Over the years, I've dined at the Mogul a good number of times, and with varying experiences.
We dined there the other night, and we started off early with cocktails in their small bar. The drinks and service were fine, but I expect the bar can get crowded there due to space limitations.
The dining system is unique at The Mogul. Your waiter is also your chef. I'm not sure why they do this, but when its busy in the restaurant you see elements of chaos.
Our waiter/chef was Scott, who seemed like a likeable fellow, but when it came to bringing out food we waited a good 40 minutes for steaks (which can take just 10 minutes).
From our vantage point we watched Scott scurrying back and forth between attending to the customers needs at tables, and then bouncing back to the grill to tend to our food. It was a bit unnerving when you think of your food going unattended, again and again.
The end result for cookery was a mixed bag. One steak was cooked fine, and the other a bit overdone. In addition, the steaks lacked seasoning and the veggies (steamed zucchini slices) were unremarkable.
I keep coming back, but I wish they'd just install a proper chef's brigade in the kitchen to help with cookery, consistency and timing.
Finally, a note to the owner, please bring back the salad bar. The pandemic is over, and the salad bar was a big hit with diners.
