Excellent pieces and presentation. Lovely commemorative coins. The museum is kind of small for now but I hope the collection gets larger as the years go on. Definitely drop by the gift shop. I love the fact that it was less crowded and more calm, it enables a pleasant visitor experience.

This museum is a hidden gem, offering one of the most captivating experiences in Paris. It delves into the art of coin craftsmanship and the evolution of metalwork over time. The collection includes coins from ancient Greece, Rome, and modern eras. Beyond coins and ingots, you’ll discover fascinating stories, such as the recovery of treasures from a sunken Dutch ship. Visitors can also explore the impressive coin-printing machines in action. Ideal for families, friends, or anyone seeking a unique activity, this museum offers a relaxed experience without the long queues typical of Parisian attractions. Conveniently located near the Louvre, it’s a perfect addition to your visit.

I think this museum was very interesting and extensive, but not too large. Texts are written in English as well which is nice. The building is beautiful and the exhibition covers many themes related to Monnaie de Paris, and money in general. I liked it how the exhibition is divided into suitable-sized parts, which makes it easier to follow. The texts are of optimal length. And of course, they have the Paris Olympic medals on display! Also, at least around 14 pm on Sunday, there were no lines at all and one could just walk in.

The Monnaie de Paris, or the Paris Mint, is France's national mint and has a rich history dating back over 1,200 years. Located along the banks of the Seine River in the heart of Paris, the Monnaie de Paris is responsible for producing coins, medals, and various forms of currency, as well as overseeing the preservation of France's numismatic heritage. The building itself is an architectural marvel, featuring a blend of classic and contemporary design elements. The mint has undergone several renovations and expansions over the years, with notable features including a stunning courtyard and a museum dedicated to the history of coinage. The Monnaie de Paris also functions as a cultural institution, hosting temporary exhibitions that explore themes related to art, design, and craftsmanship. These exhibitions often feature contemporary artists and designers, showcasing their interpretations of coinage and the significance of money in society. Visitors to the Monnaie de Paris can take guided tours that provide insights into the minting process, the history of currency, and the techniques used to create coins and medals. The tours often include a visit to the museum, where guests can view a wide range of historical artifacts and learn about the art of numismatics. Additionally, the Monnaie de Paris has a shop where visitors can purchase commemorative coins, medals, and other related items, making it a unique destination for collectors and those interested in the history of currency.
