Where to Stay in Budapest (Updated 2025)

"Housed in a 300-year-old abbey, this modern four-star hotel impressed me with original exposed brick in many rooms, large comfy beds, good shower pressure, desks and electric kettles, and a delicious breakfast featuring fresh pastries, fruit, and yoghurt near Fisherman’s Bastion." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Budapest in 2025

"Located in a 300-year-old abbey, this four-star hotel features original exposed brick and stone walls in many rooms and in the restaurant area, which looks really cool; the décor is simple and minimalist with a relaxing light palette. I found the breakfast delicious—fresh pastries, fruit, yogurt, eggs, veggies, and lots of fresh bread—and the beds are comfy in bright, airy rooms with lots of natural light. Bathrooms are spacious with towel warmers and showers with good water pressure; rooms also include desks, electric kettles, and flatscreen TVs. Overall, it’s an elegant, conveniently located property near key sights that won’t break the bank." - Matthew Kepnes

First time staying in a 3 star hotel but we only wanted a quick 3 night get away and knew we would be out all day so wasn’t too fussed about the hotel. ||A friend booked this hotel for us and we were pleasantly surprised. It’s in a good location for the castle but if you have mobility issues then this hotel is not for you. We were having to do a steep climb to get to Fisherman’s Bastion so if I were to stay in Budapest again I would pick the Hilton that is literally on the square. ||The hotel was ok. Towels were small and the hairdryer was all but useless but I’m not sure if that’s standard for a 3 star hotel. The breakfast also wasn’t great. However. It was simple and doable just for a few days. Any longer it would be an issue. ||There were people painting in the corridor which is fine it’s nice that it was getting some fresh paint but the carpet in the room was stained. I think hotels should have hard flooring if they can’t keep the carpet clean as it just looks cheaper.

We were delighted with the location of this unique hotel, very walkable to the sites on the Buda side of the Danube. Be aware, however, about a few unfortunate things. There is a set of 5 stone steps at the entrance and no one to carry up the luggage. We were disappointed with the condition and amenities in our room: carpet stained with urine and other spots with the explanation that the carpet showed stains but was clean; thin, stained towels; very flat pillows; the red decorative throw across the end of the bed was thrown in a pile on the floor by housekeeping and left there; no shampoo, only body wash and conditioner. When asking for shampoo, we were provided with more body wash.

Awesome location right across the river, good restaurants in and around the hotel, great staff, superb breakfast, cozy rooms, hot and good pressure showers and a comfortable bed.. well you actually can't ask for anything more.. but yes there is indeed something more! Small and not crowded and you feel kind of homely...

A super hotel, nice people, beautiful decor and very clean. We had a standard room for 2 persons. The room was spacious, very clean, super cozy and everything wat you need was present. We couldn’t wish for anything more. All the personnel was friendly and very eager to help with any questions we had. Breakfast was superb, with a lot of choice and the breakfast room was wonderful. |Location wise for us it was perfect, everything was at a walking distance. And if you don’t feel like walking Budapest’s public transportation is on point! We stayed for 4 days but I wouldn’t have minded to stay longer.

This is a beautiful hotel in a great position at the foot of the Castle district and a few metres from the Danube. It is in a quiet location, a little away from the hustle and bustle of the Pest part of the City, but convenient enough to reach everywhere on foot. However, if you are tired of walking, the very efficient trams and metro are only a short walk away and totally free for us over 65s! Our room was comfortable and spacious. The breakfast, taken in a lovely covered courtyard, was absolutely superb, with a wide range of hot and cold food, bread, pastries etc along with a few Hungarian specialities. All of the staff were excellent, friendly, efficient and helpful. Overall, we had a brilliant 3 night stay and the hotel is highly recommended.

We stayed for 2 nights in room 002. No problem with any street noise. Very friendly welcome and room very clean and comfortable. Great breakfast at 15E per head, served in annex. Bar had a good vibe where we used our welcome drink vouchers. Great location on Buda side close to river and for exploring Buda castle (15 min walk). We didn’t find a safe in the room and there wasn’t much storage for clothing. However, neither would stop us from returning to this lovely hotel.

Great location 4 star hotel with reasonable prices. Staff is very friendly, Hotel is nice, feels new. Rooms are somewhat small. However, both of their restaurants are absolutely perfect, and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast was great as well!

What an absolute gem of a hotel ! Wonderful location, lovely big room, friendly staff. Historic- attached to a still working monastery . Rooms are part of the building- not new additions. Beautiful rooms. Lovely bathroom, clean. Comfy bed. Walked everywhere from here. Breakfast was ok, hot and cold options but not the best I’ve had. Not a deal breaker for me - Would not hesitate to stay again.
