Mona's Super Noodle

Mona’s is a great go-to in Hampden whenever you have to decide on a place that several people will enjoy. The green curry is my personal favorite, but everything on the menu is delicious! Service is great, there is sometimes a wait time, but not too bad. Not the best place for a bigger group just because of size, but it’s great for up to about five.

I stopped by this spot for lunch on a Saturday and it was pretty quiet. The fresh summer rolls with shrimp were a highlight - I loved that they included mint, which isn't always the case at other pho restaurants. The rolls were above average, and the dipping sauce was good, even if it wasn't the peanut sauce I'm used to. The veggie pho was good too. The spring rolls were a bit overdone. One thing that dragged down the experience was the service - our server was polite but not super attentive, and I had to ask for water refills a few times. They also skimped on the ice in the water. Still, if I'm ever in the area again, I'd consider giving it another shot.

Meh, definitely an okay meal but I feel like this place has fallen off unfortunately. I think they’re using frozen veggies and the seasoning/spices was definitely not as good as it once was. Positive notes: the waitstaff and backroom w/ the bar are nice. Good gluten-free and vegetarian options (note: the pho can be made GF). Food comes quick and prices are decent and you get generous portions.

I love the fried rice there. Calm vibe, good food, and the staff is super cool. There’s also a bunch of cool places to go around there too, overall would recommend

This place is awesome. We tried Pho vegetable and Pineapple Rice and we liked it pretty much 😋. For dessert we ordered Mango sticky Rice which turned out amazing and apart from these they have lots of options for drinks and wine. Must visit with your family and friends. Do try their Pineapple Rice 🍚 4.5/5.

Delicious fried chicken. The sticky rice was a little hard but once you get the sauce it's great. Also, I initially ordered a Thai ice tea without ice and they brought me one with ice. But then gave me.one without ice and didn't charge me for the first one. Hence the $10 tip on a $21 meal. Love the service.

We ordered a number of dishes cause we wanted to try them all. The pho was really good, the curry was a little underwhelming--a little to watery for my taste, the pad thai was good as well. The Thai iced tea was unexpectedly good. Overall a yummy experience. 🙂

This place clearly does a splendid job in providing quality ab initio food from Thailand, Laos, and other representative dishes. I ordered the Larb salad, and the Tom Kah soup with seafood at a thai level of spicy. I must applaud the chefs behind the scenes making such wonderful dishes which truly fed my soul. I found myself pleased at the end of the meal, rubbing my now plump and happy tummy. I've been eating both of these dishes for the past 18 years, and so far I think this establishment does both dishes the best, the broth was clearly prepared in house, the seafood bits were carefully cooked and presented in a top level fashion, and the salad was next level in spice. It was nearly perfect, I suppose my only criticism, which it isn't, is that I wish it was traditional cabbage instead of romaine lettuce. I trust the cooks in the back - Laab salad is the national dish of Laos, which is a minced meat salad with either romaine or cabbage. I dug into this dish with full fingers and all, per tradition. Reference the photos, check the place out, its perfectly situated with in a nook of Baltimore which definitely provides a light to this city. There is a very real raw culture or people here. Reading some of the one star reviews, makes me believe that there was one cook which either lacks the true talent this place offers, or they simply did not care those days. In either case, I hope that they are addressed it would be a shame for one cook to bring such a poor light to such fabulous authentic cuisine. 5 stars all around, service, atmosphere, food. Thank you kindly, for not only feed my tummy soul, but also being a ray of light in a tough city. I will be back to shop the street for antiques, and to enjoy some good food. ^^// <3

My husband and I have been enjoying the food at Mona's for years. Everything is absolutely exceptional -- I've truly never had a bad meal there. My favorites are the pho and the bahn mi, but their salads and appetizers are fantastic as well. The laotian chicken box also looks incredible, although I've never had it. The food is so good that I've walked into the restaurant not even hungry and I've ended up ordering a full meal because it smells so amazing. We love Mona's so much that we actually had our rehearsal dinner at the bar that's attached. We worked with Mona and Dylan on the setup and logistics. Our guests had a great time, everyone loved the food and drinks, and the pricing was very reasonable. Thank you for everything, Mona's! We will be back soon.

I've never had Laos pho before but this was so delicious! I'm Vietnamese and have been craving a good bowl of pho, but in Baltimore I've found it all to be just ok - but this place definitely hits the spot. It's a little more beef flavored with hints of garlic which makes it so yummy. The beef is tender and there was a good portion of noodles too. The papaya salad was pretty mild at its highest spice level but was still good. It had great acidity, spice and unami in each bite. I can't wait to come back and try different things on the menu!

First time at Mona's and I was not disappointed! I was in the mood for pho--my newest obsession. Mona's is a cute and cozy vibe. Our waiter was super friendly. I never had Thai iced tea before and she gave me a sample before I committed to a full cup. It was pretty tasty. I'll definitely be back again. :)

This place is absolute trash. The only decent things we ordered were the shrimp summer roles and papaya salad, but those are hard to mess up. I got the pad Thai with chicken. It was mainly noodles, chicken that tasted reheated and 6 onions. Nothing. Else. I got spice level 1 because our waitress said the cook was heavy handed and I tasted no spiciness at all. My husband got the drunken noodles with beef. It was basically a pile of mush with a few chunks of beef. He got spice level 2. Still tasted no spice at all. All that said, the waitstaff is working super hard and they are nice, but wow. I do not understand how this place is so busy. It's not good. Sorry. Not sorry.

Love this cute spot in Hampden! The food is seriously so so good, and the servers are friendly and attentive. I got the drunken noodles at a spice level 2- if you are sensitive to spice, do not go any higher than this! My boyfriend got the teriyaki chicken which he loved. This is a must visit spot in Baltimore!

Fantastic place and can't wait to go back. Food is delicious, but service is more informal; don't expect to be waited on hand and foot. Loved the Thai iced tea and appreciated that there is a dairy-free option. I got the Mona Chicken Box which was a ton of chicken for $15. Was craving mango sticky rice and was not disappointed.

My favorite pho restaurant. Customer service is amazing here. I love their brisket. It's always very fresh and flavorful. The broth is amazing. The cocoa shrimp is tasty and I always make sure I order it. And I always have to save room for dessert because how can you not have the mango sticky rice?

Ok so I've been eyeing this place for quite some time now and I finally had a chance to check it out tonight! It was a solo date type of night as I was really craving some good noodles and it has literally been the longest week!!! I was greeted warmly and sat immediately upon arrival at one of the high top tables. The young lady at the front was super sweet and had cute little star stickers on her face. My food was yummy! I enjoyed the shrimp summer rolls, the Thai tea less dairy, and the shrimp pad tai! Portion was great and I left feeling satisfied in both craving and fullness! Plenty of street parking along 41st and meters were going until 10/10:30 ish so just an FYI on that! This place also has outdoor seating and is much bigger inside than it appears to be from outside! I'll be back for the drunken noodles and the pho!

Mona's is a charming restaurant I've walked by in Hampden a million times, but didn't visit until last Friday. My friends and I bypassed the main dining area (which looked inviting) and settled in the annexed bar. I loved it in the bar area, it was a vibe and the music was a mix of chill hip hop and old school r&b. I ordered flat noodles and tofu for my main and a tofu appetizer. The appetizer was just more tofu like what was in my entree so I don't recommend getting both together, lol. The food was well prepared and fairly spicy. Service was great and checking out was a breeze. Will definitely return!

The food here is amazing. Truly, all of it. I eat here a few times a month and I've never had a bad meal. This place has cracked the code for sauces, which make everything about 100 times better than I expect it to be. The flavors of basically anything on the menu are gonna be robust - spicy and sour, salty and sweet, etc. Nothing here is one note. Their bahn mi are delightful, with just the right kind of slightly crispy, majorly fluffy bread. I can't say enough good things about their soup options. In addition to a whole pho menu, they also have tom yum and tom kha, which I'm pretty sure have cured me of a cold or two in the past. The summer rolls are also excellent, as is the papaya salad. They are also very fast for pickup orders, usually 15 minutes or less, so if you need something in a hurry, they are a great option.

Got the green curry for take out on a cold rainy day. Pick up time was smooth and everything but the curry was a let down. The curry was watery, lacking flavor and complexity, and just over all unfulfilling for my Thai cravings. I was pretty disappointed. Sad that all the best Thai places in Baltimore closed.

Came for a visit with some friends. The food was solid! I would definitely come again and try another dish if I'm in the area. Lots of different noodle options.

Overall great pho place that doesn't hurt the budget with a friendly atmosphere! The service was great, and the broth of both the Phos were quite flavorful!

Dislike tonight's service The Asian man seems to be a racist. His attitude was not good towards me. And tonight's food seemed to be not good as the common level.

After a gym visit with a buddy of mine we *needed* some lunch. He chose Mona's. It was a great choice. They have a sort of multi-pan-Asian menu with a nice variety of choices from various nations/cultures. I got the very simple Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken. It was simple but wonderful. Mona's is really easy to get to, on the corner of ... I don't know what streets; my map app just tells me where to go. But evidently in this part of town there are numerous restaurants and this is a charm among them. Our waitress was fantastic. She took our orders, took care of us, and was just great. We'll definitely be back!!

I ordered the drunken noodle with chicken for lunch today. The food was great. Food was perfectly seasoned with veggies and chicken. I wish there was more veggies chicken and noodles for 15 dollars but the food was delicious. The price was expensive for the portion but the food was made well. The service was quick. I called in my order 10 mins before I arrived and the food was already done. I was in and out. The ambiance was inviting. It is a casual sit down restaurant with a calm atmosphere. I would definitely come back.

Went to Mona's yesterday Food was good no complaints i guess noodles were no were near Al dente very over cooked but broth was amazing. I spent 100 bucks me and my boyfriend. We got three bottles soju we had a ball. My server was unattentive rude and very very STEREOTYPICAL. A black young couple she was trying to bill us before offer dessert any other drinks anythingg. I have a newborn a 3 month old I stepped out because it was my first time away from my baby she assumed I ran out on the bill . She said it to my boyfriend she was rude short never came to our table I still tipped her 10 percent when I never tip under 20. I am from Virginia Beach I was looking at home to purchase that day and stopped there because I love Vietnamese fusion. To the owner in a black community this is soooo sad, talk to that girl she was so out of pocket like that's so wrong Thank you

I've been hearing great things about Mona's for a while now. I ordered some curry and coconut shrimp for lunch one day and was pretty pleased. The curry was a generous portion size with lots of flavorful chicken and a nice combination of spices. It wasn't very spicy though so I wish it had a little more heat. The coconut shrimp were absolutely delicious. Super crunchy! I'd probably get the shrimp again but next time, I definitely need to order the pho. I know that's what they're known for and I think the pho will probably blow me away a lot more than the curry did.

I'm not angry, but I want to caution customers and alert Mona's, that the last two times I ordered delivery from them, they screwed up the order. The first time I ordered a Pho dish and they forgot to include the broth. The second time I ordered Tom-Kha soup with shrimp and they left out the shrimp. Is their food good? How would I know? Obviously, their quality assurance isn't working.

Spectacular! I've been to a lot of restaurants but this restaurant won me over upon first visit. It's cute, not a lot of seating indoors so either reserve or sit outside. The staff are super nice. They go above and beyond. The Bao Bao is made by an actual grandmother of one of the servers. You can tell it was made with love. The food is absolutely delicious. I'm at a loss for words. Just try this place and decide for yourself.

Took a stroll down The Avenue for fresh air & exercise and got hungry. Omg stumbled in this spot expecting a regular noodle spot and it is sooo much more! The music, the bar, the staff, the owner, the vibe, the decore- all of it just felt good. Had the Beef Pho, Pad Veggie, Chicken Pad Thai, and spring rolls and every single dish was perfect! Some of the best Ive had of each. Everything is so fresh! The sauces to the Pad dishes were pefect.

My first time trying Pho and it did not disappoint! Food, drinks and atmosphere were all very good.

Service has always been pleasant. The best dishes are the drunken noodles, curry and pineapple fried rice. They added more items to the menu, but I found the new items lackluster. The beef was fatty and stiff and the vegetables were unseasoned. The bao bun was okay but somewhat soggy on the edges. Mona's is a great place to go when you want something quick and you order the right items. I think the prices are a little high for what you get, but the servers are attentive and it's nice that you can sit outside.

Haven't tried a lot but the seafood pho and summer rolls are delicious. I have returned serval times for the summer rolls.

I'm a big fan of Pho.....this restaurant is actually Laotian similar to Vietnamese, and the Pho was better than average for sure. The broth was extra beefy with less herbal flavors than I'm used to, like star anise etc was missing. This is common though. All the different beef tidbits were tasty. The interior was charming, not a typical fluorescent lit Formica table VietPho strip mall joint. Service was fine. Note that they give a small piece of basil, but don't ask for a lot more unless $2 is ok with you!

Definitely do not recommend. I live in the neighborhood so I was really hoping to like this place, as Thai is one of my very favorite foods, but the dish just tasted plastic. I got take out so I can't really comment on the service or atmosphere of the restaurant, but I ordered on the spot and it only took about 10 minutes. Honestly, I've had better microwave dishes. I couldn't even eat much of it. It's currently sitting in my fridge and I'm probably going to just throw it out. So a big waste of 15$!

We were greeted at the front by Mona herself, who went right to the back to actually make our food after we ordered!! She did not disappoint. This doesn't taste like food from a Thai restaurant. Yelp recommended Mona's, and it did not disappoint.. Had the pleasure of meeting Mona and she was an absol darling.. We ordered crispy calamari, shrimp summer rolls, Pho 1 & Pho 6... Chileeee everything was fresh, succulent, and tasted amazing.. The Pho broth was so flavorful I couldn't stop eating.. Jasmine was our server, and not only was she ptofessional and attentive.. she was hilarious.. The restaurant is extremely clean and quaint. Ideal location in Hampden!! I absolutely will be back..

My first time at Mona's was amazing. The food was delicious everything was cooked to perfection. Our waitress was very kind and friendly. If you plan on ordering a lot of items I'd recommend asking for a bigger table, overall everything was perfect 10/10

Mona's is a cute little place right on the avenue in Hampden. It's a mix of Thai and Vietnamese with an emphasis on soups but with other staples like noodles and fried rice as well. I stopped by on a very cold day and the friendly staff recommended the pho (Vietnamese traditional beef noodle soup). It was very good, especially on a cold day. The portion was reasonable, not huge, but for $12 it was certainly fair. It comes with bean sprouts, lime and Jalapeño on the side and the tables have hoisin sauce and a couple of spicy chili oil options. Beware, these are VERY spicy. I like spice and have a decent tolerance for it but even a small spoonful brought my pho up from mild to scorching. I still liked it but if you are sensitive to spice I would stay away. The meet was good, a bit tough but not bad. The broth was the star though for sure. The interior of the place is cute and it looks out into the avenue. It wasn't crowded when I was there and everyone was attentive and welcoming. I look forward to going back to try more of their items.

The pho is amazing here! I recommend the meatball pho and doctor it up with tons of chili oil! The service is quick and the ambiance is comfortable!

I like Mona's! We've been a couple of times now, and I cannot resist their seafood pho with shrimp, calamari, fish balls, and mussels. (I've gotten it both times I've visited!) (My family has tried other dishes: drunken noodles, summer rolls, and Thai Red Curry, which they've enjoyed!) The service was great both times, and the restaurant itself is small, cozy, and charming. I'm sure I'll be back soon - that seafood pho is great on a cold day!

The tofu banh mi is the best I've had in a while! The tofu is well seasoned and the baguette was perfect! I'll definitely be getting this again!

Looking at the pictures and reading reviews, I was excited to try this place. I should preface this review by saying I am an avid Thai food lover, have been to Thailand, and eat it at least once a week. I love trying new places and really try not to be too picky. However, I would be remiss not to leave an honest review. I ordered delivery. Tom Kha (coconut milk soup with chicken), Beef Drunken Noodle, and Green Curry Chicken. The only word that came to mind with every bite was BLAND. I think they use water as a base for every dish, then add some coconut mild & seasonings. I have never seen paler drunken noodles anywhere, and the green curry - which barley had a curry taste at all - had a very odd, unnatural bright green color. To say I'm disappointed after spending a good chunk of change on this delivery, is a huge understatement. I couldn't even eat the "curry", and barely choked down some of the "drunken noodles" and soup.

The pho here is amazing! Every time I order it I realize it is exactly what I needed. So fresh and satisfying. Also a good gluten free option since it has rice noodles!

Sat outside and the service was quite slow and inattentive. The summer rolls were okay but not amazing. I ordered eggplant with beef and it was bland and eggplant was mushy and burnt at the same time. Also sampled the drunken noodles and these were also bland. With other Asian options in the city I would not return.

This place is so so good! I highly recommend the noodles here alongside the curry sides they are delicious! The food does take a while to come out which is the one downside, however I personally do not mind that! A great place to go on a date or with a group of friends! Also great takeout option!

KAZ is awesome! I was visiting from NYC this weekend and Kaz was our support person each and every time. First off Kaz knew everything about my friends who live here in Baltimore. She knew their favorite drink, their favorite dish and where they like to sit. Kaz made a very sentimental important visit worth while. We came to visit my friend because of a death, her sweet dog. It was extremely painful and hard to be normal knowing she lost someone so important to her. But from the moment we were greeted by Kaz we all were all smiles. Thank you so much for being a beacon of light, and for always recognizing that every day is different even if the customer is the same. Your spazz and smile and level of service was amazing. I usually like to write about the establishment but this one is for you. Also their chicken box is the best thing ever!!!!!

The food was decent, but not exactly what was expected. We ordered: Pad Thai- Had more of a sweet and sour taste opposed to the coconutty flavor I'm used to. Pad see ew- Was pretty good, would order it again. Thai chow mein was tasty, lots of sauce and not too spicy. The dining area is very tight for a party of more than 4 (we were 6 deep). The service was prompt and friendly.

Sorry, I got neither the "noodle" nor the popular Chicken (big thigh) Box. Next time, I will (just wasn't that hungry). Any of the 0 people that follow me know that the previous (sushi) joint here (Nori) was one of the worst known to humankind in food, atmosphere (well, they did have a jazz night) and cleanliness. But Mona's is great! Great food and great service. A couple times the female server came back to make sure I had what I needed or if I needed a spicier entree or protein. I ate outside and really enjoyed the sweet and sour Tom-kha coconut-lemongrass-lime juice and so on soup--really liked the pungent bite as the liquid love went down my throat. Wow! The Basil Eggplant and veggies with brown rice entree with 3-scale spiciness was also great. I highly recommend this new-to-the neighborhood Laotian-style take on noodles that includes lots of extra sides and proteins in addition to pho. Go pho! Come here!

I got the drunken noodles. The food was great. It didn't take too long to come out. We got a bottle of wine and it was very good.

A fantastic pho and Asian fusion restaurant! Went here on a whim once as this was the first restaurant we saw after an evening out in Hampden. Since then I've been a regular both in online orders and going into the store. The store itself has a very nice ambiance with beautiful lighting, which makes it a great spot to stop by. I ordered the Seafood pho, which was delicious and had lots of different seafood in it. I have tried both the chicken and vegetable broths as well, and both were tasty and great for a cold day. When eating at the restaurant, chili oil is provided so that you can adjust the spice level accordingly--the chili oil packs a punch! I also regularly purchase their fried tofu appetizer, which is delicious and fresh although it feels slightly overpriced for the quantity. The firecracker shrimp was also super delicious but definitely felt overpriced enough that I can't justify the purchase. I would also say that the Thai tea (a personal favorite of mine at most restaurants) has tasted a little watered down every time I've ordered it, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend that. However, my friend ordered the drunken noodles at spicy level 1, which was the first time she had tried the dish, and she has since been obsessed, so definitely would recommend this restaurant to anyone that is new to Thai/Laotian food. The people there have also always been extremely kind and polite--a wonderful experience all around and I will definitely be stopping in again!

The food here is always top notch. Obviously the Pho is great but the Calamari and Larb are where it is at. When out of towners come to visit it's usually in my top of the list of must dos. They also do delivery/take out, so there's really no excuse for you not to have Monas!
