Mojave Guides

My 12 year old son and I had an amazing half day with Ryan. Given it was just the two of us, we got to rock climb, repel, and do an fantastic hike. Ryan made us feel safe the entire time. Communication to the meeting spot was easy, and I would have never known about the places he took us. We went to other places in Joshua Tree that were packed with other people. There were times when we were the only people I could see. I got to enjoy the afternoon with my son without thinking about logistics. Thanks again Ryan for an awesome experience.

We had relatives in town for the recent holiday and one of the uncles (big climber from east coast) found Mojave Guides. I brought my twin four year olds along and they had a blast. Chad and Taylor had kid specific gear (e.g., helmets, harnesses, shoes) that fit my little dudes perfectly. Once the kids were set up in their PPE, off they went! The guys had a number of our routes set up ranging from easy to difficult. They climbed alongside each of the twins to help them with their hand and foot holds and guided them up to the top of their routes. When one of the twins got nervous, they were able to calm him down and got him back down the rock face safely, gave him sometime, and he was excited to try again. When it was my turn, I had some difficulty as I have a fear of heights but Chad was able to guide me up as well and instilled confidence in me on the descent. I plan to do future trips with Mojave Guides when we vacation in the Joshua Tree area. Many thumbs up!

We had THE BEST time with Ryan. My husband and I are both semi experienced climbers, but we’ve only really done sport routes outdoors and we’ve never climbed on granite. Ryan went above and beyond our expectations. We could tell that he reviewed our forms beforehand and made an effort to get to know us as climbers before we even headed to the rocks. He made sure to educate us on everything throughout the day so that we felt confident and safe on the climbs. Plus, he was super friendly and easy to talk to. A surprise rain whipped through during the second half of our day, but we found a protected route and it ended up being our favorite (the eye on the cyclops wall, pictured here). It was absolutely a day to remember. Thank you so much Ryan!

Absolutely awesome experience with James Murphy as our guide! Family of 4 (Dad, Mom, D20, D17). Daughters had some indoor climbing experience but first time outdoors and at JT for the group. Murphy made it a ton of fun and educational, teaching us both technical and mental aspects of climbing. We can't thank him and Mojave Guides enough. We all loved it, and it was a highlight of weeklong barnstorm of Southern California. We hope to be back soon!

My husband & I recently visited Joshua Tree & had the best day with Mojave Guides! Murphy was our guide & he was awesome! We loved that it was just us, not a group. The climb was amazing & challenging. Murphy was a great support as we had never mountain climbed before. He was patient, kind & entertaining. He was very knowledgeable about the national park, he showed us some really cool spots & told us interesting history along the way. We definitely want to go back & spend another day climbing with him!

Great experience with Mojave guides! We booked a half-day, private tour for our family, which included 2 parents, 2 children, 2 grandparents, and a baby in tow. We do not have rock-climbing experience, but we are an active family that likes athletics and the outdoors. Our guides did a great job of creating a fun experience for beginners. Big thank you to our guides, Taylor and Chad, who did a great job of engaging with and encouraging our kids (and us!). They also checked in regularly to make sure this was the experience we wanted to have. They were invested in making it a good experience for everyone. Highly recommend!

Excellent experience! Taylor was the best guide we could have hoped for! Our choose your adventure of 1/2 day climbing 1/2 day canyoneering was made better by his sense of humor, kindness, skill, and knowledge of the area and Geology! We have had multiple climbing guides and he has been our favorite! This day was the best day of our 10 day national parks spring break trip, despite our car troubles!

Had a great experience with Mojave Guides. Emery, our guide, was awesome. Made us feel great and made sure we had a great time. It was our first time climbing outdoors. Climbs he picked were challenging but also achievable for us. Perfect balance!
