Let me say first, Natchez is a wonderful place to visit. You'll make friends everywhere you go. The general hospitality of the people and places is overwhelming. Now for the Monmouth Historic Inn & Gardens. We stayed in one of the duplex chalets with a private front porch and rocking chairs. You'll read that the rooms are a bit worn, and they are, but it only adds to the charm of being historic. The room was large and comfortable. The grounds are gorgeous and well worth a stroll. The Inn is centrally located to everything you'll want to do in and around the city center. The staff is excellent and attentive. We didn't eat at 1818 but we did enjoy the wonderful breakfast each morning of our stay. So generally, this isn't a crisp new high end place, and if this is what you're expecting, don't stay here. But if you're looking for real Natchez hospitality and a comfortable stay with lots of nostalgia, amenities, and friendly service, this is for you. ...and the silly remarks about the gravel driveway, they are not pot holes, they are drainage ditches, and how fast do you plan on driving through a hotel parking lot anyway????

This is a beautiful place. The gardens are gorgeous. We didn’t stay here, but we visited the house. The rooms are gorgeous. We walked around the gardens and saw all the different buildings where you can stay. There is one particular house at the far end of the garden by a pond that is so quiet and peaceful, you would really enjoy sitting on the front porch in a rocking chair and enjoying the tranquility. I highly recommend this place.

We stayed to tour several homes in Natchez and had a wonderful stay! Our room was huge and just perfect! The property is well kept and everything is clean. It is so peaceful! We had a great dinner at Restaurant 1818. Would highly recommend staying here!

We stayed here for one night only thankfully en-route to New Orleans. ||Our first impressions were not good as the gravel driveway was seriously pot-holed making it difficult to drive on. The check-in service at reception was fine but not particularly welcoming. But it was our 'deluxe' suite which really shocked us. ||The rooms were old, worn and shabby. There were stains/dirt visible on the carpets, chairs and in the closets. The outdoor terrace had not been cleaned in a while and featured a very dirty table and chairs and slippery moss-covered flagstones. ||Moreover, there was no safe in the room nor any tea or coffee making facilities. The huge bed was way too soft and had a very large dip in the middle of the mattress. The shower faucet was broken and came away in our hands. And there were very few available power sockets (and no USB outlets at all). ||The grounds were an improvement and more interesting albeit completely untended. Breakfast consisted of a very basic cold buffet plus a choice of either eggs any which way or French toast. ||This was probably one of the worst places that we have stayed at for quite some time...we were happy to leave.

What a wonderful historic inn that dates back to 1818. We spent three nights here and enjoyed the friendly staff at the front desk, enjoyed the very friendly staff in the Garden restaurant that served breakfast each morning. The grounds are beautiful. We loved sitting on our front porch that overlooked one of the two ponds. Don’t miss eating at their 5star restaurant 1818. Would stay here again when we return to Natchez.

My husband & I had a great time at Monmouth. We stayed in the Pond cottages. Sat on the rockers on the front porch and enjoyed the pond, birds and all the flowering azaleas. The staff was so nice and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the breakfasts were delicious! We will stay there again.

Google
We were only able to see the main rooms of the house. Which we had seen the night before when we were dining. The issue was you weren't able to see any of the upper floors because they had guests there. So I get that. But it was a neat place. I would go back and would keep it on the list of places to see.

Google
This location is absolutely beautiful. The staff was super friendly, especially Mrs. Ivory, she was so helpful and informative. Did not get a chance to eat at the restaurant but it is on my to-do list for next visit. 100% recommend. We just visited over the weekend and the weather was absolutely perfect.

Yelp
Spent an evening here. What a fabulous place! Nice historic inn on 26 acres. Beautiful venue with walkways and plenty of room. There is even a bar and separate veranda and also an inside space to enjoy your adult beverages. There is a large outside area if you enjoy a cigar with your bourbon. The breakfast is served in a separate dining room building and it was excellent. The serving staff was attentive and the food came quickly, to order. Can't say enough about the level of service. Also, the tribe of outside cats serve as the welcoming committee!

Yelp
Monmouth (Natchez, MS) The house is absolutely stunning!!! The staff there is so freaking friendly. And the food,... omggggg it was so good. I got the pork chop and *starts drooling* it was fantastic!! The home was built in 1818 by John Hankinson, a postmaster, lawyer and, steamboat entrepreneur, during the depression that followed the War of 1812. The mansion was a brick two-story in the Federal style. Hankinson and his wife died soon after completing the house and the house was sold at a public auction to Calvin Smith, who one year later sold the property to John Anthony Quitman, the future Governor of Mississippi. John Quitman, originally of New York City, was a partner in a successful Natchez law firm and married Eliza Turner, a member of one of the most prominent families. Quitman purchased Monmouth in 1826. The house was extensively renovated in 1853 in the Greek Revival style. The original brick was covered by stucco, scored to look like stone, and the portico was added to the front, along with the four square columns supporting it. John A. Quitman died at Monmouth on July 17, 1858, apparently a victim of what was then called the National Hotel Disease an ailment similar to Legionnaire's Disease, which many American politicians contracted after staying or dining at the National Hotel in Washington, D.C. His wife died a year later and their children took control of the home. In 1862, when Natchez was attacked by the Union army, most of the slaves fled. Most of Quitman's original possessions were either stolen in 1863 or sold by Quitman's daughters in 1865 due to financial difficulty. The house was spared from further damage during the war, as the daughters befriended a Union general and pledged loyalty to the United States. In 1866, three of the daughters purchased their siblings' share of the property, and by 1890, Annie Rosalie was the sole owner of Monmouth. In 1914, she died and left the home to her nieces, who sold it in 1924. For the next half century, the house was severely neglected with the house and other surviving structures filled with litter and the grounds overgrown. After several changes of ownership, Ronald and Lani Riches of Los Angeles, California, purchased the property in 1978 and restored it to its original condition. The restoration took 3 years. In 1982, after archaeological research determined the location of two small houses used as slave quarters, the buildings were reconstructed on the original sites. Though most of John Quitman's original furnishings had been lost, the house still contained a few pieces such as a sofa, a carved settee, and several chairs. The Riches searched for other furniture and memorabilia from Quitman, and they were able to recover his desk, two four-poster beds, and the Quitman family Bible. Other memorabilia now include the gold sword presented to Quitman by James K. Polk and the United States Congress for his services in the Mexican-American War, as well as the red handkerchief Quitman used to rally his troops.

Yelp
The beauty of this plantation was amazing. I was anted to stay longer, but I was so relaxed at this historic inn. It seemed everyone remembered my name. The breakfast was so good. I'm will go back to the Garden Room for breakfast.

Jay W.

Yelp
Great weekend getaway, the room and grounds were a step back in time. We had dinner at restaurant on premises and very much enjoyed it.

Dawn B.

Yelp
First let me tell you I am a major cheapskate. Lol. So normally I would not consider staying here. But I am SO GLAD I booked a room here. The grounds are stunning and the rooms are large and beautiful and comfortable. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. Your stay includes a delicious breakfast and a tour of the house. Highly recommend.

Robin B.

Yelp
We stayed in room 45 of the Quitman Retreat. There was a pond right across from the cottage. There were 3 rooms total in our cottage, but the other 2 rooms were unoccupied so we had the entire place to ourselves. The room was lovely and we were greeted with a toasty fire already going in the gas fireplace. The room had a separate living room and bedroom that were decorated in lovely antique furnishings. The bathroom was large with a separate tub and shower. The front porch had several rocking chairs and the back patio had tables with chairs. The back patio was surrounded by woods and felt very private. Breakfast was served in the Garden House, which was just a short walk from the cottage. The breakfast was good and the servers were very friendly. Our only regret was that we didn't have time to do the tour of the main house the next morning.

Marie K.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay here for NYE weekend 12/31/21-1/2/22/22 in the Quitman room #22. The grounds are lovely and peaceful even in Winter. For NYE dinner Restaurant 1818 had a set menu and everything we chose was so delicious! The Duck Breast and the Oyster Rockefeller Soup a 10! We really enjoyed our breakfast meals as well, with Michelle as our friendly server:) The staff knows what Southern hospitality truly means and showed it.

Yelp
This review is in the dining room experience only not the hotel. Our tour group had dinner. Amazing food.. Amazing service. Amazing place. Best streak ever. Best Braed pudding ever This is one of a kind. Highly recommend

Yelp
While in Natchez celebrating our anniversary, we stayed at Monmouth. It has all the luxuries of a fine hotel, with the character and ambiance of a bed and breakfast. Our room, the Andrew Jackson room, was not in the main house, but above what was the kitchen when the house was originally built. The room was decorated with period furniture, but very comfortable and clean... when I see photos of draperies around a bed, I automatically assume they're dusty, and fortunately, that was definitely not the case. The bathroom was updated with the modern luxuries you'd expect to enjoy at any nice hotel. We had a lovely view of the courtyard on one side of our room, and a view of, and balcony overlooking the gardens on the other side of our room. Included in the stay was a free breakfast and free tour of the house. The breakfast consisted of two eggs, cooked to our liking, a biscuit, grits, our choice of meat, fresh fruit and cereal. It was all delicious. Breakfast is served in the beautiful restaurant at the back of the property. Wendy gave a group of us the house tour, which was interesting and informative and lasted about 45 minutes. There were a few miscellaneous decorative pieces in the house that belonged to the Quitman family, and two stunning Waterford gasoliers. During the tour, we learned the story of the Quitman family. John Quitman was a General in the Mexican-American War, who later served in the Senate and as governor of Mississippi. Most inspiring was the letter he wrote to his wife, Eliza, declaring his love for her while he was off fighting the war. We were free to walk the beautiful grounds and relax. In addition to the courtyard, there was also seating in adirondacks around the pond, rocking chairs on the balcony by our room, and a gorgeous trellis that's covered in wisteria (which wasn't in bloom but I can only imagine how breathtaking it must be when it is in bloom). Complimentary h'ors d'oeuvres were served between 5:00 and 7:00 in the Quitman Lounge. We missed them by a hair, but did enjoy a mint julep and small talk with George, the bartender. He's a treasure! We've found our new favorite place to stay in Natchez!

Chris H.

Yelp
We went here as part of our 25 anniversary. It is a wonderful property. They advertise a bar and hor d e Ford. This is great idea. Except the the lounge is understaffed. Right now I am without a drink and waiting for someone to come back to the room. At a great relief George (bar tender/waiter) popped in and took of us. The girl bartender that started our service (Wednesday night) was just sitting outside on her phone. It might have been part of the COVID recovery that seem to create some spotty service at this place. Overall it was a good place for us to spend three nights. Now let me tell you about the breakfasts. Miss Mary makes everything so delicious that you will never wanted leave the table. There is a deep fried, French bread filled with cream cheese that is one of the most amazing things I have seen. She also makes grits that are a salute to every grandmother of the south. The grounds provide plenty of paths to stroll and peaceful pond side chairs to sit and relax with a bottle of wine or a cocktail.

Michele P.

Yelp
More than 5 stars! This is such a serene and peaceful place. The grounds are lovely, the rooms are beautiful, the restaurant is amazing, and the service is second to none. I wish I lived closer so I could visit more! Truly one of my favorites places!

Marisol Q.

Yelp
Very nice, historic hotel. The grounds are beautiful, the food at the restaurant is good. Nice place to take pictures and walk around and relax.

Brion C.

Yelp
The Monmouth House is located just outside of downtown Natchez on a large tract of land with a beautiful 26 acre garden and a massive house built in 1818 and renovated in 1863. I'd call it a large B&B as opposed to a hotel. There is a nice restaurant and a small lounge where guests can enjoy a drink before dinner - it's open from 4-10pm. You'll get to know Roosevelt, the bartender, who has been working there for 29 years. He has a great way of making you feel welcome. The rooms are a nice size with large bathrooms. The gardens are absolutely wonderful with a small pond, gazebo, pergola and hedges and flowering plants. Breakfast is offered in a nice setting about 100 yards from the main house down through the gardens. If you are in Natchez to see the historic properties downtown and in the local area, you can start your trip at Monmouth Inn.

Yelp
What a fantastic experience! Staff was friendly, fantastic food, wonderful atmosphere! 10/10, would recommend and will return again! Thank you Monmouth for an extravagant Labor Day weekend and Mrs. Ivering at the check-in desk for your hospitality!

M J.

Yelp
Cannot believe our stay at Monmouth. For less than $100, we got to stay in an adorable Antebellum historical room with thoughtful amenities with a view of the gorgeous patio. Staff was amazing and hospitable -- from the hosts at the counter to the sweet tour guide and George at the bar. A stay at Monmouth included the room, a morning full tour of the Estate, and a sit-down & served free breakfast in a gorgeous historical building! Our server was also amazing, sweet, and hilarious -- on the same theme of amazing staff. I have never had a better stay in any room ANYWHERE ... and I travel a lot.

Yelp
My husband & I stayed at the Monmouth Historic Inn and Gardens during the last week of September, 2018. We needed a quick retreat from our hectic & stressful life. This is the place for R&R !! From the scrumptious breakfast buffet each morning. Including Mrs. Mary's (30+ year employee) biscuits and oh, her cream cheese stuffed French toast are to die for!!! Rooms are very clean. Beds are very comfy! TV in both suites that we stayed in. Go nightly for complimentary hor'deurves & ask Roosevelt for one of his Famous Mint Juleps! From the Housekeeping, Nightly bed turn down covers service (Hal), front office staff (Jennifer, Laura & Lorrie), waitresses(Ms.Mary&her staff/1818 Waitress Ms. Shirley) tour guides(Mrs. Ivernee) cooks/ & their famed 1818 Restaurant- ALL are 5 Star quality. It's a busy tourist season during the Fall Pilgrimage BUT they make you feel like You are the Only guest. Customer Service is impeccable!!! The Gardens are beautifully landscaped & easy to walk through the walking paths. Ample outside seating to enjoy the great Fall weather. Owners Nancy & Warren are very hospitable & lots of fun! They mingle with the guests - not in a way that interferes with the guests- they let you know they are here for your needs & for the stay to be wonderful. Best compliment to give the Monmouth Inn is to return again one day. Cherish its age & historic value, folks should not complain about this Southern Antebellum Home - We should all appreciate the history of the late 1800's & age as graceful as The Monmouth Historic Inn & Gardens. The Redick family will return for another stay.

Madeline C.

Yelp
Had a wonderful stay at Monmouth. We stayed in one of the cabins and were presently surprised by the accessibility. We parked right next to the cabin we're able to move our luggage in easily. The bed was very comfortable, the AC was nice and cold for the summer heat, and the bathroom had a nice deep jacuzzi tub. I was happy I brought some bath salts for a soak. The location is gorgeous, has beautiful gardens, a lake, gazebo, and century old crepe myrtles and mossy oaks. It's definitely a wonderful place to relax and have some self care. The gift shop has local crafts and great post cards, the Quitman Lounge is a good place to unwind and have a drink with complementary hors d'oeuvre, the tour was informative and interesting, we had a delicious dinner at Restaurant 1818, and the complementary breakfast was excellent. Everyone had true southern hospitality and wanted you to feel at home. It was a great experience and I would recommend it to any type of traveler.

Lori L.

Yelp
We stayed here for 2 nights. The staff was exceptional in making sure our stay was comfortable. If we lacked anything, we simply called and someone would bring us what we wished..Ice, towels, hot water for tea etc. When our elderly mothers could not navigate stairs, their room was changed to downstairs and a wonderful staff member, Hal, came by to check on them and situate them to their new accommodations. Very excellent service above and beyond. They really go the extra mile. Lovely hors d'oeuvre are served each evening in one of their historic rooms where one can purchase wine or cocktails and enjoy the cool air. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with a pond, fountains and meandering gravel walks throughout. We took a tour of the main house as and enjoyed Ivory's informative talk on the history of Monmouth and the families that had lived there

Joanne C.

Yelp
Warm and friendly staff. Hal, the bellman is a treasure and extremely accommodating. Gorgeous, well maintained grounds. Our room in the lovely mansion was comfortable but after one night we moved to a plantation suite which had more room. Nice linens. The place could use some TLC and updated amenities for the prices charged. There should be mini coffee makers in each room. The historical experience is great, and the guided tour was very informative. Our breakfast was brought cold both days, perhaps sat in the kitchen too long, dining room seemed a bit understaffed and slow to replenish the buffet table including filling the fruit bowl, replacing juice glasses and serving coffee. Dinner at 1818 was very good in an awesome historic setting. Crab cake was huge and delicious.

Elliott D.

Yelp
Natchez is a beautiful little town on the Mississippi and this is probably one of the nicest places to stay in town. A converted plantation house with new rooms built on the location of old out buildings that used to be part of the place. It has a very nice bar and restaurant in the main house that are well worth a visit and the complementary breakfast every morning is quite tasty. The rooms are very nice and spacious. I stayed in one of the out buildings, Quitman's Retreat, that had three rooms and the proprietor's property. It was nice and quiet. The whole Inn is definitely oriented towards couples on a romantic get away. The canopied bed, the his and her sinks, the bathrobes, everything screams romance in your face so if you're coming through on your own like I did, you'll either find it hilariously blatant as I did, or loneliness inducing as I'm sure others have. One thing that I found troubling was housekeeping. I left my room at about 10:00 AM Sunday morning well aware of the sign that read "The Hotel is not responsible for personal belongings." So I locked my room and through my stuff in the deep closet, bringing some of my more precious items with me. I was out for many hours and probably got back around 3:00 PM. It was clear that housekeeping had been through but they hadn't finished. My room was left unlocked and there was no one around. I understand that the Inn is not responsible for stuff that I leave locked in the room, but when they leave my room unlocked and unattended, even if only briefly, it does become their problem. I won't make that mistake again.

Lauren B.

Yelp
Loved it. We stayed in the antebellum queen room and totally adored it. One weird thing was the guy when you check-in... he was really friendly but rambled on and on, and kept showing us every detail of the map. It got a little uncomfortable. Anyway, the grounds are amazing and set a gorgeous backdrop for your stay. The breakfast was nothing to write home about but dinner at the restaurant is a MUST. The shrimp and grits were deliciously seasoned and perfectly cooked. I had some of the best fried green tomatoes I've ever had, topped with lump crabmeat.

David E.

Yelp
We took the tour of the house which had a great history and we enjoyed learning about the families that had lived there. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and I got many great pictures. Although we couldn't see it (this is a working B&B), a custom-built bed had been made for the 6'3" General Quitman. Most men at that time were only 5'4" tall. The story about the marble fireplaces was very intriguing. One fireplace was found in pieces out behind the house and put back together like a 3-D Jigsaw Puzzle. The other had been painted to resemble the first - it actually looked like marble. Fascinating painting skills using a technique called "feathering" - with an actual feather! Walking through the gazebo, and over the bridge then past the cypress trees was a pleasant stroll to see how pleasant it must have been for them. You need to put this house on your list to see when you come to Natchez.

Tina Romero B.

Yelp
Walked around the grounds.. beautiful property .. no guide to explain about the history but did have markers explaining some things

Trish J.

Yelp
As a local, I've never stayed in Inn. I've only visit Restaurant 1818 and Quitman Bar. The Haute Cuisine is amazing at Restaurant 1818. You can't find their particular cuisine anywhere else in Natchez! And Quitman Bar has the one and only Roosevelt! He's well known for his Mint Juleps all over the United States. Visit this place ASAP!

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Went to the Quitman Lounge to have Roosevelt make one of his famous Mint Juleps! Had a great time at the two room bar & lounge and ended up visiting with an interesting couple from North Carolina, where the husband went to law school in Houston! I highly recommend the lounge if not for just the ambiance.

John Z.

Yelp
We had dinner there last night. It was one of the most enjoyable evenings in recent memory. The food was fantastic. I had the fried green tomatoes, arugula salad and pork chop. Perfect! The setting is so beautiful. The service was great. Everyone was super friendly. Our waiter was Gabriel and he was prompt, friendly, and professional. Also chatted with waitress Shirley, who was fun and friendly. The pianist Dan was an extra treat, taking requests and providing a special something extra to the evening. We were greeted by the owner, Nancy, who gave us a warm greeting. Thanks to all of you who made it such a special evening!

Fresh M.

Yelp
This is one of the most romantic and spiritual places I have been - There are just few places in America that has the beautiful aura of spirits passed, the exquisite service and ambiance - truly a place for La Vie!

Margot A.

Yelp
Definately worth going! Staff is super friendly, the house is beautiful, the rooms are clean and the breakfast is very nice. The tour of the house was very informative, the tourguide was very knowlegdeable about the house. We absolutely loved it and would definately stay again!

Denver M.

Yelp
I don't know what I liked better, the room or the service since both were excellent. I have stayed in numerous B&Bs in Natchez - but Monmouth by far was the best experience I have had. I stayed in one of the antebellum rooms, huge, clean, filled with antiques and a very comfortable bed. One of the best parts of my stay was the cost, if you take advantage of one of their specials, which can be obtained by subscribing to their email list, you can stay here for less than the price of a hotel room at one of the chains in Natchez.

Janie L.

Yelp
Absolutely spectacular! Beautiful grounds. We stayed in the General Quittman room. So nice. I can't say enough about how gorgeous the furnishings are. Breakfast was great. I highly recommend staying here.

Steve R.

Yelp
We didn't stay here at the inn but we ate in the restaurant. It is fine, elegant dining to the max. The dining room we were in was dripping with opulence. The meal is served in 5 courses: an appetizer, soup, salad, entrée, and dessert. Every course is meticulously portioned out. Not too big and not too small so by the time your dessert comes out you are ready to dig into it. It is extremely quiet so it does make it kind of hard to relax and chat with others at your table knowing that right next to you is a table of strangers. The food was absolutely delicious and cooked and seasoned perfectly. Restaurant 1818 isn't the type of place I would want to go to too often but for a special occasion it is perfect.

Yelp
The GOOD: GROUNDS:Some of the best in the city. Kudos to landscape designers & keepers. Enchanting. BREAKFAST: Outstanding Venue/ambiance. "Elevator music. Outstanding Service. Friendly waiters & waitresses. A brisk walk at too early hours to the venue from the sleeping qtrs. Breakfast constitues 2 eggs and "meat". Bacon baked was perfectly crisp. Fried eggs perfectly cooked as ordered. Coffee was not good. The ROOM: Nice to have 2 complimenatary Dasani purified water bottles. White table cloths for dining. The BAD: DINNER: Outrageous price for substandard food. Rib Eye Steak was about 3/4 FAT/grissle, and mgt had 2 chances to fix -- before they cooked it, and when they picked up my plate with all the fat left over. No wonder they cover the steak with a sauce; the garganzola sauce looked like 1/3 teaspoon garganzola cheese, with regular gravy poured on top. Female cook or chef came out to see how her diner parents were doing, but didn't care about anyone else. The shrimp & scallops tasted like iodine, meaning probably expired date. Complaint to check out desk resulted in "I'm so glad you told us, that's the only way we will know." 3 out of 4 of us were dissatisfied; the 4th (rib eye)was acceptable. Merlo wine had no body; had a plastic "cork". Not even the drinking water met standards -- tasted fowl. Clerk exclaimed they'd heard that before. WILL NEVER EAT DINNER THERE AGAIN. TOUR: Average. The least value. Only saw 3 rooms. Couldn't make souvenir photos of the front b/c mgt allowed visitors to park a prolonged time at the front porch. SLEEPING ROOM: Maids (?) came while we were at dinner, sometime between 5:45 pm and 8:00 pm. The TV was left on, on a different channel, and the window shades were pulled down. We suspected ghosts; never were warned that maids (?) come that late. Important to know b/c of previous comments read of security concerns. No coffee maker, no microwave, no refrigerator. So forget it if you did like your dinner and want to save leftovers for the next day. Bed comfort: dubious. Extra high Tub/shower lower wall challenges wieldability, especially with no grab bars. RESERVATIONS: Two couples we witnessed did not have their rooms ready after the 3 pm check-in time; excuse given was that the facility was fully booked. Clerk suggested they travel across town to the Natchez visitor's center to await their room. OVERALL: Our least favorite visit place in the 4 days we toured/stayed in Natchez. RECOMMEND visiting the grounds only -- believably FREE!

William H.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Monmouth Historic Inn. Everything was as promised and all the staff people were delightful. One of the best home-cooked breakfasts I have ever enjoyed eating. I would definitely stay at Monmouth again and highly recommend the property to anyone looking to stay in Natchez, Mississippi or the surrounding areas.

Vicki Z.

Yelp
It's only okay. The whole town is empty on Memorial weekend. Nowhere for a decent meal other than a pig out BBQ. the food in Monmouth Platation is so so and very Small portion! Even smaller than NYC! with NYC price though. Rooms are redone but how good it could be when it's made of wood 200 years ago? Staff are very friendly there. The breakfast service guy (an old black guy) only gives you a piece of bacon if you don't tell him how much u want. And if U ask him: can i have some extra bacon, then he brought U another piece :D there is a black waiter at the Quitman Lounge called Roosevelt is very friendly and sweet. He said Thank U every time he delivers a dish! What an experience! Don't think I will go back tho- too many Mosquitos and the town itself is really boring.

Zack P.

Yelp
The wife and I took a trip here over the fourth and had an amazing time the food was great at restaurant and the hotel rooms where great everyone should stay here!

James D.

Yelp
Get stay, fried chicken is the best. Stayed a few years ago and looking forward to going back.

Ann T.

Yelp
Go see Roosevelt in the Lounge for his special Mint Julep. He makes the mix himself and has won major commendations for them. Seven ingredients but he just can't share the whole secret with you, and he shouldn't. They are special. The other staff is helpful, lovely and accommodating. This place makes you think of a more genteel time, and that makes for a relaxing comfortable stay. The jet tub is icing on the cake after a long day.

De Ann G.

Yelp
I loved this place! The people were fabulous. I wanted to kidnap my husband for romantic getaway with a little bit of history because I love really old places. I chose this place because 1.) you could actually stay in the main house. 2.) The couple who own it advertized their Christian beliefs on their website with a scripture "As for me and my house we shall serve the Lord" I knew then I wasn't going to be stuck in a dreadful atmosphere of forced hautings that and I would much rather be among fellow believers. Will go back again for sure and hopefully make the captain's dinner

Yelp
The rooms and the grounds are beautiful and the service on the front desk was great. But it was let down by a horrible breakfast (burnt granola, tasteless rubbery eggs, watery coffee, disinterested service) which you do not expect for a $260 per night stay. It was also incredibly noisy - slamming doors and loud conversations outside our room. Will not be staying again!

Yelp
Beautiful location, friendly staff, excellent restaurant with wonderful food.....get the tasting menu. If we ever come back to Natchez we will stay at the Monmouth again. Perfect room.....#49. Very quiet and large.

Yelp
Met at Monmouth as a girls getaway and loved every minute! The grounds were beautiful, the staff was friendly and accommodating, our rooms (all different) were beautifully appointed. Dining was a real treat in the lovely dining room and breakfast each morning was outstanding. Can't wait to plan our next trip.

Yelp
Very expensive. We stayed in the carriage house and the rooms were small, no coffee maker in room. Two cocktails were $17.00. The tour the next morning started late and the tour guide could have done a more informative tour. Overall disappointing.
