from the water." - Lila Harron Battis Lila Harron Battis Lila Harron Battis is a writer and editor. 3 stars reflects the complete over crowding of the beach. Yes scenery is beautiful but you can't really enjoy and relax. Worth a working visit but if you want to swim and have space there are loads of other options.

We visited Mogren Beach in the middle of summer, around noon, and it was extremely crowded. We walked from Old Budva City Center all the way to Mogren 2 Restaurant along a stunning, well-paved path right on the water — the walk itself is definitely worth the trip. Once you arrive, you’ll find that the beach is mostly fine rocks and pebbles, but there are wooden pathways to make getting around easier. Loungers, chairs, and umbrellas are available for rent (€20–30 per person, depending on the row you choose). There are also lockers for valuables, plenty of restaurants, and places to grab drinks. Because it was so busy, we ended up sitting by the rocks instead of renting loungers. A big tip: bring water shoes — the rocks can be painful to walk on. The water temperature was typical for the Adriatic in summer: refreshing and perfect for cooling off. Overall, Mogren Beach is a beautiful spot with plenty of amenities, but in peak summer it can be frustrating to find space. If you don’t mind the crowds, it’s worth the visit for the views, the clear water, and the lively atmosphere.

The beach itself is simply wonderful, very beautiful pebbles and crystal clear water. However, about 90% of the time it’s ridiculously overcrowded and impossible to enjoy your time here, unfortunately, choosing a less crowded beach in the area would be a better option.

Mogren Beach in Budva is one of the best beaches in Montenegro, offering crystal-clear waters, soft pebbly sand, and stunning cliffside views. Tucked between dramatic rock formations, it provides a perfect mix of relaxation and natural beauty. The beach is divided into two sections—Mogren 1, the more popular one, and Mogren 2, a slightly quieter extension just a short walk away. Both offer a fantastic seaside experience with clean, turquoise waters ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Directions: To reach Mogren Beach, head towards Budva Old Town and walk past its walls until you see a pedestrian pathway veering to the right. Follow this scenic coastal walk for about five minutes, and you’ll arrive at the beach. If Mogren 1 is crowded, continue a bit further to Mogren 2, which is usually less packed. For the best experience, arrive early in the morning to secure a good spot, as the beach fills up quickly in peak season. Umbrellas and sunbeds are available for rent, providing much-needed shade. The water here is refreshingly cold, so be prepared for a brisk swim. Wearing flip-flops is recommended, as the pebbles can be uncomfortable to walk on barefoot. Facilities include paid bathrooms and outdoor showers, which are convenient for rinsing off after a swim. If you’re looking for extra fun, bring along beach toys or inflatables to enjoy in the water. Nearby, you’ll find small beach bars serving drinks and snacks, though bringing your own supplies is also a good idea. With its breathtaking scenery and well-maintained amenities, Mogren Beach is a must-visit for anyone exploring Budva.

Even on a rainy day- it is very therapeutic to walk along this beach. Very safe. Can leave shoes on the sand without anyone disturbing your belongings.

The beach seemed beautiful with crystal clear waters. Unfortunately on the day we visited, it was very crowded, hardly any places to walk or sit on the beach. Would recommend going earlier in the day if you want a sunbed, even so, it would get crowded eventually, so if you don't mind that, it's still a nice pebble beach.

Absolutely stunning beach, a must-visit in Budva! Mogren Beach is a true gem — crystal clear water, golden pebbles, and incredible views of the cliffs and Old Town. It’s actually two beaches connected by a small tunnel, and both are equally beautiful. The walk from Budva’s Old Town is scenic and adds to the experience. There are sunbeds for rent, but you can also just lay your towel on the rocks or in a free spot. Gets pretty crowded during peak hours (especially in July), so try coming early in the morning or closer to sunset — it’s magical then. Only downside is limited space and a bit pricey sunbed rental, but the natural beauty more than makes up for it. Perfect for swimming, photos, and relaxing. Highly recommend!

The beach is beautiful! the road to it is amazing: past the cliff and views of the city. However, the beach is very crowded
