Mom's Sweet Shop / Soft Serve / Acai / Smoothies

Went here with my husband for a quick sweet treat. He got an orange soda float, and I got an acai bowl. Both were fantastic!

Delicious soft serve ice cream. Reasonably priced and fair portions for toppings. Friendly staff, too!

This place was really cool and the staff are genuine surfer/skater dudes who were super friendly! This was our first time so I’m not sure of the backstory, but it seems like the owners may have opened the shop in honor of their mom, which was super cool and unexpected. Merchandise was awesome and unique and the shop is decorated perfectly. The truffles, chocolate shake, and acai bowl were really amazing too! Definitely a must-see if you’re in the area! Edit: the shop is named after the original “Mom’s Sweet Shoppe” that one of the owners grew up frequenting as a kid. As the website says, the atmosphere is young and fresh, yet nostalgic and comfortable — designed to make it feel like home!

First off the staff is amazing, so kind, so lovely and made me feel so welcome the moment I walked up to the counter. I needed that today. Secondly, BEST MILKSHAKE I'VE HAD IN MY LIFE. I know, I know, I was just raving about another shake I had a week ago, but this one made me want to cry tears of joy it was so lush. I would cheat on that other shake with this one (and I did). The place is super clean, so cute inside, and again SHAKES ARE TO DIE FOR. Like this would be on my last meal request. Now I just have to see how many shakes I can have for the remainder of time here. Just go, go now!

Great lil boutique vibe when you walk in, Ladies beautiful summer wear, Nike shoes, Used Albums, OXB souvenirs and the Supreme Sweetness of candy and the OXB staple ....ICE CREAM. Stop here you will glad you did!

Great smoothies and drinks with eclectic clothing and delicious candy and chocolates. They also have a skate shop with boards and hardware. Interesting store for everyone adult and kids alike. Edit: second visit was for ice cream and candy. The the prices of both are incredible, you can actually bring your kids to get some soft serve with candy sprinkles without dropping $20. And only $10 a pound for candy? With an amazing selection of sour candy.

We came here today with my wife and six kids and it was excellent. Delicious smoothies and desserts with clean ingredients and friendly customer service. Good local business to support.

I only had the soft serve vanilla ice cream and it had absolutely no flavor and instantly started melting all over the place bcs it was ice milk. The other person that I was with got a chocolate cone with the same result. Need to have better quality soft serve ice cream.

Craved a milkshake, found this place nearby. Did not disappoint. Parking lot was full about 8 spots. (Good sign). There are a couple of grass spots at the side road (watch for the no parking signs). Staff were all super nice. Got the Moor Shore Mudslide shake. Soooooooo guuuuuuuud! Will be going back to try other flavors. Plenty of places inside and outside to enjoy your sweets.

Just a note they are soft serve, not hard ice cream. Lots of options to chose from for milkshakes! Smalls and large so you don't overindulge. Milk Oreo was good. Cute candies to chose from as well. Staff are pleasant

I don't know anyone in my house that didn't enjoy Mom's. It was (dangerously) located across the street from our rental, so someone was always stopping by there to grab a shake, a smoothie, an açaí bowl, or just to shop merch. Half the store was a merch shop and the other half was a sweets shop. My sisters all found goodies there (rings and clothing) that they bought. My kids got Pez (who remembers Pez?!). Prices are on the higher side, but there are also things you won't readily find elsewhere. This is right off the main road and def worth a stop guys!

Loved this cute moms ice cream, smoothie and açaí shop! In the evenings they close the main storefront but the courtyard walk up ordering window stays open until later. The strawberry milkshake was incredible!! The strawberry flavor was so fresh. The other smoothies, ice cream and milkshake flavors sound amazing.

We stopped in for ice cream and smoothies. The service was great and friendly. The store is really cool. Lots of great items to check out.

Hands down our favorite shop in OBX and absolute favorite place to get Açaí. Our family has a tradition of getting açaí wherever we go, no matter where we travel we look for the best açaí place. We cannot even begin to explain how much we love the açaí here. We went every day 3 days in a row and have yet to find a better açaí place. Shop is so super cute like a posh boutique and the owners are so friendly and you feel like you're going into a shop where like Cheers "everybody knows your name". And we can't forget the soft serve and waffle cone. Something for everyone. We will find vacation homes in Obx based on the proximity of it to this shop! Not to mention their packaging which screamed quality and attention to detail. Everyone was so nice especially considering we were a group of 13 and with all our order and specs for each they were so accommodating. We could go on and on but really it's meant to be experienced for oneself!

Signs all around the building saying "Order until 10pm!" Went uo to window at 9:53 and were denied service. Very upset.

Super cute gift shop ... a bit on the pricy side. A nice variety of home goods, clothes, cosmetics, old vinyl records, gifts etc. The bonus is the attached ice cream shop complete with retro candy and treats. My hubs got the best vanilla peanut butter shake. We wanted to go back to try the açaí bowls but couldn't since they were closed the last 2 days of our vacay. I would recommend stopping in to at least check it out and get a treat. Ps: We bought 2 chocolate bars made by Mast. All organic ingredients which we find appealing however they were both bland, nearly tasteless. One was the oat milk flavor the other mint. I would skip that.

One of the coolest stores in Outer Banks! They have this cool dessert section and then if you go inside, nice vintage and antique with a modern twist shop! The details in this store are so cool and they have a lot to offer! I went with my family and got a bunch of stuff - tea kettles, candles, clothes, stickers, cards, jewelry, etc! My husband won't stop talking about how yummy his açaí bowl was and when I took him the first time he just wanted to continue coming back for more! I had this milkshake - it was like a mocha coffee pretzel shake! I highly recommend trying this place out and coming for shopping too! Every time I come to OBx I'm coming here!

A real treat - they are good for those with food allergies and kind. Shakes are delicious and freshly made with real fruit. A new favorite for us.

We stopped here after a day at the beach and really enjoyed the refreshing Acai bowls. I enjoyed it more than Playa bowls (if you know them), but my kids thought playa bowls was a little better. Cute shop inside too though I did not buy anything

Awesome stop off the main strip. Smoothies were great. Went as a big family & everyone drank something unique l & enjoyed it. The shop attached is awesome for the grown folks and the candy store inside was a hit with the kids.

my fave place in kitty hawk. i love their cold brew, smoothies with vegan hemp protein and açaí bowls. and they have the cutest retail side of the shop too. and i love that you can order inside and around back and sit outside too!

Mom's has the nicest employees ever! They were super welcoming to my friend and I when we were waiting for them to open. We both got acai bowls and they are the best. Can't wait to come back soon!

Cute shops and ice cream shop. Lots of very nice clothes to buy and the menu for the smoothies was top notch. We also purchased some salted caramels which we typically love but these seemed to have an aftertaste that reminded us of the incense smell in the shopping area. The ones we purchased were some of the last available for purchase. As there was no separation between the shopping areas the smell went to the food area and permeated the handmade chocolate. A shame but a lesson learned for us.

Such a cool shop! Loved the overall feel of this place! The açaí bowl was delicious! We got the Pa bowl.

Great ambiance and selection of hipster beach gear and small artists. My tween/teens loved it and could spend forever browsing this place. If you're over 25, this probably isn't your jam. But they do a great job of curating wares and creating a vibe. They also serve ice cream, which is just average, but it really contributes to the whole atmosphere of the place, which is very cool.

The Cake Shake was amazing! My kids loved their strawberry shake and vanilla shake as well! Cute building and patio area. My son said we should give this place 500 million stars!

Unfortunately when we stopped in at this location, they were in the process of moving, so ice cream was limited. They did have different assortments of candy/chocolate available and on sale. This location shared space with clothing a shoes and those items were on sale too. Really cute variety of clothing for both males and females.

The new location is spacious and full of lovely things to look at and buy. I have wanted one of their stickers for a long time because they're super cute so I got two. I also wanted to try their açaí bowls. I got a small Bro and she let sub out the berries for bananas. It was the perfect size and tasted delicious.

Waited 40 minutes for a açaí bowl. Unfortunately over priced and undersized. Lacked flavor and freshness. As much as I love açaí on a beach morning this place fell short and I would not recommend

v cool shop, all kinds of stuff. no it ain't cheap cheap, but it don't need to be they have quality items, some very well kept thrifted pieces, as well as name brand items such as herschel, nike etc. I really appreciate how clean and collected this entire shop is, it's curated in a way that doesn't overwhelm you, makes it easy to browse through all the neat stuff they got. Also plenty of sweets and treats, candy, novelties, VEGAN ice cream sandwiches, the list goes on. Give this lil shop a visit, u won't regret

An ice cream and açaí bowl shop with a motherly touch! The staff were very friendly and super comforting. We were recently on vacation and locked our keys (AND OUR PHONES) in the car by accident. Even though it was close to closing time within the height of tourist season, these lovely ladies and guys went out of their way to help us and make sure we were well taken care of. Very impressed with the level of empathy they had. If we were ever to be stranded again, we are glad it was at Moms with the tastiest milkshakes and ice cream cones in hand. Thank you Mom's Sweet Shop!

It took about 30 mins for our bowls to come out. I'm not sure how long it takes so I'll always give places the benefit of the doubt. We weren't told how long it took so it was a little frustrating. We waited that long outside expecting it to be fast. We got our bowls and went home and when we opened them they weren't even half full. I don't recommend for the amount you get for the price.

I come down once a year and this is a must go to! We love coming here and getting an acai bowl and milkshake. Fresh ingredients so delicious. We enjoy talking to the owner, getting a delicious treat and shopping.

Incredibly cute place. The Betty bowl was delicious - fruit was very fresh. Went back another day for ice cream and was equally as good. Everything is made to order so it takes a few minutes but worth the wait. The shop inside is fun and full of unique things and sweets. Highly recommend!

Such a cute place! The environment is so welcoming and chill! The owners are some of the coolest people I've ever met. I got a Ruby Jean smoothie and it was honestly one of the best I've ever had! If you're ever in the area you MUST stop by!

Very welcoming, very unique store, lots of different options to shop from, many records for sale as well. The sweet shop was very back in time, staff very respectful and nice and welcoming. Acai bowls are a must!

I was recommended to go here from the woman who owns House of Hemp (another cool shop to check out! We went for shirts and stickers more so than hemp products) and it was such a great find!! We have been coming to obx for years and had no clue it was there. They had cool t-shirts, clothes, skateboards, and goods other than sweets. My favorite part about coming to obx is finding store with graphic t-shirts and Mom's definitely had a couple of cool ones. The staff was super sweet and helpful and they made sure we were enjoying the shop. Parking was small so if you own a larger vehicle it will be a challenge. We drove a Nissan rouge and it was difficult to get out once we got in. Other than that I would totally go back!

Great find on my vacation! Chose this place because they have açaí bowls. The açaí bowls were awesome! Moms has a little bit of everything including clothes,candles, smoothies etc. I would recommend anyone coming on vacation looking for a cool little açaí spot!

Get the purple rain smoothie! So so so good!!! Everyone here is always nice and there is always something fun for everyone. My fiancé loves their sunglasses supplier and a great supply of fun mementos. Cool vintage T-shirt selection too! Oh, and wonderful music selection is always playing!

This place was very cute and the prices weren't bad. I had the Ma Bowl large for $10 and it was delicious with fresh fruit on top. Their smoothies and milkshake was also good and fairly priced compared to other places nearby. Everyone wore a mask in line and distanced.

A must stop when in KillDevilHills/OBX! We loved the açaí bowls, smoothies, and candy! (Our 2 little kids especially loved this place!) Plus the whole vibe was real cool, chill, and fun. The workers were extremely kind and we loved browsing the clothes, records, and cards. If you're looking for a healthy food option and/or wanna get some great local treats--this is your spot!!!

The bowls we got took longer to get than expected to get and came missing some toppings. However they were willing to put the added things on top with no hesitation. I don't recommend going if there are more than three customers because with it being made fresh it does take over 30 minutes.

I found them through yelp as I was looking for dessert...I ended up getting a cookies and cream shake and my boyfriend got a chocolate peanut butter shake, both were amazing! There's a wide selection of shakes and smoothies. Stop by and give them a try!

We were at the restaurant next door and I noticed they had coffee at Mom's Sweet Shop. I loved the atmosphere in the store. The coffee was good. We also got chocolate truffles, delicious. The workers were super nice and whoever the DJ was, definitely had a nice selection. I'm going back to get some shirts before I leave. And yeah they have some clothing on the other side. It's a really cool place.

The workers were so friendly and welcoming, and their cold brew coffee is delicious. Acai Bowls are good, but not great. There was definitely something missing from the base, as it was a bit too watery. Other than that, it was pretty good.

The staff is really friendly and this is my favorite place to get a healthy dairy free smoothie that isn't loaded with sugar syrups, yogurt and sugar drenched fruit...this isn't your normal smoothie or sweet shop, they have a good selection of both! My favorite smoothies are the Mango Unchained (SO refreshing in the summer) and The Cure (green smoothie with spinach, ginger and citrus fruits, it's super good!) but I've had them all and they're all excellent! Oh yeah, the purple rain is really good too! I like that Moms has organic superfoods, plant based proteins & supplements available to add in also. When I feel like a sweet treat instead of a healthy one I'll sometimes get one of their chocolate chip cookies, they're so good and hard to resist, especially if they've just finished baking them haha! The rest of my family likes the milkshakes, and I may or may not have tried all of those too! The Moore Shore mudslide is a family fave (coffee & cookies in it with a salty pretzel rod on top!) and the Bisco Frisco milkshake is a game changer. Definitely check these guys out!
