visited this restaurant yesterday with my wife and son for a banana leaf meal. While we were expecting a decent family lunch with a typical price range, we were honestly shocked when the bill arrived, the total came up to RM98++ for just the three of us. That’s way above what most Indian restaurants charge for a similar meal? What truly surprised me was the pricing of individual items — RM23 for a single slice of fish and RM19 for a portion of chicken keema. These were just standard servings, nothing extraordinary in terms of size or taste. In fact, the food itself was quite average, and certainly not worth such steep prices. I’m writing this not out of anger, but out of genuine disappointment. As customers, we don’t mind paying more when the food, service, and experience truly match the price. But in this case, it just didn’t. It felt more like being overcharged than enjoying a quality dining experience. To the management: please don’t take this review lightly or brush it off like just another complaint. If you value long-term customers and genuine feedback, I urge you to reconsider your pricing and improve the value you offer. At this rate, I honestly don’t see myself returning, and I believe many others would feel the same once they’ve had a similar experience.

We went for lunch and ordered the banana leaf meal. They offered many extra side dishes (all charged separately), but we only took the chicken perattal. Once they noticed we ordered a simple meal, their service completely changed. They didn’t bother to serve us plain water or curry unless we asked multiple times. Even the papadam and pickles were only given after repeatedly requesting from several staff members. We went around 11 a.m., and it wasn’t crowded—most of the servers were free but still chose to ignore us. The side dishes for the banana leaf meal were disappointing, with very little taste and served in tiny portions (just one scoop each). The chicken perattal portion was also small and not worth the price. Previously, when we came with our family and ordered a lot, the service was great even though it was busy. Hopefully, the staff can change their mindset and treat all customers equally, regardless of how much they order.

I recently visited Mohana Bistro and had a mixed experience. We tried the vegetarian meal, and the veg chicken was absolutely superb – definitely a 5/5 for that dish. I also ordered the cheese naan, but the cheese was barely there, making it hard to distinguish from plain naan – I’d rate it 2/5. The paneer butter masala was a bit on the sweeter side, so I’ll give it a 3/5. The snacks, karipap and kara bondah, were quite enjoyable, especially with the sambar and chutney. A big shoutout to the staff (an anna, not sure of his name) who went out of his way to bring us the sambar and chutney at our table at the back. His effort truly stood out, and I’d give him a well-deserved 5/5. The bru coffee was nice as well, but I’d recommend asking for less sugar if you’re not into sweet drinks – I’d rate it 4/5. However, the pricing was a letdown, especially for the paneer butter masala, which felt overpriced for the portion size. I’d give the pricing 2/5. The atmosphere was another downside – it was very crowded, cramped, and hard to get a table since I went on a Sunday evening. We also had to wait quite a while for the waiter to take our order. Overall, the food and service had their highlights, but the pricing and atmosphere pulled the experience down. I’d give it a 3/5 overall.

Had banana leaf meal. Ordered mutton varuval and it didn’t taste at all like varuval. Left the whole balance portion just like that. Will share the bill which didn’t state varuval. When I told the cashier that I ordered varuval, he said “it’s the same thing sir” to which I said the dish was not nice at all. Been a regular here whenever I plan to have Indian food. But not anymore.

We came here for lunch last week, and it was an excellent experience overall. The food, service, and atmosphere were all fantastic. They served a lot of side dishes, which really added variety and value to the meal. The highlight for me was definitely the Bru cow milk coffee which is rich, creamy, and a must try for coffee lovers! Although the prices are a bit on the higher side, the quality of the food and the great dining experience make it worth it. Highly recommended!

My honest review...The food was 2/5... Extremely too expensive for a plate of small portion chicken. Moreover the chicken dish was tasteless and hard..I was shocked to see the bill...Over pricing....

One of the best restaurant in tengku klang.. Every dish is superb.. Love their thosai, mutton fried rice, paal appam.. Thr place is always packed to you might need to wait for your seat.. However, service is fast and you wont have to wait long for ur food.. The waiters are very attentive.. The ambience is noisy, mostly from the never-ending chit chat of patrons in that small place, but it brings some live to that place. And their selection of songs blasted through the space is quite enjoyable.. Overall a nice place that pleases your palate and ears.. 1st Sept 2024: came here twice this week. Was hooked with their chicken 65. The first time, ordered mutton kuzhambu, chicken 65 and fried cauliflower. Everything including the banana leaf thali set was superb. They diahed out 4 types of vege and each was nice. Second time came just for the chicken 65, mutton kozhambu and white rice. The combination was just outstanding. Even goes well with chicken curry. Had a heartiful meal. Their chicken 65 is something that standa out from others. The chicken cubes were nicely marinated and cooked to perfection. They were juicy, and succulent almost springy. Dip ot with their thovayal and the taste is elevated to the next level. Price wise, it is on the expensive side but when you take into account the taste and quality of the food served, no harm in paying more. 14.4.24- came for breakfast. Thosai came crispy and soft. The accompanying three chutneys were spot on. Add a layer of chicken curry and the taste was elevated. Their nasi lemak was a bit down though. There was no oomph in the sambal and the rice was definitely not infused with coconut milk. The rice lacked the iconic pandan and creamy taste.

Disappointing Experience , Not Worth the Price Had a very bad experience at this restaurant. • The food quality was poor , especially the fried fish, which had a strong, unpleasant smell. • To make things worse, they gave us the wrong order. • There were only 2 of us, and we had just plain water – yet the bill came to RM 98! • When we raised our concerns with the waiter, he simply smiled and walked away, offering no explanation or apology. Truly disappointed. Definitely not returning and wouldn’t recommend to others. A place that charges premium but delivers below average service and food quality.
