Finally visited the Mohata palace. 100 rupees ticket and kids free entry is actually nothing. There was no rush, despite Saturday and evening time, shows how much we are interested in the history. The space is well maintained generally barring a few observations. What an amazing architecture it is. For its time and still nicely kept by the caretakers. However it was extremely sad to see the back section turned into a work shop and an additional structure made on left side with chinioto wood work done? Why is that even there? Please the sides and the rear need around be equally open.
Moreover the insides where we can't take the camera! Why? I consider it as an obstacle to spread Jinnah and Fatima Jinnah's legacy and something that belonged to them, needs to be seen by the whole world. But they didn't understand and I was in no mood to make them.
The interiors....the ceilings are so damn beautiful, wish I could take it's pictures, the floors were insanely beautiful too, with original work, the colours and all. Plus the doors! God the doors are to die for, pure Teak wood and it's feel like it's installed yesterday, and the grand stair case is to die for. Wish they had kept Fatima Jinnah's room the way it was, as she was the last resident of this place and she brethed her last there too.
I sincerely hope they fix the back and make it as well kept as the front. I wish they removed the ugly structure from the back right side, I wish they restore the headless statues in the back too.
I wish the museum curators remove the wooden structures for pics and let us see ethe beautiful walls.
I wish they also open most of the other parts of the building too, as it was very evident that most was not available for viewing.
The legend says there was a tunnel connecting the palace with Kotahari parade! If that's true ...let's find the tunnel and restore it too.
May Allah make Pakistan more prosperous. Ameen.
