Google
Great service decent food The filet was just ok but nothing to brag about The white fish was above average but not spectacular. Our server Scott was fantastic, one of the best servers we’ve ever had. The place is simple and nice clean but not fancy The dessert was excellent Cinnamon charlotte was phenomenal! The mango sorbet was delicious

If you wanna have a nice piece of protein (fish or pork or steak or elk chop), here is the spot. The fire grill gives a full flavor profile to your meat. Overall, pretty good environment. Staffs are friendly.

Google
My wife and I had a great meal here We did not book a table but I would advise doing so. The food was extremely tasty we opted for the elk which was a first for us and was fantastic. Zach was our server and he was very friendly and attentive.

Google
The host as well as our server David were excellent. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. The issues were as follows. The artichoke was not trimmed nor was the choke removed in fact the artichoke was undercooked with no meat on the leaves. It was sent back for a replacement. The prime rib was chewy/tough. Difficult to cut. The baked potatoes skin was tough and crazy at it may seem difficult to cut. I ordered a gin & tonic and it took an extremely long time to get.

Google
Loved the restaurant and the food very much. This place was perfect along with our server David. He is genuinely the GOAT. This guy needs a raise ASAP. I’ll definitely go back when I visit Mammoth Lakes again. W David and W Mogul.

Google
I had dinner at Mogul Restaurant yesterday, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding, especially the meat, which was clearly of high quality and cooked perfectly. The service was equally impressive. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed throughout the evening. Even though we stayed late for finishing our meal, they were more than happy to let us relax without any pressure to leave. To top it off, the bill was very reasonable for the quality of both the food and service. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and highly recommended.

Google
We feel this restaurant is overrated. It’s too old fashioned and outdated for our taste. We ordered a mammoth cut prime rib, which cooked beautifully but other than that, the baked potato is just a potato being baked without any other taste, the same thing to the vegetables. The wedge salad is delicious and classic. If you like classic style, you will like here. But if you like something more modern, you should skip to somewhere else.

Pretty nice restaurant. Seems to be a popular spot in mammoth. We had to get a reservation on Friday night. Waiters were very friendly and had a nice ambiance. Food was overpriced for what it was. One of our steaks was cooked rare when asked for medium rare. Also one of our chickens at our table was underdone. Pricey for an undercooked steak/chicken.

Yelp
Our hostess, Lexi, was absolutely amazing. My family is very grateful for her as my son was having a meltdown in the front and she was attentive and came around with balloons and such a calming presence. She literally changed the trajectory of our whole family night. We are very grateful for her and her time. Jonnel, our waitress, was awesome. She had great recommendations for us and was very attentive and personable. This was our second time at the Mogul and we will continue to go back each time we are in Mammoth. Food is superb and service is excellent.

Yelp
Went here for dinner during our trip in mammoth lake. Servers were pretty courteous. Food was great. We ordered the prime rib and ribeye, which were pretty tender. The sunshine salad was also surprisingly good. Would recommend if you like meat.

Nan N.

Yelp
Been here a couple times now, and overall the restaurant is decent but not special. The prime rib is always a lock. The ribeye is also solid with nice char lines. Cocktails are decent. Had to wait 10+ min for our table despite reservations though. They don't really rotate their menu much - their specials are exactly the same as one year ago. Bottom line: if you're feeling a solid steak or prime rib, Mogul is nice and is above avg for what you'll find in Mammoth.

Yelp
Over the years, I've dined at the Mogul a good number of times, and with varying experiences. We dined there the other night, and we started off early with cocktails in their small bar. The drinks and service were fine, but I expect the bar can get crowded there due to space limitations. The dining system is unique at The Mogul. Your waiter is also your chef. I'm not sure why they do this, but when its busy in the restaurant you see elements of chaos. Our waiter/chef was Scott, who seemed like a likeable fellow, but when it came to bringing out food we waited a good 40 minutes for steaks (which can take just 10 minutes). From our vantage point we watched Scott scurrying back and forth between attending to the customers needs at tables, and then bouncing back to the grill to tend to our food. It was a bit unnerving when you think of your food going unattended, again and again. The end result for cookery was a mixed bag. One steak was cooked fine, and the other a bit overdone. In addition, the steaks lacked seasoning and the veggies (steamed zucchini slices) were unremarkable. I keep coming back, but I wish they'd just install a proper chef's brigade in the kitchen to help with cookery, consistency and timing. Finally, a note to the owner, please bring back the salad bar. The pandemic is over, and the salad bar was a big hit with diners.

Yelp
We came to The Mogul Restaurant on Christmas Day without reservation and within the last hour before closing. We were very thankful to the host and waiter who served us. We wouldn't have known where to dine. The food was delicious and ambiance had a lovely cabin feel inside. Highly recommend.

B R.

Yelp
We've been here 6 or 7 times and the food and service are always great. Several of the times I went for the happy hour at the little corner bar, which was a great deal. I've also brought my family many times and sat in the restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The last time we went, we popped in at 5:30 without a reservation and they were able to squeeze us in which I was very grateful for. It's a great little slice of old Mammoth in the best possible sense. Great ambiance.

Yelp
My husband, brother and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night while we were visiting Mammoth Lakes. We'd made a reservation just the day before and had no trouble getting one at 7 pm. The outside of the restaurant looks like a log cabin, and it looks like this on the inside too. The space is very cozy and inviting. We had a very friendly and upbeat server who was attentive and ensured we had everything we needed when needed. We had the scallops and the artichoke dip for our appetizers. My husband ordered the artichoke dip on a whim and none of us felt particularly good after eating it because of how heavy it was. For my main, I had the elk chops with a cherry sauce. These were very good, and the serving was also quite generous. All of us left feeling very full. I thought the food here was good but not outstanding.

Laura K.

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurants in Mammoth. You know it is when you find a nice blend of locals with visitors and a line most times. Craft cocktails are delicious, along with beers and a nice selection of wines served from the lovely bar, where you can also eat. Tables are cramped, but it's a fun vibe, so get to know your neighbor. All food and appetizers are fantastic, along with meats, salads and soups. We love coming here when visiting Mammoth!

Ethel E.

Yelp
I loved their steak frites. The steak was tender and juicy, and the fries were crispy and perfectly salted. The peppercorn sauce added just the right amount of kick. This is a great option for a simple but delicious meal.

Ramon Y.

Yelp
Great food and service. The Mogul is an institution in Mammoth. We have been dining here for years. Our daughter who is now 16 y/o always requests that we eat here whenever we visit.

Michelle E.

Yelp
Had a great experience. Everyone that we spoke to was friendly and attentive. Karen our server was extremely professional and informative on the wine list and menu.

Mara L.

Yelp
I love the mogul restaurant! We had the artichoke, which was very good, and they even cut it open to eat the meat of the heart (the best part!) it also can with two different sauces to dip in. We had the lobster tail to share, which was already cut open and tasted very fresh! We also shared the scallops which were so delicious and awesome! The 6 layer chocolate cake was so rich and perfect for people to fulfill their sweet tooth! The waiter was so helpful, telling us the specials and recommending different plates. The ambience was very mountaintop skiing, and fun! 5 stars, will be remembered, recommend, and returned to!!

Jackson M.

Yelp
Hands down the best steak I've ever had. It beats Ruth's Chris all day. I got the filet mignon with Gorgonzola butter. If you like to add something with your steak definitely DO NOT HESITATE. Our server was amazing very good service.

Jenn S.

Yelp
We were sadly disappointed by our experience at the Mogul this evening after reading so many positive reviews. On the positive side, the restaurant was pretty kid friendly, though the menu online says that kids receive a balloon with their meal-- ours did not. The mushroom appetizer was quite good. A few things, however, made our experience overall quite poor. We ordered the prime rib and it was very chewy-- almost inedible. The most challenging part of the evening was that our server, while very nice, appeared to be quite intoxicated. He smelled of alcohol, spilled my drink (and did not offer a replacement) and seemed to have trouble holding plates of food upright. Our service was quite slow. Perhaps the worst, when we tried to discuss this at the front with a man who appeared to be the manager, he dismissed our concerns and didn't bother even replying waiving is off with no care. This was all quite disappointing for a $200 meal. We will not be returning.

Yelp
Best meal of the year. Got the new York. 50/10. Server Courtney was great. Whole experience was amazing, perfect Valentine's day dinner

Christina W.

Yelp
We came on a Friday night with 7pm reservations. When we arrived, there was no record of our reservation. Luckily, they still accommodated us as quickly as possible, which we were so appreciative of as we were celebrating my mom's birthday. Our server, Arturo, was great. He was great at answering questions about serving and cooking the food at the same time. The clam chowder was a little plain, but everything else was delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection and the steaks were so tender. At the end of the meal they brought out some ice cream and sang happy birthday to my mom, and made sure they all knew her name. The inside of the restaurant is really nice, and from some parts in the restaurant you can see the servers cook the food! We will definitely come back, as we are never disappointed leaving the mogul.

Barbara R.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend who's been going here for at least 30 years. What was best to find out is the son was the host that evening, so it's still a family affair. My husband and I shared a steamed artichoke for an appetizer, which was good. I got the prime rib and it was quite possibly the best I've ever had. Scott was a very attentive waiter as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a good meal!

Michele B.

Yelp
I ate here tonight with 4 teenagers and had a wonderful experience. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so polite. The service was amazing and the food was delicious! We will definitely go back. Thank you.

Daniela A.

Yelp
The food and service were excellent! Steaks were cooked perfectly & mashed potatoes were devine! Also that chocolate cake!!!

Sue B.

Yelp
We hadn't been to The Mogul Restaurant in awhile, but decided to come tonight during our quick fall layover in Mammoth. We didn't realize that we needed reservations on a Monday night at 6pm during the shoulder season. But we did. Cary said he could get us in around 6:45pm so we went for a brisk walk to work up our appetite. We were warmly greeted again, seated with menus and water. Dana came by within a few minutes to get our drink order. Within 5 minutes, we gave her our dinner order: mushroom soup, the petite filet minion and the pork chop with a cherry reduction. We received some nice bread for starters. The soup was very nice! My petite filet , baked potato and veggies from the light menu was the perfect size and well prepared. My husband loved his pork chop. It was very tender and had a lot of flavor. We both really enjoyed our meals and look forward to our next visit!

Terry R.

Yelp
If you are in Mammoth Lakes looking for the perfect ending to a Mammoth day, your best choice is the Mogul. Particularly if a perfectly grilled steak or fish is what you're looking for. And if you are lucky Arturo will be your waiter whose grace and attentiveness ensures a perfect dinner

Peter A.

Yelp
We loved Bar Sierra! Well I am no longer 25 or 30 and although the Rafters was fun (can't even imagine how many times fiends and I would close the place on a Fri) Bar Sierra is better. The service was great, the BBQ was good and the drinks were well prepared (ha, years ago it was very different). So there is not a band playing so loud you have to shout to hear every other word, and it is no longer the pickup place of yore. Great food (yes, it was really, really good), great service, and a very well renovated interior. We will be back as often as we are here. I wish them luck!! We

Yelp
There is a reason why this is the #1 restaurant of Mammoth. Truly authentic, honest ambience with the best steaks and excellent service. We were seated immediately when we arrived on time for our reservation. We had artichoke for appetizer, ribeye and prime ribs for mains, cinnamon charlotte and creme brulee for desserts, all sublime. Nothing beats having fine foods and being serviced by the most wonderful management and staff on a snowing Christmas eve at the Mogul.

Lynda S.

Yelp
Food and service are fantastic. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant! We will definitely be back on our next trip to Mammoth.

Erick D.

Yelp
This place does not seat large parties 6 and up. We were 10 in my party. restaurant was empty. They didn't even tried. Customer service was horrible, unacceptable. Jan 19th 6pm

Laura E.

Yelp
Great food. Cozy atmosphere. Prime rib was delicious Service was quick and efficient.

Yelp
Had an unbelievably bad experience here. Jeff was our waiter and when he came over with someone he was training, someone in our group joked with the trainee -- did he know what a certain drink was called? The trainee was game and played along and it lasted maybe 30 seconds. Jeff's next sentence: "We'll if you're done talking over me are you ready to order?" Um, excuse me? He also returned a phone to someone in our group (that we'd left at the bar) and made a snarky and totally unnecessary comment about "well now your wife can get ahold of you." Sir, are you okay? Who talks to customers that way? The food here is...let's just say there's better in the Village. We've been here maybe a dozen times (enough to know not to get the small table by the kitchen which, frankly, shouldn't even be there) and it's always been just okay but I'm too lazy to write reviews. Congratulations, Jeff. As the rudest, most inappropriate waiter I've ever encountered you finally got a review. Jeff, I'm sorry you're either a miserable human being or going through life with your social radar broken -- not realizing your sense of humor comes off as so offensive that it ruins customers nights. You need a new career and this place needs a manager who is actually aware of how their staff treats its customers.

Sara D.

Yelp
Food was amazing!!! Prime rib was delicious and so was the mushroom appetizer. David was an awesome waiter! Highly recommended!! Great service & food! and very cozy vibes

Eric M.

Yelp
Have had good and Horrible experiences. Still aggravated. Note this table is RIGHT by the grill. I was a male dining alone, I ordered fillet, a very good bottle of wine, and an appetizer, and they sat me here. I told the server that I was not happy being near the flames, noise, smoke, smell and cramped area. The servers agree with me and said they just needed to seat me somewhere. I requested to speak to the manager. I asked the manager to sit across from me. I asked him would he take a date here and sit at this table to impress her. The manager looked at me confused and I said, " would you sit here with your wife or a date to enjoy a nice dinner"? He finally got the picture and said no, it's not a nice table, but I was "a single guy". Several years later, my brother and I walked in and I said, lthat's amazing, there used to be a table there and I talked to the manager and he said he would do something about it". Halfway through our dinner disappointingly, they walked in with the table and put it there again.

Douglas W.

Yelp
Phenomenal dinner, ordered the ribeye and it was perfectly tender. My server Scott and everyone else were very welcoming and attentive, great experience.

Vicki D.

Yelp
If you want to come here-make a rezzie! They get really busy. They have fantastic cocktails, try the Moscow mule. They are known for their grilled meals here-shrimp, steak, fish, etc. I get the petite filet with a baked potato and veggies and for appetizer the grilled shrimp. Any of their steaks are good we have tried them all. The prime rib is a specialty to definitely give a whirl! The service is fantastic. Love this classic restaurant and will continue coming back here when we are visiting Mammoth.

Dondi H.

Yelp
Great service, food and atmosphere! Great date night or business gathering location.

Angelika K.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service, friendly staff. We came here on New Years day and they sat us immediately because they had some tables available at the bar that were serving full menu. Karen our server/grill master was amazing. She was so nice and very well versed on the menu, she answered all the questions we had. Overall an amazing experience. We will be back anytime we come to Mammoth.

Carl H.

Yelp
Enjoyed New Years Eve dinner at The Mogul. Third time there, and never disappoints. The food is always exceptional, and on this occasion we had David as our server, who was courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. He really added to the outstanding experience. Have been coming to Mammoth for over 60 years. This is one of the finest restaurants in the area.

Carly T.

Yelp
Stoped in last minute without a reservation, hostess was kind and accommodating. My husband and I were promptly seated at a wonderful intimate booth. Dinner was amazing. My husband had the halibut and I had the elk chops. Server was great and attentive and what I believe to be the manager stopped by to check on us. Well run establishment from front of house to the back. We will definitely be back.

Kyke D.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service. Really cool atmosphere and an awesome little bar. A mammoth staple.

Amie S.

Yelp
Great food and good service. Tommy, our server was not overbearing, came to check on us in a timely manner. I made a last minute decision to dine here and we had a short wait on a Tuesday night, so I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time. We also got a glass of wine, a cocktail( Moscow mule) and a dessert (creme brûlée) not pictured, everything was fantastic and not overly priced ! Definitely a spot I will be coming back to again.

Mai W.

Yelp
Service was impeccable. From walking in the door and from the wait staff, everyone was super courteous and was so great to me and my family. Warm bread came out to get us started. Ceasar salad was also fresh and crunchy. Kids got the angel hair pasta and scarfed it down. It was a great sized kid portion that I could split between by 6 and 3 year old. I got the prime rib, great piece of meat that I was so hungry I almost for got to take a picture. My husband had the ribeye. Nice and fatty just how we liked it. The entrees came with some asapargus and a side (we opted for baked potatoe), so very very good portion sizes after you're done on a day on the slopes! Looking forward to making this a regular place we dine at when we're in Mammoth!

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Is one of our favorite place to visit in Mammoth! Food is always yummy! We love the ribeye steaks, cream of mushroom soup, and the side dishes. The service is great! Friendly staff and cozy environment. Be sure to make reservations in advance if you want to try this place. You won't be disappointed.

Yueming Q.

Yelp
We feel this restaurant is overrated. It's too old fashioned and outdated for our taste.

Yelp
Have been here several times. Reservations are preferred in advance. I have seen people walk in. Once seated. Our group was served very quick. Drinks and food came very fast. Food quality is very good. Steaks are phenomenal. Would definitely return next time I'm in Mammoth. Prime choice for steakhouse.

Eddie M.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was mediocre. Took 25 minutes to get a drink order in. then another hour to get our food. We finally had food at 9pm for a 7:30pm reservation. Our waiter was nice enough but apparently the waiters also are the cooks. ‍ Would skip this place for sure.

Ted R.

Yelp
Not as good as last time. Picture looks better than it taste. I wanted blood rare and came when they opened but got rate plus to medium rare. Baked potato good and Janelle our server outstanding. I don't mind paying the nearly $50 for a 16 ox. cut but sure wish it was better. Other entrées looked great. Brought our own wine and paid the ridiculous corkage of $25 which I had to open myself. Might be sometime before I go here for prime rib.

M M.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and great food! We had the filet, top sirloin, and prime rib- all were very delicious. We highly recommend if you are in Mammoth.

Darin L.

Yelp
Ok.....so I've spent an inordinate amount of time in Mammoth and never eaten at the Mogul.....what a ridiculous oversight that was. Since I was by myself, I decided to eat at the bar......a limited menu, but still very nice. I opted for the prime rib and a Ceasar salad. Allie was quick and efficient with drinks and dinner. She was also fun to chat with. Dessert was a difficult decision with the choices presented. Opted for blackberry pie. The food was excellent...plentiful, perfectly cooked and well presented. The service was top notch. I highly recommend and will certainly visit again.

Charis R.

Yelp
We were figuring out where to eat on our last night in Mammoth and felt like this old school no frills classic steakhouse would hit the spot. I saw many reviews encouraging reservations due to how busy they get, but this was on a Sunday evening during the tail end of the ski season, so we decided to walk in and it paid off. Their website states their bar area is open at 5pm, though the restaurant doesn't open until 5:30. Around 5:20pm we walked in, put our names down and there was already another couple at the bar waiting. We ended up sipping some wine and got sat 10-15 minutes after arriving. Our server Tom was great and helped us navigate the menu and narrow down our choices. We opted for the half pound of king crab legs and the ribeye. I've had better of both - the crab legs were a bit dry with marginal meat and the ribeye was on the thinner side and not as flavorful as I'm used to. Nevertheless it did the job and we still enjoyed it. I realize we should of ordered the prime rib after four gentleman sat near us and all ordered a 16oz plate. The server said the restaurant only had enough for 12oz for each of them. That was the sign we ordered the wrong meal...but next time!

Mr. C.

Yelp
I'm out here in mammoth and decide to stop by because of the reviews and the food looked great. Once I got there the service was exceptional, very welcoming and just overall great. My server was great and definitely went above and beyond. The ambiance isn't more than a bar, noisy and busy. Had an issue with finding hair in our salad, our steaks weren't up to par. The filet was rare with a sear when we asked for medium and my prime rib was served cold. Despite sending things back twice the problems weren't fixed. I dislike being a complainer so we ate was okay and that was it. All we got for their mistakes was a glass of wine $11 off. Bill was still $98

Jeanette F.

Yelp
Excellent service and great food. Pricing is fair for what you get. The atmosphere is comfortable cozy mountain cabin.

Jim H.

Yelp
My wife and I traveled to mammoth as part of a trip for my 50th birthday. I had booked a different restaurant for dinner on the big day, but when we arrived at said restaurant, we discovered they were closed for renovations, and they hadn't told me, and let me make a reservation! We scrambled to find somewhere else decent to eat in Mammoth, and ended up here. They were pretty much booked up, but i explained my plight to the host, and he was able to sneak us in. The gimmick at this place is that your waiter grills your food, which, well, I don't get it. I guess in the distant past they actually let you grill your own food. The food itself was good, not spectacular, not ground breaking or imaginative, but solidly done. Comparable to a Fleming's or some such. I would definitely come back, after all they did for me, saving my half centenary birthday.
