Mominoki Hotel

The staff were wonderful, and the shuttle driver kindly took us to and from our dining spot. The hotel was very clean, though the facilities felt a bit dated. I was surprised to find that our room didn’t have a private bathroom—we had to use the public onsen's shower area instead. We also had to lay out our own futons, which was unexpected. That said, the breakfast was lovely and we really enjoyed it. However, we were confused when the staff told us it cost 1,800 yen per person, even though it was listed as 1,500 yen on Trip.com. The location was a bit out of the way, and with the rainy weather, we relied on the free shuttle, which runs on a set schedule.

Stayed late June to see the stunning Itawake view. No skiing, just soaking in Hakuba’s nature. Hotel was peaceful, surrounded by trees — perfect for relaxing walks. Staff were friendly and super helpful. Room was clean, a bit small for what we booked. Breakfast was okay, mix of Japanese and Western. The onsen was the real highlight — so refreshing after a day out. Even without snow, Mominoki was a great base. Cozy, quiet, and welcoming. Would stay again.

The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and welcoming! Nice onsen, clean and tidy with a nice locker room. The hotel is slightly dated, but very clean and well-kept. Very short shuttle ride to the ski lifts. I stayed at the end of March so it was very quiet but we enjoyed having the hotel to ourselves! WiFi was spotty at times but overall a nice ski-lodge feeling to the hotel. We even got to see some monkeys hanging around the hotel- very neat!

Brilliant place to stay. It has that Grand Hotel Budapest vibe of a being grand old lady of accommodation and well cared for and ran. Very close to ski hire, lessons and several restaurants. And they will drop you off/pick you up from those further afield. Great breakfast, onsen, lobby, and staff were always very helpful. Would love to come back.

Amazing staff! So knowledgeable and helpful! Truly loved everything about this hotel: location, service, onsen, ambiance, breakfast and supper buffet, after ski bar, …! Our stay at Mominoki Hotel was magical! Surrounded by the breathtaking Japanese Alps, this charming hotel provided the perfect setting for an unforgettable winter vacation. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk to the Kokusai 1 chairlift and 15 minutes on foot to Happo One Village. The ski resort shuttle stop was conveniently near the hotel, and the Rhythm ski rental shop was right across the road. Whether you're hitting the slopes or exploring the area, everything is within easy reach. From the moment we arrived, the service stood out. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome—always friendly, attentive, and ready to assist. Their communication before our stay was excellent, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience. The food was another highlight! Both breakfast and dinner featured a fantastic mix of Japanese and Western options, with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Every meal was a delight, from local specialties to seafood and decadent desserts. The onsen was truly a dream. Soaking in the outdoor hot spring while snowflakes gently fell around us was an experience we will never forget. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day on the slopes. Mominoki Hotel exceeded all our expectations, offering a cozy, authentic, and welcoming atmosphere. If you’re looking for the perfect winter escape in Hakuba, this is the place to be!

Travelled with a large ski party to this cosy hotel, with friendly staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome throughout our stay. Thank you.||Our room was clean and warm but small, with the smallest bathroom I have ever seen. Our beds, however were extremely comfortable and ensured a good nights sleep. There was always plenty of choice of food at breakfast and dinner. There is a pub on the same site across from the hotel along with the ski shop. Would happily stay here again.

I found the hotel was very convenient for us on our trip to Hakuba. First, the have a shuttle that goes to and from the Hakuba Station so when you arrive and leave, the shuttle can take you there. It's also conveniently located next to a Ski and snowboard rental shop so you don't need to go to any of the resorts if you're looking for a rental or to purchase anything related. There's also a shuttle service that takes you to any one of the resorts so you can go explore all of them if you're there more than a few days. Or you can walk to Hakuba Happo, which is only a few minutes away. The hotel rooms itself are quite large if you compare them to your typical Japanese business or Japanese traditional hotel. We fit three people in one room quite comfortably. The bathrooms of course are a little smaller than average but I don't think we ever took a shower while we were staying here because every morning and every night we went down to the onsite Onsen. That's the other plus, after a day of boarding with your body beat up, you can relax and rejuvenate in the hot onsen. There's an indoor and outdoor version and of course the showers are here where you can cleanse yourself of the day. Our package came with free breakfast buffet, so that was a bit of a plus b/c if you go without the package it's a bit pricey. That goes for dinner as well. To be quite honest, there isn't much places or choices to eat around the area so you'll have to either make due here with the cost or go out to the village. The plus side is that if you schedule something, they will drop you off and pick you up. You just need to be sure you have access to a phone to call them up for the pick up. Make sure you at least reserve one night to do the Wagyu shabu shabu. Yum! Outside there's a dry room locker room to store all of your ski and boarding equipment so you don't have to lug it up to your room all the time. Very nice. Overall, I'd stay here again. The location and convenience of the hotel made it an overall good experience.

Nice hotel but the pricing on the buffet has gone wild. They raised it again! At best it's a $27.95 buffet it was painful at $32 now over $40. Lol. They don't even serve a full seafood buffet!? In Japan out of all places. It's designed to capture the stranded hotel tourist. Cmon Mominoki surely you can wake up and come back to earth. There's no war on yet. Kim hasn't touched the red button in weeks. The food is not memorable. Wake up Mominoki this is totally egregious and not Nihongo like. You can do better offer more and charge a fair amount. It's cheaper in the roppongi district than here.
