Molinete Roman Forum Museum

Extremely well laid out and well worth a visit, this site offers a fascinating insight into Cartagena through thousands of years.

Excellent . The way they have developed the site allows visitors to actually walk through the excavations. Fascinating to still be able to see paint on the walls of buildings etc. The museum also houses some nice finds like the frescoes. Seeing 2000 year old sewers is pretty cool too

Small museum with artifacts from the Roman excevations, leading to the large outdoor forum excevation itself. Atmospheric place to wonder aroud the old remains, well explained and larger than you might expect. Small souvenir shop at the end.

Astonishing view of Roman life. For €7 you can enter, although we bought tickets for all Roman attractions for only €5.30. Amazing collection with clear translation and perfect examples. Highly recommended!

Great museum and archeological excavations with translations in Spanish and English. Be sure to visit Molinete Archeological Park which is directly above the forum and museum (free). It's not a hard walk at all, and you have great views and get a history of the hill. We walked through Molinete Archeological Park before entering the museum and touring the archeological excavations. If you are not doing a guided tour, highly recommend purchasing the 4, 5 or all inclusive pass/voucher that will get you into multiple or all attractions, as it makes it less complicated to visit the major attractions. The Cartagena multi passes are found on the Puerto de Culturas website. With the multi attraction/voucher pass, the Roman Theater and Museum only come together, and count as 2 attractions. As a history buff, I definitely could have spent more time here reading about and studying all of the artifacts/excavations, but had to stay on a steady pace in order to see everything that we wanted to see in a day We were able to visit Conception Castle, Roman Forum and its museum, the Roman Theater and its museum, and do a little shopping before getting back to the ship with time to spare.

Visited Cartagena a few times, but never went to this museum before. And during our last trip we decided to finally spend some time in this museum. We saw great peace of history, part of original roman road and building. Learned some more about their advanced skills to that time. Thank you!

Fantastic, walk through museum. Beginning in a conventional sense before taking through the forum itself. Wonderful how they have integrated the modern and ancient. Probably unsuitable for those of unsure footing, so take a helping hand! The forum paving is 1800 yrs old! If you've got wheels, they have you covered, with lifts on all the stairs. Allow a couple of hours to experience it all.

An eye candy for the lovers of Roman archeology. Roman Curia, temple of Isis, Atrium and thermae where you can clearly see how the Roman baths worked (and the parts they consisted of.) Carefully preserved mosaic and elements of colorful wall decorations. Totally worth the money and time spent. Also don't miss the free archeological park up the hill.
