The Best Things to Do With Kids in Australia

"Visitors have the chance to see wild dolphins up close during scheduled feedings: the dolphins are fed three times a day between 7:45 a.m. and noon (the times are dictated by when the dolphins show up). They are given a snack of local fish, but not enough to discourage their natural foraging, and interactions are designed around the animals' freedom to come and go." - Alison Fox Alison Fox Alison Fox is a Travel + Leisure contributor. Wonderful dolphin encounters from a respectful distance. Reasonable entry fee to Conservation Park for a truly memorable experience. The walking trail is also stunning! Definitely worth doing the whole circuit if you can. It's not particularly long, and the contrast of red sand, white sand and turquoise waters is really special. So many wild critter tracks too! Walking back along the shoreline I saw turtles, osprey, and plenty of other birds.

Monkey Mia is an excellent resort that caters for all with plenty of cabins, camping spaces, caravan & RV spaces with power if you want it. Its got BBQs and a good sized kitchen dinning area, plenty of showers and toilets all cleaned regulary, and a nice pool. Food is great in the restauraunt and i found the staff to be very polite, helpfull and professional a credit to RAC.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the dolphin experience. The entrance fee is 15 AUD PER PAX and the park pass does NOT include this experience. Unlike in zoos where you get to see the poor dolphins trapped in an enclosed area, you get to see these pod of dolphins in their natural habitat and swimming in unison too. The dolphin experience only commences IF the dolphins CHOOSES to come through the yellow cones near the shore and do eyeballing, where they raise their head above water to signal they are open to interactions. It is lovely that Monkey Mia supports the wild dolphins’ freedom of choice. The guide was thorough in her explanation and apparently only the females are fed a small amount of food daily only if they want it. Males are not fed as this affects their hunting ability and they may get outcasted. The dolphins also respect each other’s feed and do not compete for food.

This was a great experience a must do if you have kids. We stay at the park and the tickets allowed us to go when ever we want for our whole time there. Pay in the gift shop, The show runs 3 time in the morning.

Gorgeous beach here. Dolphins and Emu are frequent visitors. Visited shell beach on route to Monkey Mia and this was well worth a stop. Stunning, vast white shell beaches stretch for miles. Plus very quiet.

Spent a week for new years here with the family. Absolutely amazing place. We had a garden view room which was nice to escape the heat. Pub and restaurant were really useful to have close by - food was decent and the drinks were cold. Pub kitchen opens at 4pm but the restaurant is all day. Swam with dolphins and turtles that randomly came by the beach almost everyday in the arvo (didn't even bother with the dolphin feeding in the morning with the mass crowds). Bring a good torch and check out the water on the jetty at night time 🐢🐟 made some great memories with the kids and will def be back at some stage!

This has been on my bucket list for 33 years and I finally made it. I just wish I had been able to go years ago when anyone could feed the dolphins! But it is under great management now to conserve the area and protect the best interests of the dolphins so I understand why, as its very well explained by the rangers. You need to buy a ticket to enter the area which gives you access to the dolphin experience, which is very reasonably priced, and the ticket is valid for 24hrs.

Wonderful experience for children However as I have actually experience dolphins on the same waves many times when surfing back home on the mid north coast, it wasn't quite what I expected as an adult, beit we visited some beautiful sites around the area
