This hotel was amazing. The rooms were luxury, the reception staff exceptionally friendly, the view beautiful and the privacy unmatched. There is no restaurant and every food ordered comes straight to your room which means everyone is in their own private spaces. If you do feel like a restaurant there is the village taverna about a 2 min walk up the hill which I can also recommend!

Beautiful property with exceptional service. The property is very intimate with only 16 rooms. The staff was fantastic and responsive. Breakfast was delivered each morning and was a delicious way to fuel up for our hikes. A very romantic place just a short drive from Sougia.

An absolute gem in a tranquil setting, perfect place for a getaway. Convenient location for daytrips, hikes and exploring Sougia! Super clean and well equipped beautiful rooms! Comfy big bed with the softest bedding. Delicious food and room service really worth trying for lazy nights in, as it did not disappoint. Unbelievable reception and customer service 5/5, with staff so attentive it makes it hard to leave. Would highly recommend!

Amazing experience, would love to do it again. |I recommend it, honestly, the place is gorgeous, the people are lovely and very helpful! The view is beautiful and breakfasts are VERY good (I recommend the Cretan breakfast). ||Sougia, the nearest village, is very cute. Not crowded of tourists.

Unfortunately, I can’t align with the 5* reviews here. The room was beautiful and the property itself is architecturally interesting, with a peaceful and stunning view. The staff were well-mannered, kind, and helpful throughout our stay, providing nice recommendations about the area and things to do. However, there are some design flaws that really impacted our experience. There are no window shutters and the curtains aren’t blackout, so expect a lot of light early in the morning. The sound insulation is poor. We were woken up at 7:45am by our enthusiastic German neighbors having a loud conversation in their pool. Maybe Germans enjoy waking up at 7am on vacation, but we’d have liked to sleep in until 9am at least, but unfortunately that wasn’t possible. The bathroom is really small and has poor ventilation, and the shower is too tight and poorly designed. Water goes everywhere, leaving the whole space wet and impractical. The breakfast, although à la carte and seemingly luxurious, fell short in execution, with bread and baked goods tasting stale. It was quite subpar for Cretan food. We also asked for a late checkout past their policy of 11am (we asked for 12pm), but it wasn’t possible as they were expecting new guests, which ended up being fine since we were already up super early thanks to our beloved neighbors! Overall, it’s a beautiful place with lovely staff and views, but the lack of privacy, impractical features, and small details add up. For the price, the quality just isn’t quite there.

We had a very warm, welcoming and relaxing stay of 8 nights at the Monastery Estate Hotel. On arrival, we received a free upgrade for our room since it was still early in the season and it was our pre-wedding vacation. The manager and staff of the hotel did the best job in giving great recommendations for daytrips/ activities and were also very helpful e.g. with arranging taxi transfers or other bookings. Overall, one can feel nonstop, that the wellbeing of the guest is the biggest concern of everyone on site. There is a very cute small spa area with sauna which can be booked on hourly basis daily to have some private spa time. Most of the rooms have their private pool in front of the terrace. Rooms are very modern, stylish and minimalistic equipped, we liked this a lot. The hotel serves breakfast, food and dinner which is very delicious and is brought to your room directly for dining on the terrace. Thanks for the great week and hospitality! L&A

To say that our stay here was excellent is truly an understatement. Crete was more than I could have ever dreamed of, and this hotel played a huge part in that. The drive to the hotel is definitely not the easiest drive, but it is so worth it (very windy road up and down the mountain, it is all paved and there are guardrails but very little light at night). Being in the mountains and away from the city was so quiet and relaxing and the town in the area felt so authentic and non-touristy, it was exactly what we were looking for! The staff were so friendly and were always attentive and making sure we had everything we needed. The staff recommended two restaurants (they actually recommended more than two, but we were only able to try 2 of them), and they were the two best meals we had during our 2-week stay in Greece. The hotel was very clean, and the room was excellent, we were actually offered an upgrade upon arrival. The pool was so refreshing, and the bed was extremely comfortable. As for being walkable/drivable, there is a restaurant in walking distance that was amazing. And the town of Sougia is just a short 5–10-minute drive down the road and is 100% worth the short drive. Chania is about 1.5-2-hour drive, and because it is through the mountain it will take every bit of that time and be on a lookout for goats. And Heraklion is about 3.5-4-hour drive. Thank you so much for our stay here it was amazing! We look forward to returning to Crete and staying here again.

What a wonderful experience. I stayed here twice over a one-week period. I loved the first night so much I went back. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and go above and beyond to make your stay exceptional. Returning there is like going home. I’ll treasure the time I spent in this little slice of paradise. Thank you ☺️
