What is one of the best ways to end a sunny day in Seattle? With ice cream of course! After a visit to Kerry Park, my family drove about five minutes to Molly Moon's for a sweet treat to help beat the heat.
Enticed by the August flavors of the month, we each ordered a single scoop with two flavors (two half-scoops). I went for the Peaches & Cream and Blackberry Sorbet. With both being fruity, I figured they would pair nicely together. The Blackberry Sorbet was super refreshing with the perfect balance of both tart and sweet. I find most sorbets extremely sugary for my liking, but this one tasted truly natural and was chock full of berry seeds!
On the other hand, the Peaches & Cream was a little disappointing. It had light swirls of peach jam, but they were almost completely masked by the flavor of heavy cream. With this said, the ice cream was relatively rich, but definitely missing that essence of peach that I expected. Perhaps chunks of peach would have elevated this flavor further. On a similar note, a couple of my family members tried the Lemon Blueberry, which they enjoyed, but were seeking a stronger zing of citrus.
Located next to Top Pot Doughnuts, this is one "sweet" corner of Queen Anne. No wonder the service is so personable! The two employees behind the counter welcomed us and made friendly conversation despite the current situation where we were quickly in and out of the shop. I'm already looking forward to seeing the next round of their seasonal flavors!
