Google
Great little puppy friendly place. I think I should have tried the cinnamon roll. Looking forward to going back.

Google
Loved the location!! Staff took a bit to come seat us, but we were able to pick our table right next to the window. Lots of good looking choices on the menu! We ordered the Joe’s scramble and chose to split it. (It comes with four eggs and lots of add ins! Neither one of us could eat a full one! A bit bummed that there was a split charge on such a big meal). Ordered it with well done hash browns. Love that you can order as many pieces of toast that you want! Scramble came out perfect! It was so good. A bit disappointed with the hash browns, they were mushy and undercooked. The flavor was good though. Had to grab a massive cinnamon roll to go!!! Yum!!! All in all a great breakfast in a wonderful atmosphere. Server was attentive and nice. Will be back.

Google
This place is pretty chill and kids friendly! We stopped.by to get some food as we went thru carson and it was ok. The food wasn't not hot when it came out. We didn't have any napkins. Only 1 napkin each! The silverware was like worn out and weird. The ladies in here are very nice and I didn't feel rushed when I didn't know what I wanted. But the atmosphere was great as well and I loove all the decor in there. They also have a few things to buy for souvenirs. The sink in the womens bathroom is broken and the men's bathroom was out of order so my son couldn't go in there. I like it but I'm not sure if I'd return!

First time for my wife & I and it was great! Very good service and great food 😃

Google
The customer service was great here.. no doubt about that. Sadly, the food quality wasn’t. We waited 40 minutes for our food. We noticed other people that sat down after us get their food before us. My eggs were rubbery and cold when I got them and my potatoes were not seasoned. Pretty upsetting. I like to support local businesses always… but hopefully I can try them again one day.

Google
6/2/25 Pretty busy for a monday. Seemed understaffed. We waited a little long for our food to come out but boy was it worth the wait. Its very hard to find a restaurant where you can really taste the the love and care that went into cooking your meal. Even though the service was slow, the staff were kind. Will definitely be back :)

Google
This place is lovely and the food was great! I am giving 4 stars only because the coffee drinks (mocha, capuccino, etc.) were not espresso based as I would expect, instead they used a powder, and as a coffee connoisseur, that was just unforgivable. Besides that, the food tasted like something my grandma would make, which I appreciated.

Google
My wife and I went here for the first time this morning and we were so impressed by the service and very good food. We walked in and were seated immediately. As we were sitting down, our server took our drink order and had it out to us in a couple of minutes. We both ordered burgers from the lunch menu and our food was delivered in about 10 minutes. The food was very good, typical diner fare, but the service is where they really stood out. Mom and Pop’s will be our new, go-to restaurant for breakfast and brunch.

Yelp
We passed by the other day and decided this morning we would give it a try. It looked like a great mom and pop spot we could make a regular place to go to. Mom & Pops Diner is located in beautiful downtown Carson City. Right across the street from the state legislature building. Walking up to the doorway I saw the menu posted on the wall and we gave it a look over before going in. It looked like they had some great choices. They have what looks like outdoor seating when the weather permits. Because they are dog friendly you can bring your dogs provided they are friendly. Walking in the interior has a beach decor and atmosphere. It is very clean. A little small though. They were having a private party in an adjoining room. So anyone else coming in had to sit in the front part of the restaurant. No one greeted us as we walked in. Until a man came out and said we can sit wherever. Turns out he is the owner. He seemed like a nice guy. He brought our coffee and menus. We gave it a pretty good looking over and I decided on the Southwestern breakfast. Which was scrambled eggs with prime rib green chili tomatoes onion and cheese. You can have hash browns or a sort of home fries. I think they call it Bobs potatoes? I honestly don't remember. Considering the large party that they had our food didn't take too long to arrive. It honestly looked amazing. But as I was eating I just couldn't stop thinking how busy the food was. It was a great idea coming up with this recipe. But it was way too much meat and not seasoned very well if at all. The potatoes however were amazing. I definitely recommend trying it. The coffee was amazing as well. The egg dish is something I wouldn't order again. But that's just my opinion. Not saying it was bad. Just not for me. So next time we go I'll try something different. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend eating here. They only do lunch and breakfast. So if you go on a weekend get there early bcz the kitchen is small and it can take time to get your food. Just a suggestion.

Yelp
Very reasonably priced. We ordered biscuits and gravy. Highly recommended the cinnamon roll! It's a sugar bomb but made fresh daily in house. Great brunch spot when walking around downtown in the state capital.

Yelp
Service was good. Friendly, timely. Husband and I went in for lunch. I had BBQ pulled pork sandwich with fries and he had Honey Mustard Chicken bowl. Prices were very reasonable. Both my sandwich and fries were very bland. I think if the fries were crispy they may have been better. I liked the BBQ sauce but the meat was dry and not a lot of flavor. The chicken bowl was also okay. Plenty of veggies, rice and chicken, but it didn't taste very honey mustard. Overall very average. Also it was really cold in the room we sat in.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast joint in CC. Why? Because you can get lunch anytime. I do really love the single pancake with 1 sausage. Just about Perfect for my appetite. But my favorite is the prime rib French dip. Not the fancy one with cheese and veggies, but the straight up plain one. I can't get through a half on my own so I usually drag it home with the side salad and eat on it for a couple days. Not bad for $12 and change. Super nice people. I like the outdoor seating, good attentive service and a fun old building

Cathy M.

Yelp
Food and service stinks. Quite disappointing. Especially since it once was a good place to eat.

Yelp
Cute place we happened upon on a drive to Carson on Veteran's Day. We were unsure if we wanted breakfast or lunch so this place worked out. They have breakfast and lunch specials Monday-Friday. Breakfast specials stop at 11:00 and then the lunch specials start. It's just two rooms with about 20 tables. Tables can be moved for larger parties. It is decorated in a tropical theme with some little Christmas trees scattered about. My Reuben was good, the bread was toasted perfectly and they serve our favorite type of fried-steak fries!! Hubby's blue cheese burger was cooked a little rarer than he likes but flavors were there. A slight hint of blue cheese that didn't over power. This would be a nice place to eat on a beautiful spring day. They have outside seating when the weather cooperates.

Douglas T.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast and excellent service. And now, I go there weekly. The cinnamon roll french toast is so, so good.
google avatar

Chuck M.

Yelp
The food was very good but the price for what you get was a little steep. The service was very good. We sat outside as it was a beautiful morning.

Jill L.

Yelp
We stopped by for lunch on a day trip. The food was amazing as well as the cozy spot at the window to people watch. We definitely recommend stopping for a bite to eat.

Yelp
What a pleasant place to eat brunch today! The weather was perfect in the shade and it was fun to people watch from the outdoor patio. Everything we ordered came out delicious. I had a Philly cheesesteak made with prime rib and my lovely wife had her favorite French toast. The restaurant is dog friendly and although we don't have a dog, the ones in attendance today were well behaved. The only thing that was off was not the fault of the restaurant but the one directly across the walking street, Firken Fox? Anyway there was a chain smoker out side and occasionally when the breeze went the wrong way we were treated to that disgusting smell. Otherwise the service at this restaurant was great and they left us wanting for nothing.

Yelp
Met "Pops" Jr and he was such a friendly and hospitable man. Definitely gives you the mom & pops diner feel the moment you walk in. Food was amazing! Went during lunchtime but breakfast is served all day so I had to try the french toast! Also, the cinnamon roll is MASSIVE but it is a must try!

Yelp
Went there for lunch with a couple friends 2 days. It's in an old building. Inside was decorated in a Hawaiian theme. Small place but nice. We were advised by the server that she was the only server working but she would try her best to get everyone served in the restaurant. Well she did way better than other restaurants with a bunch of servers. The service in my mind was excellent. We didn't wait long for our food and she kept our drinks full while we waited. I ordered the eggs Benedict. It was cooked good. Maybe the eggs were just a tad bit undercooked but still edible. There was enough hollandaise sauce for the whole meal. I also opted for the pops potatoes. I guess the pops potatoes is made in house as opposed to the hash browns. It tasted like they sprinkled a little sugar on the potatoes. Kind of weird. Potatoes are already sort of bad for you. But then you add sugar? Oh well it tasted ok. I also ordered a cinnamon roll to go. That thing was huge and it tasted good. I had to warm it in the microwave. It was soft and had plenty of frosting. All in all, I'd come back and try something different. I liked this place.

David H.

Yelp
Great service, large gut popping portions. 4 egg omelette was way over cooked with egg hard as a softball. Didn't have spinach or pepper, and the sausage was cooked in round circles instead of broken up so every bite get a sausage. Hash browns wasn't crispy as I asked. Could do better

Yelp
My wife and I can always count on a very nice lunch at Mom and Pop's. We have never been disappointed here over the past 9 years. We find the prices very reasonable, they have something for everybody, a very complete menu. There are many places to eat breakfast and lunch in Carson City, but we never have the desire to go anywhere else, we find great food at reasonable prices here. P.S. The sweet fries are the best we have eaten, anywhere!
google avatar

Terrence S.

Yelp
Let me begin by saying the food is solid. However I have been here twice in the past 30 days. To try to see if the first day was just an anomaly. It was not. The service here is very poor and there are a few things miscommunicated on the menus. The food comes out very slow and the staff is not very friendly. Sit inside when you go. Flies will overwhelm your experience eating on the patio,

Justin D.

Yelp
Food is delicious always good . Try any of there Benedict's or the pops potatoes with gravy and cheese . Service is amazing every time and the ambiance is cool .

Yelp
Was looking for a place to have a very late breakfast when we came upon Mom & Pop's Diner, and we're glad we did. They greeted us with a smile when we came in. We decided to find a table outside since it was such a warm and pleasant afternoon. Our server was right there within a minute of sitting down and continued with prompt and courteous service for the rest of our time there. The food came a lot faster than we expected considering the number of people there. The omelet I ordered was really filling, more food than I could think about finishing. The coffee though was a bit weak and not the best I've had at a diner, but hey, the entire experience was far better than we expected. This is truly a mom and pop enterprise. Will certainly come back the next time we head over to Carson City.

Yelp
We are always on the search for a local mom and pop restaurant and the name was fitting! lol . When we first got there, we walked in and saw a sign that said wait for hostess for seating. We waited a little bit with no help. Luckily a Patron leaving said to go to the other room and they would help us. We were then told to sit anywhere. The restaurant was decorated with a beach theme, colorful and fun. Service was good, we had the usual eggs over easy, sausage and potatoes that were pretty good.

Yelp
Before you sit down, check out the bathroom. The bathroom hasn't been wiped down or cleaned for months. The food at Mom and Pops was the worst we have had in awhile. The patty melt was a very small piece of ground beef made with american cheese and diced uncooked red onion, priced at 13.99. The prime rib sandwich was roast beef and was terrible. The large breakfast was a normal size breakfast that most other places serve and the price was 17.99. The cooks in the back, we could see them from our table, had dirty t-shirts and jeans on and none of them were wearing aprons. Tiny our waitress, didn't stop at our table, just to take the order and delivery, she ran by and asked if everything was ok, but just kept on walking. This place may have been good at the start BUT not now. You leave this place feeling like you just got RIPPED off. Terrible!

Vivian A.

Yelp
First time here but my boyfriend is a regular. Finally tried his favorite breakfast spot in town and it did not disappoint! Love all of the decor, super artsy and the food was delicious.

Tina L.

Yelp
Good, American diner fair. Our breakfast arrived hot and very tasty. Service was friendly and attentive.

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Great service. Had the lunch special chicken wrap with salad. Was okay. Nothing special but the price was good. Will try something else next time. Breakfast is always good!!

Rob P.

Yelp
The staff was great, and the food was good. Pretty typical of a nice diner experience so who could ask for more.

Yelp
Super good home made food nothing tastes like it came from a distributors bagged pre made food. Super good definitely a new favorite

Yelp
Nice people, plenty of outdoor seating with shade, decent food. The breakfast menu is pretty extensive.

Yelp
Loved my experience! Also keep in mind that this place is very busy and I went on a Sunday at 11am. I read the Yelp reviews before taking the chance and visiting this place, so I was aware that it may take 30 minutes- 1 hour to be seated plus another wait for your food to come out. My party was in no rush and we rather wait for good food. At $90 after tip and tax for a party of 4 is a really good price and all of our portions were heavy! We all left satisfied and full. Our food consisted of hash browns, potatoes, biscuit and gravy, pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, eggs, and omelette. We had 2 orders of the hungry man, omelette, and an order of toast with eggs and stuff. Everything was good. I've never really experienced bad eggs, bacon, and sausage, but I am picky with my pancakes, and biscuit and gravy. Both of which I absolutely approve of and would most definitely come back to get again when I'm in town. Bathrooms are super cute and clean. I like the bathroom decor more than the restaurant itself.

Kevin O.

Yelp
I felt like I was on a Saturday Night Live episode. Rarely have I seen such unprofessional, rude behavior toward customers! These folks are a total joke! The owners were the absolute worst! Zero thank you, zero personality. Rude from the second I was seated. I thought I'd entered some parallel universe. The most disappointing part was that the ambiance and food was on point! If these jokes of people got their act together, this would be an incredible place. If you want great (slightly overpriced) food, a beautiful setting, and to be treated like complete and utter garbage, this is definitely the place for you! Otherwise, I'd probably give the business to a different local company. These folks don't deserve your business.

Yelp
Please be aware, the wait is a bit lengthy when ordering, but the food is delicious! Upon arrival, the staff were kind and helpful. The menu has a little bit of everything so you're bound to find something you'll like. The wait... again... was lengthy! But it says right on the front of the menu that you'll have a while to wait so it's pretty fair. The food was absolutely worth the wait! It was delicious and filling and my husband, sons, and I all left happy. We look forward to returning!

Yelp
Sat in a sunny corner on a cool morning and enjoyed great service and music. Fireplace turned on eventually to take chill off. Full brrakfast menu with lots of options. Breakfast served all day. Good food Benedict and Gravy. A bit pricey.

Dawn L.

Yelp
We dropped in for a late breakfast and got our drinks right away. Somehow our table got forgotten and there was a long wait to order our food. We got oatmeal and a humongous cinnamon roll! The food was outstanding and they didn't charge us since we had to wait. We will definitely go back! Thank you for the breakfast - loved it!!

Susan K.

Yelp
Love the food! I had breakfast at Mom and Pops. It was so tropical and relaxing inside. We ordered the small breakfast of egg, potatoes, sausage or bacon and toast. It was delicious. Pop's potatoes are the best. The scrambled egg was cooked perfectly and the sausage tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant. Also we didn't have to wait long to be served by a smiling server.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in this morning while passing through. We were returning from our weekend in Lake Tahoe on our way back to Medford, Oregon. We were craving breakfast and found this cool little spot on the Yelp app. We were a little leery as some of the reviews were not very good. The restaurant currently has outdoor and indoor dining. We decided to dine inside. We were quickly greeted by the hostess and escorted to our table. Our waitress was out to us almost immediately with complimentary water. She returned rather quickly to take our order. The food was out at a very reasonable time. The chorizo omelet was delicious. The overall service and dining experience was very pleasant. We truly enjoyed our meal and were very glad we stopped by for a little breakfast!!

R H.

Yelp
Party of two. Vibe was good, lots of friendly people, got our order in and drinks were delivered right away. But after that, we waited near 40 minutes before the server came by again and only to deliver the food. Coffee and juice at the table had been dry for some time, no offers on refills. After the food came, the server didn't show up again to check on us, just deliver our bill. LOTS of people waiting on food, we noticed some tables skipped. Either they are WAY understaffed, or there are too many seats, or the servers don't know how to run tables. The initial charm drains out the longer you wait for basic service. It's really too bad as this place has the potential to be better than the way it's run. The owner even joked with a local about how bad the service has gotten. The food was decent and plentiful.

Yelp
Hi I love eating here. It is never a fussy type of restaurant. You can go in and order your food and gals are always nice that work there. It might be a long wait but it is worth the wait. I love the food, ambiance and the decor. Not only that, their picanta sauce taste to die for.

Scott N.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Reasonable prices and great menu options. Try this place for breakfast, brunch or lunch, you won't be disappointed
google avatar

Sabrina L.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for years. Finally on our way to Carson and thinking about a place for brunch, this place popped in my head. It was snowing so the place did not have a wait like I heard they sometimes do. The place is not very big. Decor inside was a bit cheesy but we like cheesy so we thought it was cute. We sat down and got my mother hot chocolate and my daughter hot tea. We looked over the menu and thought the prices were pretty reasonable on most items. I decided on the Turkey melt and upgraded to onion rings, 10/10 stars all the way. Sandwich was perfect and those onion rings were the bomb! My daughter got the Cinnamon Roll French Toast. She said definitely a 10/10! We ordered my 86 year old mother the lite eater with pancake and sausage. Pancake was tasty but the sausage was a bit too spicy for her. Price was only $6.99 which is great for someone who barely eats, a 8/10 because of the sausage. My husband decided on the chicken sandwich melt with salad. He got a huge salad but dressings were in small to go containers. He didn't finish his salad which he normally does because he loves salads but I think he needed more salad dressing. His chicken had a great huge green Ortega pepper on it however when he took a bite he said the sandwich was a bite dry. There was no mayo or mustard on the table and our server never offered any. We asked our server for some and again they were brought in little to go containers. My husband like it better but still said it needed something more, a 7/10. I personally didn't try it but it did look good. We got our check. Again prices for our meals were definitely reasonable so I was highly disappointed that my mother's hot chocolate was $3.99. It was probably 10 oz. No offer of refills or anything and she drank it all within a few minutes. Her pancake and sausage was again $6.99 but a cup of hot chocolate was $3.99. Still confused why not $2.99 like the hot tea, just my opinion. Service was also real good. We will definitely come back.

John C.

Yelp
Food and Service was Great. my Patty Melt was juicy and tasty. Salad was fresh! If Breakfast is anything like the lunch menu, I'd be there for breakfast to!

Glenda C.

Yelp
Excellent menu choices, great tasting food and efficient and friendly service. Love this hometown Restaurant!

Yelp
On a whim we stopped in here this morning. The atmosphere is very "whimsicalish". The hostess was kind and our waitress was very friendly and attending. The resteraunt was clean and the service was quick and friendly. Fresh Hot Cinnamon Roll: made in house and if you love sweets it is a necessity to try. Bring a friend though, it is an entire plate by itself. Hungry Man Breakfast w/Pop's potatoes: this came with sausage, bacon, eggs, potatoes and a side of biscuits and gravy. I am 96% sure that the meats were farm fresh. No grocery store sells bacon and sausage to that quality. Everything was homemade and delicious. Prime Rib Dip: this is generally my go to on a lunch menu. This is probably the best "French dip" I have had in this entire area!!! The aujus was fantastic and the meat melted in your mouth faster than the roll it was on. I highly recommend a visit here, during the week it is easier to get in and out. There are signs everywhere stating it could be a wait on the weekend. Even if you had to wait I am.certain it is worth it.

Yelp
We were heading to a lunch spot and as we walked by we decided to try this place instead and we were happy we did. They had been busy before we arrived around 1pm and were out of a lot of things. But we managed to get a few burgers with salads that really hit the spot. Prices are right and service was great. Definitely wanna come in earlier to get some of their fresh soup and zucchini which we missed out on today. They have a ton of seating and a nice outside patio area. We will be back.

Yelp
Finally tried this spot and all I can say is WOW!! The only place I've found so far that can compete with my homemade biscuits and gravy! The biscuits were so light and fluffy and cooked to perfection! That cinnamon roll was light and fluffy as well! So yummy the only thing that could have made it better would have been raisins but of course my husband disagrees with that statement! We will be having the rest of it for breakfast tomorrow!! Only $6 for that monster!! Check this place out!! I love this part of Carson City even more now! Super friendly service too!
google avatar

Courtney R.

Yelp
Only one star just so I can post review. Food presentation was excellent, waitress was awsome, however food was not good. Philly was tasteless meat with cold cheese on top. The hungry man eggs were supose to be over medium but egg whites were slimy and raw. The gravy on the biscuits were cold. The hashbrowns with the chicken fried steak were cold . This is probably a great place to eat as a couple but definitely not for a group as the burger was the only thing warm and eat able. The waitress to try to make it better by taking food back to warm up, but definitely not a good experience for a table of 6.

Nova B.

Yelp
WOW!! What a disappointment this place has turned into! They have raised their prices and cut back on the amount of food as well as the quality of their food. They have a new server, short Hispanic girl who, every time I've been in there, never smiles, acts like the guest are a bother, and walks as if the guest can hurry up and wait! Ask for crispy fries, you get barely cooked. Ask for over medium eggs get over Easy. As a local, my place of business, we use to go there 3 times a week, not now! Pops will not give any discounts to people who give him their money 3 times a week for years, but will raise his prices. I understand the economic downfall, however, try training your staff to be friendlier (including yourself), stop raising prices and cutting back on the quality and amount of the food and you might not loose customers but, as for this customer, I will not be going back. What a shame!

Yelp
Came to this place for first time. No clear signage as "edit to be seated" or "seat yourself". Ordered a spicy chicken salad. Not impressed. A basic iceberg lettuce with a few croutons, small portion of dressing. Shredded chicken sitting aside a bed of lettuce with bagged shredded cheese. Other member chose Philly steak sandwich which was dry. Couple of funky pieces of meat. Nothing special here other than the decor. I could've got a better bagged salad mix at the grocers. Sadly disappointed all around.

Yelp
Breakfast here is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! So good ! The service here is fantastic & they're beyond friendly ! Super cute place ! Highly recommend

Yelp
Very pleased. Chicken fried steak is the best in Carson City. Friendly staff. Portion a little light for my taste, yet again, very great chicken fried steak !!

Yelp
The service is incredibly hit or miss. Depends on what server you get. The food is okay. Overall, mediocre at best.

Yelp
Had the spinach and mushroom scramble and Coffee. Yummy potatoes! Not jumping up and down over the service but this was a fine breakfast stop!

Yelp
I had the Nachos Scrambled Eggs with egg whites. Best thing I have had here!!! OMG, I really enjoyed it. I think you should server tortillas rather then toast with it, but otherwise thumbs up on this on Doug!!! Service great as always!!!
