In the vastly transforming hip area of Inglewood just east of downtown Calgary is Monki Breakfast Club and Bistro. They have a wide selection of incredible brunch selections to choose from. Everyone around us had generous plates of food. The food was super delicious. Our server was great and helpful but seemed distracted or busy. We tried our best to cheer her up. The atmosphere was vibing. It was very busy. I hear this spot has won a lot of awards! 5 x 🥞🥞🥞🥞🥞

Great spot for breakfast in a nice location. The food was tasty, though the salad portion felt a bit small for the price (you can see it in the photo). Coffee was really good! Just a heads up — they serve it with a single shot of espresso by default. Our server offered a second shot, which we accepted, but didn’t mention it would cost an extra $2.75. Most places usually charge around $1 for that. Overall, we enjoyed the visit and would come back again!

Such a great spot for breakfast! The food was delicious, portions were perfect, and the staff was super friendly. Cozy vibe and fast service. I’ll definitely be back!

Great little spot for some great breakfast. Service was excellent as well. :) would recommend any of the eggs Benedict. 👍🏼 The regular drip coffee was not strong at all and just average, so if you are a coffee snob- maybe order one of their other selections. Enjoy 😉

The service here is absolutely amazing. I loved my experience here and I loved how well connected the team seemed to be. I belive my server was a fellow called James and he made myself and other guests feel very welcome. The entire atmosphere is very welcoming. I’d recommend eating outside if you can when the weather is nice :)

Good looking dish has no value when there is no taste to it. I had one of the worst breakfast experiences here. We ordered few coffees, Halloumi Benedict and pancake taco. The food was barely seasoned. My pancake taco had sad looking “scrambled egg”, spinach, few pieces of peppers and so called goat cheese sprinkle. The dish barely had salt which made the light sweetness of pancake overpower, breaking the balance of the dish. I had to keep on adding hot sauce to my dish just to add some taste. They said that they specialised in lattes. We ordered a Banana coffee. It was less coffee and felt like a badly made watery banana shake. All of the issues with food aside, what made our experience worse, was the service we received. It was cold and uninterested. It was bordering being racist as we saw the same servers treating people of other races with a smile. The only redeeming factor was its cappuccino. We went to this place as we saw its high ratings and great reviews. However, we left with unsatisfactory overpriced experience which sullied our meal. I really hope that they raise their standards.

Google
Monki Breakfast & Bistro is a decent spot for a brunch outing with friends. The bright and welcoming atmosphere creates a cheerful vibe, and the staff are friendly and attentive. However, I found the portion sizes a bit smaller than expected, and the food quality didn’t quite meet my expectations. Additional Info and Tips: 1. Menu Highlights: Monki is known for its creative twists on classic breakfast dishes. Their eggs benedict variations and stuffed French toast are popular choices—worth trying if you’re into flavorful brunch options. 2. Seating: It’s a cozy space, but it can get quite busy during peak brunch hours. Making a reservation ahead of time is recommended, especially on weekends. 3. Dietary Options: They offer a range of options, including vegetarian and gluten-free dishes, which could be a plus for those with dietary preferences or restrictions. 4. Pricing: Prices are moderate but slightly on the higher side considering the portion sizes. It’s something to keep in mind if you’re looking for value for money. Pro Tip: If you’re a coffee lover, their specialty lattes and espresso drinks come highly recommended. Pair one with your meal for a complete experience! This updated version provides more actionable insights for potential diners while maintaining your honest critique.

Yelp
Definitely a place you don't wanna miss if you're in the area. Absolutely fantastic breakfasts options. The halloumi Benedict was so delicious. The Halloween was cooked so well and the sauce so tasty. The house potatoes were also good and a generous portion. London fog was perfect, made with loose leaf tea and perfectly frothed milk. 10 out of 10 recommend the halloumi Benedict. Service was great. And interior design was beautiful, very green.

Yelp
Delicious food and super attentive and helpful staff. Had a weird egg request and they met it perfectly. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Bustling place with excellent food. But not so crowded that we couldn't get seated. Great brisket tacos and stellar service from server JB!

Yelp
Brilliant breakfast and cheerful service. Good vibe and despite a bit of wait, definitely worth it. Both sweet and savory menu items were awesome. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Really great food and service! It can be quite noisy however. Highly recommend their Benny's and French Toast dishes

Yelp
IF YOU HAVENT BEEN TO MONKI BISTRO YOU HAVENT TRULY ATE BREAKFAST. The autumn apple French toast was chef kiss. Perfect prepared topped with white chocolate. The side of bacon was more than enough and the monki perogies was the best sweet and savory combination compliment know to man. Top of with a little valentina with make it even better. The food is 10/10. The space is warm and inviting, clean and cute. The aesthetic of the ambiance is great. The staff was great and attentive. I highly recommend

Yelp
I've had the opportunity to check out both Monki locations and the Inglewood one is definitely my favourite. The main reason? They take proper reservations while the Beltline location just has a wait-list you can get on while you're on your way there. I hate making brunch plans and not having a guaranteed table waiting. I also like the atmosphere in Inglewood better. It has a spacious backroom that you can't see when you first enter. It isn't nearly as cramped as the other location is. This is a great place to go if your group has diverse dietary needs. Everything vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free is clearly labelled and there are lots of choices. During my last visit, I went for the Monki Fondue which is a super unique dish. You get 3 shot glasses filled with melted chocolate and fruits/waffle crisps to dip in them. While I LOVED the fondue, it was a lot for a single meal. I'd almost recommend it as a shared appetizer for a group instead. Their Eggs Benedict options are also excellent. Try getting it on a waffle instead of the classic English muffin if you're up for something adventurous!

Yelp
I went here as my friend recommended it, and had heard good things about it. I'm from Calgary, but now live in Toronto, so it's always good to check out new spots. Luckily, I came early before the brunch rush and was seated along the wall on the high tops. The host said he would move us as a table was late, but never came back. So, we just made do, but would have been nice to have been given the option. Just happy that the bar stools had a back, or else my back would have hated it. Servers was nice and prompt, and didn't rush us. Food was good, with a homemade home fries and eggs were done well. Just wished that my smoked salmon was a little bigger, as I had four pieces of bread and only 2 tiny slivers of salmon to eat it with. Overall a decent brunch, but make sure to book in advance or come early if you don't want to wait.

Yelp
Hubby and I finally got around to trying Monki and really enjoyed it! Our food was RIDICULOUSLY good so I was a little surprised to see some of the low star reviews. I ordered the Chorizo Poutine and he ordered the Brisket Poutine. We both devoured them. It was so flavorful and I couldn't get enough. We also shared the Elvis French Toast which was also really really good. It was extremely heavy though so you need to be starving to order it. The mimosas here were also really good. I'd definitely recommend this place for brunch and I know we will be back!

Yelp
Small spot with great food. All of your sweet desires can be taken care of here. The service is quick and staff are nice.

Yelp
Excellent choices on the menu. Great service Hash browns were burnt and dry was the only food complaint. Only having brewed coffee is only other complaint

Yelp
Called and was put on the wait list. I was told 20 minutes to seat a table of two. I drove 20 minutes across the city and arrived only to be told I had to wait an additional 30 minutes now. In that time I could have gone to a different place for brunch but everything had closed during that time. Super disappointed.

Yelp
We went here for our first time today. It was the waitresses second day and she was awesome and knowledgeable. The food was amazing. Service was quick. Would go here again for sure. I am from B.C. originally and this place felt like home. Original ideas. With GF options. Great first experience. Thank you to the waitress for making our first experience even better.

Yelp
Great French toast in town. I come here when i crave for a French toast and Bene both beltline and Inglewood location. Servers nice and friendly. Today service was delayed due to some technical issue but they took our drinks off bill and we're happy for the compensation. Street Parkings for both locations and few parking lots nearby.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast, beautiful presentation and great service. A great place to catch up in a cozy warm environment.

Yelp
I have been to the new Monki a few times now and I love this place! It is located at the spot which was formerly fine diner bistro. The decor is a bit more trendy modern/chic compared to their other location which is more 'homely'. We always love the eggs bennies here, but this time I tried the pancake tacos which were delicious. The savoury taste of chorizo and eggs complemented the sweetness of the pancake incredibly well. Overall ambiance and service were great. I will be back again sometime.

Yelp
This spot tries to be hip and cater to hipsters , but the food is disgusting , no idea why hipsters eat here , maybe they like slop ? Maybe they are one off customers who made the same mistake we did and walking into a diner hungry and got disappointed. I got explosive diarrhea from their slop .

Yelp
Made a reservation, got to restaurant, the couple ahead of us was early for their reservation and the server gave them our table. Asked us to sit at the bar, tiny seats. We came all the way from Edmonton. Server asked us to help him out and relax because its stampede, but he gave away our reservation and we were on time! Never coming back. The bad reviews on here make sense

Yelp
Called for reservations the night before for Sunday morning brunch. Didn't need them at 9 but place was very busy by 9:30. Was a little hesitant to try this place based on other yelp reviews but both my husband and I loved the food! Service was really good as well. I had the morning after breakfast--super tasty. Eggs were great as well as everything else my husband had the brisket bene and he raved about it.

Rob M.

Yelp
We ordered the brisket poutine as well as the salmon eggs benedict. Both meals were very tasty with a different take on standard dishes. I would recommend this restaurant for a good morning meal.

Yelp
Delicious and beautifully presented food in a restaurant with a great atmosphere. They have a large selection of hot sauces and the chipotle sauce is amazing on hash browns. Unfortunately they don't have any espresso based drinks, just regular coffee, but it is good coffee. We made a reservation and they were even able to seat us a little early. A great spot for brunch in Inglewood!

Yelp
Want so bad to like this place but it's 0 for 2. This time, the rösti waffles were grey... literally. Due to oxidation of the shredded potatoes being left to oxidize. Not appetizing in the least, especially when combined with greasy eggs. Sorry Monki, just can't say my disposable income will be spent here.

Jason S.

Yelp
Very fast and good service. The food was good but slightly underwhelming. Very polite staff and nice decor.

Morris H.

Yelp
Made a reservation waited 45 minutes to get in. Appreciate sometime that is out if their control. Placed order and waitress forgot our drinks. Had to remind them after our food arrived. Food was not the best. Expected better after seeing it on you got to eat here. Food was a three, wait to get in was a 1, service was a one. Will try somewhere else next time.

Yelp
It's really hard to write a review for a restaurant that took over for another restaurant that is no more. It's even harder when that other restaurant was one of your absolute faves. But we're always looking for more great places to eat breakfast, so we had to give Monki a try. Our first issue was that the previous patrons at our table must have had the s'mores pancakes because there was molten marshmallow all over my wife's chair. It got all over her pants and hands. I understand that it is probably difficult to see white stuff on a white chair. On to the food. My wife saw our egg dishes piping hot in the kitchen, waiting to be delivered to us. But the servers were so busy talking to each other, by the time we got our plates, not so hot. Eggs don't taste that great once they start getting cold. Here's where it gets a bit unfair. The previous establishment had amazing breakfast potatoes. Lightly seasoned and a variety of potato types. Monki's were highly seasoned (the colour of dark paprika) and so well done, my fork didn't pierce them so much as launch them from my plate. The previous establishment had what was essentially thick, candied bacon - sooo good. I would steal from my wife's plate if she let me. The bacon at Monki was meh. I know, it's not fair to compare a place to that which came before it, but even if I try to forget how great it used to be under the previous banner at this location, I can't reconcile a $40 breakfast bill for two with what were very mediocre (and not very hot) plates of food.
