"After a day strolling the River Walk or exploring downtown, retreat to the warm opulence of this riverside hotel, which has been nationally recognized for its restaurant and spa. The heart of the property is the 19th-century L. Frank Saddlery Building, where 99 rooms and suites feature high ceilings, rich woods, and marble accents as well as soft leather furnishings, luxury linens, and Jacuzzi tubs. Take in downtown views from the heated outdoor pool or the adjacent Rooftop Café, which serves a menu of lunch staples, desserts, and cocktails. Down in the AAA Four Diamond Ostra restaurant, water vistas serve as the backdrop for sustainably sourced seafood and an award-winning selection of wine and tequila. The jewel in the crown: a 17,000 square-foot, 18-room spa, featuring cushy relaxation lounges, a glass waterfall, and a full menu of face, body, nail, and hair services."

If you want great service. Do yourself a favor and book this hotel. I've traveled quite a bit in my life. This hotel is in my top 3 of best service I've ever received. Staff was glad to help. Even in the hotel restaurant the food was actually good. The pool is nice the room was nice. Overall I would gladly go stay again. It's location is perfect when staying on the riverwalk. My only grip would be the upgrade I received. I booked this hotel as part of the FHR program. I booked the basic room and was upgraded to a city view room. Really not an upgrade because the view was obstructed. But not a huge deal just something to consider.

Excellent hotel. Check in with Nichole was seem less and she was super professional and friendly throughout our stay. She even arranged a special champagne bottle for our anniversary celebration. Rooms are very nice. Only one elevator in service though. Rooftop pool is great. Get a chair with an umbrella as the Texas sun is hot. Alejandra the pool waitress was super nice and fast. Overall, a superb experience.

This is a really great hidden gem in a sea of hotels on the riverwalk. The rooftop pool is amazing! Our kids enjoyed swimming and we enjoyed a full bar and resort style loungers complete with cool towels and umbrellas. Asia at the pool was so nice and she made some tasty craft cocktails! Edward, valet, was very welcoming and made our arrival and exit a breeze! We ate breakfast in the river level restaurant and it was very good. The views at breakfast were great because we were right on the river but tucked away under trees so it was still not overly hot.

Absolutely gorgeous! Such attention to detail in all facets! From the warm greeting from our valet to Ally's beautiful smiling face as she welcomed us with a glass of sparkling wine. The room, the view, the fruit and cheesecake waiting for us in our room... All so perfectly perfect in every way! When in San Antonio, do not hesitate to stay at The Mokara! ❤️

Google
Place was spectacular and everything was sensational but I lost a pair of earphones and when I went back to retrieve them the cleaning lady said she hadn’t found them. Update: They were able to find me a pair and replaced them. Their service is truly exceptional will definitely come back here!!!

Google
It was located downtown, where it felt truly alive. There is a lot of buzz. Great atmosphere and the staff very nice, friendly and super helpful. Love visiting San Antonio because it's full of history and, of course. Mokara Hotel does not disappoint. With its own great history, location, and beauty, it made my stay all the worthwhile.

I just came back from six nights at the Mokara Hotel and Spa on the San Antonio Riverwalk. I splurged on a river view room with a balcony and it was definitely worth it. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The public spaces in the hotel were also lovely. ||The food at Ostra (the main restaurant) was fantastic. Big shout out to the kitchen staff. Everything I had was delicious, but the seafood was the real star. Some particular favorites were the ceviche (nice and spicy!), the smoked salmon on latkes, halibut, shrimp diablo and the redfish. The shrimp tortilla soup was also excellent. And let’s not forget the bar staff! The drinks were great. My particular favorite was the La Vida with spicy tequila. Yes, I like it spicy! :-)||I also enjoyed the rooftop pool and the spa. When the weather was bad, I spent some time in the whirlpool inside the spa and it was lovely. The spa has a nice tranquil atmosphere, and staff were friendly and helpful. ||It’s the staff that makes this place so special. They went above and beyond for me in a way I didn’t think possible in this day and age, and I am so grateful to them. I came to San Antonio to meet someone for the first time (they were attending a conference at another hotel). We had several meals at Mokara and, when things didn’t work out, the staff was so sweet to me. I got lots of hugs (after they asked me if it was OK to hug me) and kind words, which I really appreciated. They also wrote me a lovely card with supportive messages and a second card the day I left, again with supportive messages. I was astonished and admit I was so touched that I cried.||So, here are SOME of the very thoughtful and caring people at the Mokara Hotel and Spa: Jordan, Cherish, Lucie, Alyssa, April, Aide, Vanessa, Destiny, Emily Barbie, Nick, Alex, and Yaya in the restaurant |Letty, Fajah, and the young man at the spa concierge desk|Nichole at the front desk|The housekeepers and bellmen||To the hotel management: these people are keepers and I hope you give them all a raise! :-) To everyone else reading this review, I highly recommend the Mokara Hotel and Spa. If they can make my stay wonderful under the circumstances, they can certainly take great care of you, too!

Google
Mokara Hotel exceeded all our expectations! Beautifully located on the River Walk, the hotel offers luxurious, spotless rooms and an unbeatable atmosphere. The staff made our stay unforgettable. Kim Huynh, the Food and Beverage Manager, was incredibly attentive, checking on us at the rooftop pool and restaurant. She even gave me a signed birthday card from her and the team—such a thoughtful surprise! At checkout, when we had car trouble, the General Manager Mickey personally helped jump-start our car, walking several blocks to assist us. This level of hospitality is rare and appreciated. This is the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
We loved this hotel. It's on the River walk but a world apart! Beautiful interior, with large lovely rooms. Everyone was incredibly friendly, from Nicole (I think) at the front desk to our wonderful housekeeper Eva. We had a small balcony overlooking the river from our 3rd floor room, which was fun to sit on in the evening to watch the night life go by. The shower had amazing water pressure, the bed was so comfortable (we actually looked at the label, and ordered the same pillows) and the amenities were great. Valet parking was easy, just call down for the car. The spa is free to use for hotel guests, and I had a relaxing few hours using the steam rooms & hot tub, and then just relaxing in the quiet room with a couch and soft blanket. Really enjoyed our stay. The vibe is really nice. There is always cool music playing in the lobby & elevators. Also, so easy to get out on the river walk, plus it is right by a bridge so very easy to access both sides. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
This was a very nice hotel! Right on the river walk, you are able to walk or Uber to a lot of locations. Depending on when you go will depend on the amount of traffic and "tourist". We would recommend the mokara. We also tried the spa amenities which were very nice. Everyone was very kind and we received great customer service!

Yelp
We stayed at Mokara Hotel for a mom/daughters weekend after a mix-up with our reservation at La Cantera left us without a room, and we couldn't have been more pleased. Mokara more than made up for the awful customer service at La Cantera and cost less. Every single staff member that we encountered went above and beyond to make us feel like VIPs: valet, front desk, housekeeping, food service, spa staff, and even the manager that we encountered in the elevator, who later sent champagne and snacks to our room to welcome us and compensate for our bad experience at La Cantera. Next trip, Mokara will be our first choice! My daughters and I highly recommend Mokara to anyone looking for a spa trip where everything is perfect and you never feel crowded, rushed, or unwelcome! Other guests that we encountered said the same. We also noticed that many amenities were unexpected and complementary, unlike some resorts that charge extra for every little thing - a drink on arrival, all day access to the spa, champagne at the spa, and more! We plan to return soon!

Yelp
Always a pleasure staying at this Monkara location. Friendly staff, great amenities, privacy and great hospitality. I recommend booking any spa services early as they consistently get fully booked. Highly recommend booking here.

Yelp
I enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Mokara. The receptionist was able to accommodate us even after a booking error on our part and was very kind. The rooms are incredible - spacious, vaulted ceiling, comfortable beds, and a huge whirlpool bathtub with a built in backrest. The bath came with bath crystals from the spa, which were lovely. And with a location right on the river walk, it can't get much better.

Yelp
This hotel facilitated our annual group meeting, we've held this group in many impressive hotels at various locations in the US, but this one was my favorite. Here's why - customer service. There's many great things about this hotel but its shining star is clearly the customer service and professionalism. Well done Mokara, I know where I'm staying next time I'm in town.

Yelp
Leah and Elizabeth were fabulous therapist! The messages were fantastic- and Leah helped give my finance some incredible sports/flexibility advice too. The couples massage was really a great added bonus to our San Antonio visit!!

Yelp
Loved brunch at this boutique restaurant. Good eggs and mimosas. Loved to people watch in the downstairs cafe restaurant.

Yelp
The premier rooms were spacious with large, nice bathrooms. Mokara has comfortable mattresses. The hallways were musty and humid and smelled like air freshener. The elevators and lobby are clean and classy. Overall pleasant stay. Next time we'll request a room with a balcony.

Yelp
Beautiful property, great staff from valet to front desk staff even the house keeping staff was wonderful. They came 2 times a day to ensure your room was clean and tidy. I will return to this property when I revisit. Isaac is wonderful and full of knowledge about this property and others in the area. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality.

Yelp
Christmas Getaway along San Antonio Riverwalk. We enjoyed a fantastic three night stay at the Mokara - Top Notch Service. The Concierge Shannon was outstanding - she actually called me a few days before our arrival to check in on any requests. When we arrive she offered us two glasses of Champagne - the front desk offered us waters and checked us into our room within a few minutes. The Entire Hotel Staff polite , professional and always had a positive attitude. A few names to mention are Donavan & Rick so friendly and helpful. The Mokara has two sides one along the street and the other along the Riverwalk. We were located on the street side - King Room - quiet. Bed was Super Comfortable, Bathroom was large (one sink). Our room had a Nespresso Machine, Safe, Bathrobes, working USB ports and a minibar fridge (you will need a key to have access and of course the items have a fee) After we arrived we went out along the Riverwalk, went for a drink at a famous bar called The Esquire Tavern (known for having the longest wooden bar in Texas) When we returned to our room the staff had provided a fruit plate - nice touch. There are two restaurants located on the premises - we only went to one along the river called Ostra. Fresh vibe - we had drinks a few times the service was Super Slow ! We had breakfast one time and it was decent - our server was also named Rick (very nice man) Note: The location of the Mokara offers numerous eating options and located right above the Riverboat launching area (from BBQ, Mexican, Pub, Steaks & Seafood) Overall it was a wonderful relaxing stay - with it being Christmas the river is lit up and getting around the area was super easy. Close to the Alamo & Plenty of Shopping. Horse Carriage Rides look really cool if your into that - see pics If it's your first time I suggest taking the Hop on Hop Off bus tour - it will show around the area within an hour and your can get a load information from the drivers.

Yelp
Cutest boutique hotel right in the Riverwalk in San Antonio. The staff treated us like royalty. They present you with a refreshing beverage on arrival and are very helpful. Rooms are adorable and the beds are VERY comfy. Downstairs they have a bar eatery that opens up to the Riverwalk.

Yelp
Thanks to the travel program of my credit card perks, I was able to find this upscale hotel. When we arrived, the valet staff gave us an option to valet parking for $49 or we could park in the public parking for $35 per day. We decided to park nearby since we would stay in the neighborhood. The location was right by Riverwalk and 10 minutes to The Alamo with walk. The staff were friendly and courteous with smiles. They brought the fruit plate to our room while we were away. It's very thoughtful. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. I did notice that of of the indoor sleepers were dirty with stain. There was no mini fridge and AC was automatic so you could not adjust. You could use a swimming pool on 8th floor or the gym on 6th floor. They have spa service and restaurant too. Overall, it was great experience and we enjoyed the stay.

Yelp
Service was warm & genuine throughout the property - from the valet service, front desk, housekeeping & restaurants.   We're a family of four - with two adults and two children traveling over the weekend for a family wedding.  We all felt comfortable & valued guests at the hotel. There was a small hiccup with our room description that Christopher Blaha at the front desk handled quickly, professionally & entirely to our satisfaction. Location is conveniently on the River Walk, and the sister-property the Omni La Mansión del Rio (previously, the St Mary's College) is directly over the Selena bridge on the other side of the River Walk. The 35-min GO RIO cruise boat begins right outside the hotel off the lower level. There's also a small rooftop pool with full wait service. We ate breakfast every morning at the hotel's Ostra restaurant. Each meal was excellent, and I highly recommend the plentiful bowl of fresh berries, the pancakes & the Roasted Poblano Migas. The smoothies are made to order & are excellent, too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Mokara to other family & friends.

Angie T.

Yelp
I think the resort is beautiful and location is perfect. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because the time that we stayed a few things were not working properly. Internet was not working at all. We tried calling the front desk from the phone in the room, it had just dial tone (we tried 10+times). We called house keeping for a couple of pillows and it just rung. No one picked up. We finally had to call the hotel from our cell phone and got our pillows and informed front desk about issues. But the front desk guy didn't seem to be too concerned. It was definitely frustrating since it is supposed to be one of the best resorts.

Yelp
If you are getting an accessible room, your view will be a brick wall. TV was dated and movies on demand were $20 a pop. That said, service, food were great.
google avatar

Yelp
Spa staff Desiree and Rachel were awesome! Amenities were clean and organized. Pool staff was friendly and attentive with ordering drinks and fruit bowls. Would definitely recommend and come back! :-)

Yelp
Mokara hotel and spa conveniently located on the river walk! Awesome front desk staff!! I enjoyed my stay, however was disappointed with house keeping as they took empty shampoo bottles out of the trash and put them back in the bathroom... wasn't helpful. The king bed I had wasn't too comfortable either.. spacious room though. I really loved the giant jacuzzi tubs in the rooms!!

Yelp
You can bring your kitty. :) I have a 20 year old cat, so any moment can be her last and I didn't feel well leaving her at home. Lucky for me I don't have to.

Yelp
Horrible Horrible manager Peter! Immediately denied my reservation w/confirmation. Refused to help me when I presented him with proof of my paid accommodations. Said, you'll have to deal with the 3rd party company you booked through. I tried to explain that I had reserved and confirmed my reservation through my Corporate department and he tell still refused to help! Tried telling me that others who tried checking in before me who also had booked through their corporate employee portal where booked to SFO location. He then missed me to the lobby to sort out. Just as I started to inquire and ?? He says, you can pay for the full price of $580 a night you can take it up with your corporate travel dept. Basically, I prepaid a confirmed booking at $148. A night for him to NOT honor that right and offer a new rate and room . After 3 hrs of waiting and discussing Through the site they explained that my location was correct and that the would call hotel to have them honor my confirmation. Peter refused to honor their request after several managers explained that they heed to honor this. 2.5 hrs dealing with this Peter DID NOTHING to help! Stood at desk and did nothing. Clearly listening and watching my distress and waiting. Out of pure frustration and lack of customer service from Peter I tell him "shame on you for NOT making this right ". You have the power to fix this even after my 3rd party vendor has called you and faked you to honor and yet he still REFuSED! In fact, he responded that he wax calling security and the police to escort me out of toilet lobby. My corporate travel was on the phone this entire time and were completely taken back my his unprofessionalism and lack of doing the right thing. Bottom line in his conversation to me and also with my corporate travel site was that why would I honor these accommodation at this price when I can get $700 for a room! It was a 100% SCAM! He 100% had security along with police come to hotel . Although I was t escorted out! I had to sit in lobby for more the 2hrs waiting for PETEzr to correct/honor my reservation.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, great location! Helpful and very friendly staff! "Dan the man"is awesome and I recommend the pina coladas from the rooftop bar, they are delicious!

Yelp
An incredible hotel. My wife and I stayed here after our marriage celebration. The rooms and the whole building are clean and beautiful. Our jetted tub was relaxing and the shower had great pressure. The bed was very good, despite my back pains I get. The rooftop pool at night time is romantic and relaxing, not to mention the entire world class spa on the lower levels. Hospitality services were above and beyond, with very gracious and kind staff in all regards. Everyone was just so friendly here!
google avatar

Yelp
We just completed our stay and added photos of the most special Christmas Day hotel stay at Mokara! Edward and Rydick at Ostra exceeded our expectations with a seafood Tower to a remember, strawberries and champagne in our room that accentuated a beautiful view overlooking thousands of lights over the Riverwalk. Nickolas and Clayton began and ended our experience with class and professionalism at the Front and we look forward to booking our next stay (as should you) very soon!!

Yelp
This might be the best hotel in San Antonio! Impeccable service and accommodations, and the spa was definitely the best we've been to in San Antonio. Beautiful place, clean and well kept, friendly staff. We both got services at the spa and it was wonderful, the therapists were knowledgeable and did a great job, well worth the price! I can't recommend this gotten and spa enough!
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
So far the stay has been great! Check in was easy and smooth and our room is beautiful! We are in a spa room on the spa level! Granted the balcony won't be able to be used due to the ice, but that is not the fault of the hotel at all! Hopefully we can sit outside in the morning when the ice has melted! Room is gorgeous, everything is immaculate and they provided champagne and chocolates as requested! Great experience for an anniversary! Will update if there are any changes to my feelings about the hotel but at the moment is is a perfect getaway from the craziness happening in the world!
google avatar

Joshua L.

Yelp
Pulling up to the building, I did not believe it would be as beautiful as it truly is. Went here for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The room was fantastic, bathtub for two, balcony view of the river walk, rooftop pool....enough said. The staff was amazing. Anytime she said she wanted something, it mysteriously arrived to our room. Delicious cheese boards and wine, fresh fruit. Tell me more! Thank you to all of the staff, you made the stay what it was. The building is great, but you are the ones that keep the magic rolling.
google avatar

Yelp
From the outside this place is seemingly small and nondescript, but it is anything but. Mokara is the definition of luxury hotel; the carpets are plush, the tile is beautiful and the bedding is soft and inviting. The rooftop pool is small but enough, one thing they do need is more shade! That Texas heat is no joke! The spa is divine. Maybe I just love being able to walk around naked, idk, but it was great. They have a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Private showers, a dressing room and a relaxation room (?) (idk what it is but it was drinks, lounge chairs and magazines...it was great). Anyway, this place is expensive but totally worth it. I left feeling pampered and rejuvenated. Book a weekend, you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

C M.

Yelp
Top-notch service in a great central location. Some details went awry. For example: the pillows are basically bricks. For what you pay per night, I'd think that Omni (the parent company/owner) would spring for something less like concrete. Very uncomfortable. Other than that, no real complaints. The staff is attentive, friendly, and accommodating, and they took pains to make sure our stay (2 nights) was worth the cost.
google avatar

Sam E.

Yelp
This was a wonderful stay. Everyone went above and beyond and was incredibly hospitable. I have t had ME time in decades. Walked the riverwalk. Ate seafood. Listened to jazz went to a sexy Tavern. Then slept great. Took a Jacuzzi bath then went to the spa! Was able to keep my car valet while I went out and enjoyed SA and the markets. This was worth every penny( while still very affordable with their winter special ). I will be back with girlfriends soon!
google avatar

Yelp
We stayed her on our wedding night. The staff was extremely friendly. They gave us a glass of complimentary sparkling wine and chocolate covered strawberries as well as leaving a heart of rose petals on our bed. It made a great day even more special.

Yelp
Fast check-in, upgraded me , and sent over a birthday cake slice for my birthday that happens to be tomorrow. Staff is very attentive, and the hotel looks amazing from the top down.

Yelp
We stayed at the Mokara nearly 10 years ago on our initial visit to San Antonio. Back then I remember telling people the decor reminded me of a Four Seasons without the high prices. Coming back to San Antonio I briefly scanned the local hotels to see what had changed over the years. Nothing really stood out to me so we decided to go with what we knew the Mokara. The pros, location, pretty much right in the middle of all the action on the Riverwalk. Also the Alamo is an easy walk. We liked the fact that you need to use your key to access the elevators and building from the Riverwalk side. Both times we stayed here it was in the king Riverwalk balcony room. Those rooms are very spacious with decent sized bathrooms. The rooms and common areas are very clean. You can tell they spend a lot of time maintaining these rooms and common areas. There are no scuff marks in the hallways or rooms. I have seen much newer hotels where hallways and rooms are not painted on a regular basis. The staff we encountered which was really only during checkin and passing in the hallways were very friendly. The negatives, the carpet was worn in our room. Not horribly but in areas it was noticeable. The ottoman was torn underneath and fabric hanging. It was clearly noticeable to me, not sure how housekeeping continued to miss this. The room did have a musty odor especially when we first arrived. Not sure if it eventually went away or we just got used to it over time. The air conditioning in our room never went below 69 at night and 72 during the day despite being set on 65. This was probably the most irritating part of our stay. We did complain and supposedly maintenance was sent to check on it but the issue was never resolved. The only way we stayed cool enough in the room was to keep the ceiling fan above the bed on high day and night. I don't know how other people feel but when it is very humid and hot outside I want to come back to a cool room and relax and sleep. The last negative is the water that came out of the shower unit and onto the floor. This made for a very slippery floor, we had to put towels against the shower door to try and prevent the water from going on the floor. The shower head is fixed and can not be angled away from the shower door. So my first stay clearly would have been a five star review. Unfortunately there are too many annoying problems that are not present in 4 or 5 star hotels. This actually should be 3.5 stars. If there is a next time I will give the other Riverwalk hotels a better look.

Yelp
Mokara Hotel and Spa is nestled right in the heart of downtown San Antonio and in walking distance to the river walk. It is the only Forbes recognized hotel in the Alamo city according to the Forbes Travel Guide and the one of the finest properties in the world. The moment you arrive to the front of the hotel you are immediately warmly greeted with a smile that makes you feel at home. The staff truly make a great impression with their level of professionality and respect, and make your experience a memorable one too. The rooms are clean and cozy, almost feels like a pent-house suite in uptown Manhattan. On Park Avenue of course. ;) The apartment style rooms offer a generous king size bed with soft pillows and blankets. The room also offers a large reading desk a nd a media stand to watch movies on demand. The hotel also offers complementary WIFI and coffee. The modern restrooms are large and have both a walk-in shower and a large jetted tub. Mokara Hotel and Spa has great amenities on property such as a large 24 hour fitness center with complementary WIFI, rooftop pools, and a rooftops café. All guests of the Mokara have access to the wet areas in the spa like Hot tubs, steam rooms, showers and relaxation rooms which offer complementary soft drinks, wine and appetizers. Mokara Hotel and Spa is truly a hidden gem in the heart of San Antonio and definitely one of the finest properties in the world.

Yelp
This is a nice boutique hotel under the Omni umbrella. From the agua fresca every day to the Nespresso in your room the small touches are what counts . The first day fruit was delivered with turn down- I've never had miniature kiwis- the size of grapes but they were so good! We had housekeeping skip our room 2 days- don't know why but May made amends by sending a delicious Cava with chocolate truffles and Shannon, the concierge, got us into a restaurant that had no availability. The spa was super- luxurious and well appointed- we had a wonderful experience with excellent massages and facials. It is a very walkable area and on the Riverwalk but we walked to almost everything. Would highly recommend !

Yelp
Mokara + Easily accessible location in quieter part of Riverwalk. + Limited number of rooms leaves lobby and public areas uncrowded and ensures more personal service. + Unusually gracious staff + Spacious modern rooms with high ceilings, large closet and armoire that encompasses TV, safe and minibar + Large bathroom with lots of shelf space, bathtub and separate shower, vanity mirror and scale. Toilet is separate room inside bathroom + Charging station with USB ports on bedstand - No charging station w USB ports on desk - Somewhat noisy A/C - Minibar was locked - No hook to hang robe in toilet - Robes, but no slippers - Restaurant is not up to par with hotel. Standard, uninspired fare.

Yelp
My fiancé surprised me for my birthday by booking me a Saturday morning 'spa day' at what seemed like a highly reviewed, spa -fool-proof right? Wrong The experience that was explained to him and received by me were completely different. He was told I should get there an hour or so before my scheduled services to enjoy the sauna, whirlpool and relax in the spa areas. When we arrived I received a form that asked about medical issues and things to be addressed during my consultation. Form wasn't provided to my "stylist" The consultation was with this lady that must've hated doing hair- she seemed to try to talk me out of the hi-lights and cut I requested, saying the 3 hours I was scheduled wasn't enough time. I pressed for the color and cut because it was my birthday, fiancé had already paid and I had had those services before in less than 3 hours. I asked questions about tools and products throughout the beginning of the coloring process to kill the awkwardness and gather info. Not happening with this girl... she had zero recommendations for me, didn't smile or attempt to start any sort of conversation- kept combing my ear until it was super red and and I was wincing and had to ask her to not. She left dye all around my roots, neck and ears, didn't blow my hair out (after paying waaay more than I ever do for Much better service and results) and left me with hair all over my white sweater. On my birthday. With a family lunch to go to right after. I was hurried out of the salon when her manicure customer came in and didn't have a chance to see the her hi-lights only "took" to a couple inches of my roots in front, nothing more visible on the rest of my 6 inches I chalked it all up to a rough morning for her until I heard how friendly and talkative she was with the next client. I struggled with saying anything to my fiancé because he had tried very hard to make my birthday special and accommodated my wish to finally get a haircut on the one day I didn't have work or stuff planned with the kids, or projects at home or travel plans. I was never offered a champagne, robe, or visit to the sauna, jacuzzi all of which he was charged for. I wasn't even asked if the services provided were satisfactory. TLDR; Don't go here for hair. It's disappointing

Yelp
This is an AMAZING hotel! Perfect location for the river walk. The rooms are beautiful and large. The staff - every single person we encountered was friendly and very professional. My only regret is that we only had time to stay 1 night. The next time I am in San Antonio, I will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
nice hotel, however front desk service is unprofessional and non responsive. my room Airconditioning not cooling room and was told i would get a response in 5 minutes, 30 minutes later and 2 additional calls I still wait. a hotel at significantly lower price point provides better customer service.

Yelp
Let me start off my saying the staff were so friendly, and even upgraded my room for my birthday! The lobby was gorgeous, and location superb! That's where the positive stops. The room was very tired looking. Rip in carpet, and wallpaper in bathroom was peeling off the wall. The bed was the worst I have ever slept in! It was so firm that it left me with pain in my back and hips when I woke up. I hardly slept the entire night! We ended up canceling our second night because of the horrific bed and leaving me in so much pain! For $600 a night, you would expect the beds to be better, and the room to not look like a two star hotel. I have to say how incredibly disappointed I was. I had a spa treatment there a couple years ago when I stayed at the Hilton canopy. I walked over and the spa was fabulous. I remember looking up at those large balconies, thinking how much I would love to stay there one day. I just wish my experience was like those other reviews......

Yelp
New favorite. This was our first visit to the Mokara Hotel in SA, and it will definitely not be our last! The location is perfect. It is located right on the riverwalk within walking distance of tons of restaurants, bars, shopping centers...you name it, you can walk there in less than 10-15 minutes. This does come at a cost, though - namely being that you really need to valet your car. Looking for a spot nearby is pretty much impossible, so be sure to plan ahead for the valet fees each night (the valet staff was amazing by the way, so at least you know your car is in excellent hands when you drop it off!). Checking in was very quick and easy, and since we were there during the week we were able to get the upgrade we qualified for (which was awesome b/c we had a prime view of the riverwalk and a perfect little patio to enjoy it on!). The staff at the front desk was helpful and friendly, and happy to give a number of recommendations of where to go in the area for dinner, drinks, or just to sight-see around the city (all w/in walking distance, too). Walking into our room, the fabulous first impressions continued. There was a huge king-sized canopy bed that was the focus of the room, which was as plush and as comfortable as it gets for a hotel bed, so sleeping was a dream. There was also a desk, an armchair and an armoire in the room, and even despite all of that furniture, we had more than enough room to set up suitcases and enjoy our stay. The bathroom was well-appointed and spacious, so overall we were very pleased with the accommodations. The hotel was also very quiet and felt more intimate than what we expected, which was a welcome break from the usual noise and traffic you expect to find in a chain hotel (this is an Omni Hotel property, so be sure to link your Omni account with your stay, but since it's a boutique hotel it has fewer rooms and its own unique charm and amenities - like the Mokara Spa - amazing!). Overall this hotel was impressive from start to finish, so if you are looking for a beautiful place to stay in San Antonio that has it all - location, amenities, and great service - then treat yourself to a few nights at this fabulous hotel and you won't regret it! Cheers!

Yelp
Fantastic hotel with the best service and hospitality. I travel very frequently and am extra picky about cleanliness and service, the Mokara is a 10! The staff at this hotel goes above and beyond to make sure their guests are happy. Stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of our time here. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and very comfortable beds. Bath products are Nest brand and smell lovely. From the valet to the housekeeping everyone at this hotel was fantastic. Hotel is super clean and has everything you need for a wonderful stay right on the Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio. We will definitely be back. If I could give them ten stars I would. Travel tip...valet is $49/night...use the public parking garage a block away on the other side of the river it's only $9/night ;)

Yelp
The hotel is beautiful, well maintained, in a great location right on the river, kind and helpful staff but and it is a big one, our family of four, booked a premium room but when we arrived our room had two full size beds. My husband and I are small people but we did not get a good night sleep since there was no space to get comfortable. My two teenage daughters had the same complaint. For $498 a night, I would hope that we could get a good night sleep. We would go back only if my husband and I were solo...no kids. A room with a king size bed is the only way to go.

Yelp
Our weekend getaway went down hill fast. In town for a wedding without our kids I decided to surprise my wife with a nice hotel with a River view. Having 4 kids doesn't allow us much getaway time. I've stayed other places on the Riverwalk but this was by far the worst experience I have had. We booked through a 3rd party concierge service and a bottle of champagne was requested but never delivered when we asked about it we were told "the bar is closed nothing we can do about it." We also got the wrong hours for the restaurant so when we showed up to use our food and beverage credit "sorry we are closed." So now our food and beverage credit is wasted. And we can't get that bottle of champagne we have been waiting on either. I get it doesn't sound like much but at the price point this hotel is at it is a problem. The robes that were left in the room had holes in them, and all tattered. Just definitely not what you expected for quality and customer service at this price point. On a positive note the view is really nice. Update at 8am I confirmed we had a late check out of 4pm. The front desk confirmed that was correct. So at 12pm my wife took me to meet the wedding party so we could get ready m, upon returning to our room at 2pm she found all our stuff was gone and the cleaning staff was in the room. She immediately went to the front desk and they told her they removed our belongings because it was past our check out time when she discussed this with the front desk they were some what argumentative and told her our room was booked for an couples early check in. They finally admitted their mistake and had our belongings returned to the room. All the things were just thrown about in our bags. My wife felt her privacy had been violated as someone at the hotel went through all her stuff to include undergarments. Completely unacceptable and because of their awful mismanagement my wife missed the wedding and was in tears.I would give zero stars if possible. I wholeheartedly recommend you stay as far away as possible from this hotel.

Yelp
Really, really nice place. Actually, I think it's the only 4.5 star hotel in San Antonio? Anyway, I booked a room for 2 nights through Priceline for a solo getaway ($100/night off the regular rate!). I arrived later than expected, but was given a warm greeting by the desk clerk. Unfortunately, I was given a handicapped room initially. There was no problem with the room but 1) I felt guilty about being in a handicapped room when I have no issues, and 2) I REALLY wanted to use the jacuzzi style tub, which the handicapped room did not have. So I called and the same friendly female desk clerk told me she'd correct it immediately. She arrived at the door with another key to a regular room in under 5 minutes! My new room was on a higher floor, but as some of the other reviews indicated, not every room has a good city view. Mine over looked a large parking garage, but I was able to see the Hemisfair tower and part of the city, as well. Perhaps the full priced rooms have the best view? Anyway, it was definitely nothing to complain about. The room itself was was immaculate. King sized bed was amazingly comfortable. Service is top notch here, as well as the amenities. Bottled water is available upon request, as well as ice (no self-serve machines). You can also request complimentary coffee be brought to your room (which I did). It's served with a couple of Mexican wedding cake cookies that are a perfect light start to the day! I also used the gym both days, which was extremely well-appointed (see pix). It was too cold to enjoy the rooftop pool, but it was immaculately clean with an adjacent hot tub and gorgeous view of the city. As a hotel guest, you are also able to enjoy some services that the spa offers at no additional charge (relaxation room, steam room, sauna)...I was bummed I didn't have more time to try one, but that was my own fault for sitting around in the room's whirlpool tub too long! All in all, I had a wonderful experience here and will definitely be back again.

Yelp
Nothing short of wonderful! From check-in to check-out the staff was friendly, nice, and great! Personal touches were also nice. 10/10 I want to stay here every time I return, and the spa is an added bonus!

Yelp
So, it was a staycation getaway and honestly I will say from the beginning spend it somewhere else. I give it three stars simply due to value/experience versus cost. We spent the weekend and the sum of the cost was about $1300.00. Now, half of that was the spa so we'll start there. Unfortunately it was nothing special....not worth a little over $700.00. I was not asked about gratuity it was simply added and when I called to get a breakdown of cost she insisted on verbalizing it until I insisted on get an emailed copy. I didn't receive a list of products used during my facial for later purchase as is typical in all facials I've received and never had any idea what was used. The massage was the best of the experience but I would say, save your money and try another spa. The room was nice and quiet the first night but Saturday got a bit loud. I was told they are pet friendly but was charged a $100.00 fee (non-refundable) for pets. There is not a doggie relief area and I was not given any guidance on a place to take my dog for her to use the bathroom. I would not recommend taking your pet. It took a lot of walking to seek out a suitable place for her to relieve herself. It was quiet nerve racking. On to the pool, it was tiny! We couldn't find a seat and had to wait until Sunday to sit poolside and when we asked for a 3:00pm checkout so we would sit poolside longer, we were told that was too late of a checkout. Overall, it was not worth the cost and I would recommend staying elsewhere.

Yelp
The staff at the Mokara Hotel was friendly, courteous, and professional. I received a call from the hotel staff several hours before check- in to ask for any special requests upon arrival and to ensure that our bubbly and chocolate strawberries would be delivered timely and cold. Upon arrival to the hotel, the valet service quickly approached our vehicle to open our doors and to offer us a cold beverage. We were then led to the lobby where we were again greeted by the friendly staff and checked in. We were the only people checking in at that time so our check in process was only a few minutes long. The hotel rep took the time to give us the details of our room, which included the room amenities such as wet bar and bath butler (spa tub with jets) and then proceeded to inform us of all of the hotel amenities (hotel bar, spa area, pool, gym). The lobb staff sent us to our room with cold bottles of water because the weather was nearing the 100's. Right away you notice the classically decorated lobby and seating area and the pleasant smell they have permeating the hotel lobby. We ride the elevator up which requires a hotel room key to activate (great additional security measure) and enter our floor which is also pleasantly decorated. We enter our room and it is gorgeous. I know most hotels are similar in style but I liked the modernness and homely feel you got from the decor of the room. As promised, our bubbly and chocolate covered strawberries were nicely placed on our table. The hotel also gave us a few pieces of fruit which were ripe and delicious with our our bubbly. The room was very clean. I also appreciated the daily service by the housekeeping staff. We didn't request full service but they managed to get in our room when we were out, tidy up and provide us with new towels resetting the room to basically arrival status. There were many positive aspects of this hotel from location, to hotel quality, and friendly staff. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants an upscale feel that is moderately priced. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
San Antonio's only Forbes Four Star hotel, Mokara Hotel is located along the River Walk. While not directly on the river walk (the hotel entrance is located off of Crocket) our room on the 5th floor had a wonderful view of the river walk and the La Mansion Hotel across the way. The room was gorgeous, the bed uber comfortable with the most awesome pillows my pretty little head ever laid upon. The bedding & towels were luxurious and the bathroom was beautifully appointed with plenty of Gilchrist & Soames products. The bathroom was large with a separate room for the toilet, jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Bath salts were left by the tub along with a card that stated there was a bath butler available if I wanted someone to draw a bath for me. The service we received from the concierge, front desk, valet & other service staff members was exceptional. Check in was brief and the desk staff escorted us to the elevator explaining we were to use our key cards each time we used the elevator. I really liked this security, as almost anyone can enter the hotel via the river walk. I did find out that the doors to the river walk are locked around 9pm, only accessible with a key card. We spent a day lounging by the rooftop pool, the chaise lounge was very comfortable & covered with a fitted terry sheet. There is also a small cafe & the staff was very discreet when placing a mimosa within reach. Check out was old school; an envelope was slipped under the door on our final day, no need going to the front desk. Just call the valet to retrieve your luggage and car. Off you go. We spent a long weekend at this luxurious hotel for our first wedding anniversary. The staff & hotel exceeded our expectations. If you want to be pampered silly stay at the Mokara Hotel.
