The building, of course is exceptional.|However, there is definitely a common thread, with their unfriendly staff. At checkin, after walking the Camino, he doesn’t even say hi, throws us the stamp, and does not tell us any info about breakfast, our bags, dinner etc.|There is no food there until 8 pm. |The cafe is frozen pizza and old sandwiches.|The room was lovely, but the shower was moldy, which I always find disgusting.|The breakfast was good, but served very late, 8am, as pilgrims like an earlier breakfast for an early start.|It could be so much better, if their manager would read these reviews. |How hard is it to have friendly staff, and staff that speak a little English?

Beautiful place, located away from the more popular places along the route which makes it ideal for a retreat. The restaurant was wonderful, the food delicious.

After days walking the Camino, i was delighted to find this historic and beautiful setting, unfortunately what I will remember most is the rude and poorly trained staff. ||The surly barman who clearly doesn't like his job. The breakfast ladies, who in addition to being inattentive and abrupt, took the opportunity to be rude and disrespectful because I misunderstood their direction. When I returned to explain the misunderstanding they doubled down, refusing to budge. Unnecessarily rude.||Reception apologized for their behavior but could not produce a manager because he said that "no one answered the phone" because "in Spain managers don't work on Sundays". ||Exception: dinner was exceptional and wait staff very nice.

Room was very nice. Bath was very much appreciated after a couple weeks on the Camino. Building and architecture is amazing. Nice little bar. But it lacked atmosphere. Staff need more training. Location is on the Camino but a little out of town

It was all on its own miles away from humanity, but totally stunning, would recommend it to anyone.

Very impressive place with big historical background. It was built on the way of peregrine’s route from France to Santiago, and was important for religious and social communication “lines” for many centuries. Maybe it is decorated in a modest way (as it was a monastery), but you feel historical touch in each wall, corridors or space.

The front desk service was abrupt and unwelcoming. The bartenders were beyond rude. We were trying our best to be friendly and respectful, and were treated with such a lack of common decency. The place is beautiful and intriguing, so still happy we stayed, but there is no excuse for that kind of behavior.

Unfortunately cannot give no stars! Booked a night at this place during a motorbike trip. Walked in and immediately could tell we weren't the 'type' they wanted to stay. Receptionists (man and woman) had faces like they were sucking gooseberries. Asked about secure parking for the two motorbikes and they said we could leave them on the unsecured car park. Went outside and noticed push bikes had secure parking around the side, but they wouldnt let us use that. Asked for a refund so we could find somewhere else. They refused. Owner/ manager then appeared, said something in Spanish and waved his hand. With that the woman asked for my key back. I concur with other reviews, staff are rude, unhelpful and full of self importance. Now trying to claim money we paid for rooms. Avoid this place as there are wonderful places all over Spain where the staff go out of their way to help. *UPDATE* You can see the owner has responded in a manner which says more about him than me. I was outside by the time the parking discussion took place and didn't yell at anyone or say anything derogatory. The receptionist marched out from the hotel to where I was sitting on some steps outside and demanded the key back. I would add that through Booking.com they refunded my money after investigating so clearly the owners comments are inaccurate.

Yelp
I had a very bad experience at hotel san zoilo. I was a pilgrim on the camino de Santiago and spend a night there. I was using a luggage service that moves my luggage from town to town as I walk. When the service came to pick up my luggage (I had already left and started walking) they refused to let my luggage go because there was a problem with the card I had used on booking. com to make the booking they said! Like that's a reason to "steal" the luggage! I walked for 6 hours and I arrive at another tiny town and my luggage is not here. I call them, I gave them a new card for the bill and then they refused to send the luggage at their own expense to my current location! This is a multi-million dollar company!. They got paid and they are refusing to provide even basic customer service. They definitely do not deserve to have a 4 star rating!. And upon further investigation the hotel room charge had gone through only the $12 breakfast did not go through!! You keep someone's luggage for $12? which i paid when they brought it to my attention A lot of the staff does not speak English either. My refrigerator in the room was not working and they charge me 2.50 for a piece of bread that I didn't Even ask for during dinner and which was starting to go stale

Yelp
We found this hotel accidentally on our way to San Sebastian. It took my breath away so much that I insisted that we stay there overnight on our way back down. The structure was the monastery built in 1100s and is impeccable. It is an amazing hotel now, and feels like you are in another time and another world.

Yelp
This place is beautiful and the front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend to stay here, but not to eat. Had problems with waitstaff in restaurant/bar. Would be better to walk in town then deal with them. They didn't seem real interested in waiting on anyone unless you went up to the bar to get their attention. They did like to take cigarette breaks while people waited for them.
