Monk Barcelona

Atmosphere: 7/10 Located in El Born, Monk hides behind the façade of a small bodega in true speakeasy fashion. The interior blends neo-Gothic arches with funky lighting and lounge-like couches, creating an instagrammable but not overly deep setting. Plenty of bar seats are available. The backbar looks stylish yet lacks depth. Music was too loud on the night, which pulled away from the vibe. Drinks: 8/10 Recommendation: Eliasson’s Spritz Menu is simple but leans low quality in parts. The overall selection is solid, with flavors that land decent though not standout. Presentation is a plus—good garnish, creative glassware, proper ice, and coasters in place. Service: 8/10 Water was provided right away. Team was friendly, professional, and attentive throughout. Prices sit at an average Barcelona level, and no reservation is needed.

I love everything about this bar. The staff, nicest people ever. I’ve been having to travel for work around Europe now for 2 weeks. The staff here were some of the nicest people I have met in this trip. I had the Giorgio cocktail and it was perfection. Amazing presentation and perfect taste. I also had the tuna appetizer they offered and the flavor was awesome. I could have had 12 more. The bar itself is beautiful, clean and fun. This will now be a must stop location for all my future trips.

We went to several bars while in Barcelona, but we my fiancée and I agree this was our favorite!! We even went to some that are internationally ranked, but still agree- this is the best. The bartenders were amazing, the drinks innovative. The staff know the craft of hospitality and offer an amazing experience. The male bartender with the awesome mustache was SO fun and made some awesome recs for tasty snacks too!! We would absolutely love to come back here if we ever find ourselves in Barcelona again 🥰

We didn’t get any food but the drinks were really fun and the presentation was incredible. It’s nice that there is a laidback dining area and a more upbeat night club to choose from. Something for everyone! The bartending staff is very clearly passionate about what they do. Very fun to watch/interact.

As a bar owner, I know how hard this job is. Sitting at the bar and watching them work really shows the skill and dedication. I met Levis and tried several cocktails — outstanding quality. One of the best bars in Barcelona.

A very nice bar with a unique concept and great service! I went to Monk as a solo traveller and had a great time. The whole experience of entering the bar through the fake store was fun. Love the interior as well. There were several unique cocktails on the menu. The two I went for were different from anything I've ever tasted, but were delicious and made with high quality. The service was great as well, with all the bartenders and servers operating with full energy. It made it a great experience. They also would check up on me and my drink, confirming that it was up to standard. Overall I had a great experience at Monk, and will return when I come back to Barcelona. Also, be careful in their very confusing exit!

I had the best time here!!! Was traveling solo and Jenny made me feel more than welcome!! She is amazing and the rest of the staff are fantastic as well. Definitely recommend if you're traveling from United States!!

I love the concept of hidden bars, where you step into a supermarket and then through another door inside, you step into a bar. Monk is one of my favorite hidden bars in Barcelona, the vibes are so nice and the cocktails are so good 😍 The bar is divided into 2 rooms, one with louder music and dancing space and the other room is a little bit quieter and better for sitting and having a conversation. I was happy to try both areas!
