We walked from the top station of the Jungfraujoch (3454 m) to another 200 m higher, about 1,5 km distance to the Mönchsjochhutte. It was definitely worth the effort! The view was fantastic all the time. Although it was a little harder than usual to walk uphill in the thin air, a glass of good white wine at an altitude of 3,650 m in a mountain hut restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere rewarded us on the spot. Next time we will stay in the hutte for 2 nights and climb the Mönch, maybe even the Jungfrau. Considering the location the prices are most reasonable here, also for an over night stay.

Worth the trek from the main area. Maybe about an hour or so trek. Pretty good food for such a remote place. Their pie was phenomenal. Went during summer; can't imagine the weather at this place during the winter!! Once in a lifetime hut on top of the glacier

Awesome place to climb some really iconic mountains. The staff is great and they prepare good dinners and meals. Facilities are quite comfy for a mountain hut and the access to the place is easy enough for tourists interested in the amazing landscapes and the coziness of the place.

Very friendly and patient with us as tourist. We made the mistake of wearing our hiking boots in the lounge. We was politely asked to change into the provided shoes. I really enjoyed their beer. It was very nice. Worth the hike, though it was brutal haha

Google
-easy to book - very reasonable price with the accomodation and the food prepared for breakfast and dinner -people here are very kind, even to asian people. They will concern for tourists with the hiking plan and also available for local guide (if plan earlier) -easy to see sunrise too. -definitely a good place that is really good to explore and consume food/drinks. -very much thank you for the final free riding (with big snow day) that help us transport to the mountain entrance.

Open from mid-March to mid-October, depending on snow conditions. Access primarily via hiking from Jungfraujoch: 1. Start from Jungfraujoch - Access Point: The hike to Mönchsjochhütte starts from Jungfraujoch, which is accessible by the Jungfrau Railway from Interlaken via Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen. - Scenic Train Ride: The train journey itself is a spectacular experience, passing through tunnels in the Eiger and offering stunning views of the alpine landscape. 2. Hiking Route - Difficulty: Moderate - Distance: 4.5 km one way - Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours The trail from Jungfraujoch to Mönchsjochhütte is well-marked and crosses glacial terrain. It requires a good level of fitness and acclimatization to the altitude. Hikers are treated to incredible views of the Aletsch Glacier and surrounding peaks. At the Hut - Accommodation: Mönchsjochhütte offers dormitory-style accommodation with basic facilities. It is advisable to book in advance, especially during the peak season. - Meals: The hut provides meals, including breakfast and dinner, with simple but hearty alpine fare. Packed lunches are also available for hikers. - Facilities: The hut is equipped with a dining area, toilets, and washrooms. Given its high altitude and remote location, facilities are basic but sufficient for an alpine experience. - Electricity and Connectivity: There is limited electricity, and mobile phone reception can be sporadic. It’s a great opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Great reward after a hike. Yummy food. Friendly staff. Insane views. However, if you want to climb to the hut, I highly recommend to wear a proper hiking boots, otherwise it might be a bit dangerous.

Yelp
After the challenging hike up to Monchsjochhutte, we were pleasantly surprised with how good the food was! My husband got a hot chocolate and the vegetable soup with sausage. The sausage was SO good. Prices are in line with what you would expect in Switzerland. But after that hike, the food hit the spot.

Yelp
If you are reading this review, you have probably already made the journey to Jungfraujoch (or are planning on making it), which means you have spent quite a bit of money getting there. While doing your research, you have probably realized that all of the food options in the main area (the part by the train station with the viewing platform and gift shops) are also very expensive. While there are nice views from many of the restaurants in that main area, none of them are really all that good, they are very crowded, and all of them will set you back quite a few Francs. However, if you are up for a little hike through the snow, you can enjoy a peaceful alpine cabin with even better views than the main Jungfraujoch building, more authentic and tasty food options, and better prices. Like most worthwhile goals, getting to the "Mönchsjochhütte" is not an easy task, but the reward is great. After all, you are hiking to the highest occupied hut in Switzerland at 12,000 feet (or 3,658 meters) above sea level! Yes, once you leave the main building, you will be trudging through the snow up hill for over an hour (they say the hike is 45 minutes, but unless you are acclimatized to the altitude and in amazing shape, you'll probably take longer than that...make sure to wear sunscreen too!). Along the way, you will be treated to amazing views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers, and the path is groomed daily to ensure the hike will be safe. Once you get to the hut, you'll find very few people, breathtaking views, and a truly authentic Swiss mountain dining experience (as well as bragging rights). I will mostly let the photos I took of my dining experience speak for themselves (they should be below). However, I will say that the coffee was really, really good, and the home-made potato and vegetable soup with pork sausage was super tasty and filling. The hut is heated, has comfy seating, and you will be able to charge your phone/camera. You can also stay overnight at the cabin in very rustic accommodations for less than 30 Francs per night...a total bargain! The trip back to the main building is much shorter: it's downhill the entire way, so you can probably make it in 30 minutes if you are in reasonable shape. After arriving back at the super touristy main area, you'll quickly realize that your hike to the Mönchsjochhütte and your lunch will be your fondest memories of your trip to the Jungfraujoch.
