SHAD'S & CELIA'S BIG TRIP TO CALGARY TO VISIT ME
View Postcard for Monogram Coffee

Google
Decent spot to get a good cup of coffee. Can definitely recommend trying out their pour overs. Got their Columbian pourover and it was well-extracted and tasted great. All the flavour notes were pronounced, though I also got a hint of a cardboard, papery taste. Perhaps something to do with their filter paper. Otherwise, the location is spacious with lots of seating. The counter is on the opposite side of the entrance though, which was slightly confusing.

Google
The best coffee in Calgary. Amazing espresso drinks as well as cold brew and slushies in the summer. Also prices are lower than many of the other third wave shops for better tasting drinks. It's the only place I go while in town now!

Google
There weren’t too many people on a weekend morning. I noticed they offer lattes made with clarified milk—definitely a great choice. The quality was excellent, and the lightly roasted beans had a very smooth taste. The clarified milk gave it a rich and distinct texture. I also ordered an apple-flavored turnover, which was absolutely delicious! So far, this might be my favorite café I’ve visited. P.S. Their WBC trophy is displayed right in front of the bar—definitely a place that values technical expertise!

Google
I ordered the Inmaculada pour over and the coffee came out terribly, and I couldn’t taste the notes of the coffee beans. I notice that the barista was doing other things (replacing garbage bags, taking after other orders) during the process, not properly timed the brewing of each step. He then left so I couldn’t talk to him about my experience. I’m from Toronto and I’ve ordered beans from monogram a few times before and I absolutely love your coffee beans. Today is my first time having the chance to try the coffee in person and I was shocked by how unprofessional the barista is. I wish this could be noticed. Thank you.

Google
I always enjoy visiting monogram for a fantastic cup of coffee. I introduced my colleague this morning and he loved it. We both had the sweetened condensed milk latte. So good. I’ll be back soon. 10/10 thanks team!

Google
Monogram Coffee is a Great espresso bar that serves espresso with a glass of cold water, which is how it's supposed to be. Highly recommend this place to everyone who loves coffee and visits Calgary, Alberta I liked the music and the barista was professional and kind

Josh Johnston

Google
Lucas was a super helpful barista that told us about a bunch of awesome coffee spots in Calgary. If you’re a coffee nerd, talk to him haha. And you can always bet on the coffee at Monogram to be awesome!

Google
Was visiting Calgary for a day and found this nice coffee shop with good reviews and decided to try it out, wasn’t disappointed. Their seasonal Vanilla Cinnamon Latte was amazing. It was mildly sweet, a bit spicy and had a great texture overall. I recommend trying their seasonal flavours if you are looking for something new. Also tried the Avocado Toast which was decent, lacking a bit of flavour, more salt needed but paired well with the coffee..

Yelp
I was a bit disappointed in this coffee shop. I was excited to come based on reviews but there were no syrups so my drink was pretty bitter. I also got a frozen drink but it was pretty mid. Lots of seating though. But I wouldn't come back

Yelp
I'm a coffee snob from Vancouver, in town for a few days. I went in because I was intrigued by the awards on display. One of the best lattes I've had in a long time. Top notch. Can't wait to go back tomorrow.

Yelp
Is the coffee from a country that supports charities Is it ....Colombian..Mexican..Guatemalan etc? Arabica? The best is Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. Any coffee from Africa is awesome!!!! Learn about coffee and its history.

Yelp
I've been to a lot of high-end coffee places, but this one is absolutely the top! The smoothest richest coffee I've ever ever had. The barista spent a tremendous amount of time getting it just right. Highly recommend..

Yelp
Super cute spot!! Calgary downtown is super cute with many brand new high rises connecting to each other. This place is inside the new 5th ave building, next to stock exchange. Super busy! Super crowded. Finding the location it was a journey itself. It's a massive new building with east/ west and Bow building across. Took me a good 10 -15 minutes to find this. But once I found it, it was easy and nice. Bright, beautiful space. Sweet treats and coffee, lattes and authentic spice chai! Masala chai with latte art? That was a first for me. But their lattes were the winner for me. I had 3 different lattes and chai in about 30 minutes here. I wasn't in a hurry but also wasn't planning on spending all day here. Spent a good 1 hour plus on lunch next door, coffee across the building before getting here. Next time, I'll come here first so I can spend more time here! Busy, long line but very in inviting decor with delicious coffee. They've also won awards in Ireland, Seattle for Worlds best barista Championship!! How cool. Loved my visit! Too bad it's so far, else I'd return and often!

Yelp
Really tasty coffee shop. It was raining and cold and I wanted something hot to start my morning off right. I ended up getting their seasonal latte, which was matcha lavender. Very nice and well balanced. The shop was busy when we came, but our order came out quickly. Cute place. Def recommend if you're in town visiting for a good cup of coffee.

Yelp
Before hitting the road and needing a caffeine fix, my husband and I stopped at Monogram coffee in downtown Calgary. I ordered a classic vanilla oat milk latte and it was absolutely delicious. Not too sweet and the perfect balance of creaminess with espresso. I love that they use biodegradable cups. Definitely a nice place to grab a beverage and a pastry item.

Yelp
We came for hot cocoa and pastries and all tasted fantastic. The only downside is drinks were pretty slow to come out and spaced out. The child's hot cocoa we ordered came out last (which you can imagine was inconvenient) and customer service was nothing to write home about. We finished our pastries long before all of our drinks came out. That said - quality was top on the several different beverages we ordered and on all 4 pastries we tried. The shop was obviously very busy (near their closing time) and could've benefited from more staff. Would return again in the future but would likely order to go, as those orders seem to be prioritized!

Yelp
Yummy latte with their house made almond cashew milk! Cute cafe with great ambiance and friendly staff.

Yelp
Loved this place, easy access to walk to if you re staying downtown, or tourist. This place offers different flavors that you can taste for their seasonal coffee selection. 10/10 would come back again, vibe, ambiance and playlist too!

Yelp
Beautifully poured oatmilk cappuccino.... I knew I was in the right place when I asked if they do an 8 oz cap (had to ask as the smallest size beverage in the menu is 12 oz). - the barista responded "we ONLY do an 8 oz cappuccino." Right answer!! This space is delightful with a bright and vibrant aesthetic, chill lounge music and cheerful (but not syrupee) baristas. I would definitely come back next time I'm in Calgary.

Yelp
Everyone was super nice!!! As soon as we walked in we weee greeted by smiles and a comforting atmosphere. Both the avocado/lime and the butter/preservatives toasts was the americano. The place was clean, neat quiet and service was quick and tentative. Absolutely recommend

Yelp
Great coffee. And a nice selection of breakfast items. Great hang spot for work or otherwise. Coffee made with and delivered with love

Yelp
WOW this is good stuff. So came here with my colleague and my engagement manager. I got the Nut Mylk Latte (heard that they are famous for their Nut Mylk because they make it in-house) and I got the avocado toast. The nut mylk latte had a sour taste to it. It was pretty good and interesting flavor. The avocado toast was delicious. Well anything with avocado is really good. So the the bread that they use is a very healthy who wheat bread. They did smush up the avocado and they added olive oil to it. Again anything with olive oil is tasty. They place is quite busy. We were not able to find a full size table to sit in. Popular coffee shop. I highly recommend giving this place a try. Its located inside the 5th Ave Place - West tower. Close to where I work and that is a plus.

Yelp
I ordered the condensed milk latte and apple cheese danish... both were really good! They are very good about checking for food allergies and the girl came and asked me if I was allergic to hazelnut since the item in the oven before mine had that in it. Pretty busy place and the interior was really nice! Not super "comfortable" seats but I could sit there for a while and hang out -- and actually, we did!

Yelp
Monogram's a cool downtown coffee place with clean modern lines, an inviting space for enjoying some coffee, catching up on e-mail, or just hanging out with friends. The background music (some good alt-rock), at just the right volume, helps create the cool vibe, as does the friendliness of the staff.  Let's get to the coffee. I was in the mood for a dark roast and, while there wasn't any available, the young man behind the counter suggested a nice rich Guatemalan roast - and his suggestion was spot-on, a full-bodied, satisfying cup of coffee.  I also ordered the avocado toast, and here's where I can't really continue with the superlatives. The avocado spread was a bit too acidic - a heavy hand with the lemon, perhaps - and, while the avocado was spread onto a nice hearty bread, the bread wasn't toasted. Isn't that the whole point of calling it avocado TOAST?  My order took soooo long to come out that I didn't really want to send it back, thinking it'd take soooo long to come out again. Also, there was some avocado peel in the spread, making for a bad last bite. Without the satisfying crunch of the bread to complement the avocado, this selection is a miss. So, my suggestion is to just go for the coffee. I'd still recommend it as a cool place to hang out, read the morning paper, or just ease into your day.

Yelp
Ordered their iced coconut latte (summer special). It was really good! It's not very sweet, which is perfect for me. And I loved the coconut flakes they put on the top! Their drip coffee is good for those who like fruity roasts. Lots of natural lighting in the cafe and it is quiet. They offer free wifi as well. Definitely enjoyed this place!! +++ also, had such good service! I was welcomed when I walked in and all the workers had such friendly smiles! That's the kind of atmosphere that makes a place so enjoyable! +++

Yelp
I'm not a coffee connoisseur (far from it), but I'm giving Monogram 5/5 stars for the fabulous service and their attention to detail. First of all, why are all the staff so upbeat on a Sunday afternoon? A very friendly and non-intrusive team. Next, they say Monogram has the best coffee in town. I wouldn't know that, but I did notice that their cappuccino is a lot more bitter and thicker than anything that I've had before. There's only one type of milk alternative here and it's a housemade blend of almond and cashew milks sweetened with dates. Tbh I could really taste much of the nut milk in my cappuccino as the coffee was so strong, but it gave the coffee a very smooth consistency. My avo toast was faultless, only wished there were two instead of one slice! The sourdough bread is sourced from Sidewalk Citizen, I think. Lastly, the cappuccino cake with a small glass of sparkling water... Talk about fancy ;) Perfect for working, except couldn't find an outlet.

Yelp
One of the best espressos I've had in a long time! Great spot to grab good coffee. Batch brew and pour overs available. My kind of place!
google avatar

Chris E.

Yelp
Very impressed. Had a standard drip coffee. Really enjoyed it. Bought some beans for home. Ground them up this morning and tasted just like they serve.

Yelp
Best espresso tonic ive ever had. . Only negative is the small space because it's in a downtown office building. Great welcoming employees as well. Zero pretentiousness.

Yelp
Monogram Coffee has a modern decor serving up a limited selection of drinks. The staff was friendly. I was curious to try the condensed milk latte, but was disappointed when it didn't taste anything like condensed milk. When they say it's "sweetened lightly" with condensed milk, they really mean it. It was so light that I didn't taste it all. While the drink was a good quality latte, I would not order it again.

Yelp
I was a frequent visitor of the Altadore location and now having a location in downtown Calgary close to my office makes for lovely lunch breaks and coffee catchups with friends who work downtown. They have great seating options for people and a selection of pastries and toast to go along with your coffee if you need a bite. Some of my favourite orders are the seasonal latte, london fog and chai tea. The staff are really knowledgeable and really care about serving a high quality great cup of coffee.

Wendi O.

Yelp
The best coffee. Super bold and flavorful. Excellent roasting. The entire store has a luscious aroma. I highly recommend this place. I'm from Houston, but don't miss multiple trips to Monigram when I'm in town.

Yelp
Needed to write an update for Monogram because after having tried 3/4 of the menu, I'm still obsessed. Monogram is literally what I look forward to every morning when I wake up. Their toasts are fabulous for all times of the day, but I especially love the hazelnut toast or the apple butter toast as a sweet treat in the afternoon, and the green toast for a savory breakfast. Their bircher muesli is delicious, and I alternate between that and the yogurt with apple butter for breakfast. I hoard the packaged Little Tucker energy balls and Snickers bars for during the day when I need a pick-me-up, especially because they're priced more reasonably than other establishments. They get their pastries from Butter Block, and to be honest, I choke on my own drool a little bit when I think about their almond crossaint that tastes like 1000 calories of HEAVEN. If you're visiting, be sure to pick up a few bags of their coffee beans. They taste exactly like the coffee in-store when you grind it at home! I brought a bag back to the States and it was a huge hit with my coffee loving friends.

Yelp
Lovely new coffee shop. The space was big, bright and open and beautiful. Ordering was quick and easy. The baristas have iPads that make ordering and paying very easy. The person helping me was super friendly! I ordered a quinoa cookie and condensed milk latte, both were delicious! I will be back specifically for the condensed milk latte as I've never really seen this anywhere else in the city. Great job Monogram!
google avatar

Yelp
Monogram. Welcome to downtown Calgary. I've already been here twice since they opened on Monday and absolutely love it. This location is much bigger than their original 16th Street location and very convenient for those who work/live in downtown Calgary. Great décor, incredibly friendly baristas, this is the place to be. I've had the Americano here and it was delicious. Move over Caffe Artigiano and DeVille. This is going to be the new go-to-spot for coffee downtown. 5 stars!
google avatar

Elina H.

Yelp
The layout is a tad confusing but the coffee I had was probably my favorite in Calgary. They have a good selection of toasts and they have special coffees, which is what I had. I believe what I got was an iced almond blossom latte and it was so good. If you're into fruity flavors I would totally recommend. It had rose petals on top and it kind of tasted citrusy and flowery. It was really good. The inside was well lit and clean. All the employees were nice and helpful. The girl taking our order helped my mom decide what to get and she never came across as irritated with us.
google avatar

Kasey G.

Yelp
Great little coffee shop in the heart of Calgary! Monogram has excellent coffee complete with a great vibe. The shop is clean and modern and features plenty of seating. It can be a bit slow in the morning when it is crowded but it's worth the wait. The staff is super friendly and they have some of them are very talented at latte art. I would also recommend their green toast for breakfast. The bread is always fresh and crispy and the toppings complement the avocado and ricotta spread nicely.
google avatar

Elen O.

Yelp
Everything about this place was AMAZING: the coffee, the food and the service! Vegan choices were fantastic. I've never seen nut milk cappuccino been presented so beautifully. Thank you, Monogram coffee tea!
google avatar

Andrea H.

Yelp
Love this coffee shop! They have excellent service and delicious baked goods by Butter Block. Get the almond croissant! I love holding the mugs the drinks come in - great hand made vessels:)
google avatar

Yelp
Wish I still lived in Calgary to frequent this place more often! What a gem this coffee shop is near the Eau Claire part of downtown. We have a residence not too far away and I just happened to be walking passed it when I was en route to find the Harry Hayes building, and so glad I did! The coffee and atmosphere were both superb. It's obviously comes at hipster prices but I don't mind as it was seriously worth every penny. I was in town for 10 days and came back a few times. That's how you know I'm addicted, especially while I was in Calgary all I wanted to do was try something new daily. Tried both a hot latte and a cold brew and both were phenomenal. They also had these locally made energy bites, and they were so tasty! Great for pre or post workout hunger. Calgarians what are you waiting for, GO TO MONOGRAM. Hey Monogram, if you're reading this, we'd love to have ya in California cheers!
google avatar

Linda T.

Yelp
Cute spot for a cup of coffee. Nice vibe and space. They have fancy pour overs and the usual lattes and cappuccinos.
google avatar

Baneen N.

Yelp
Great place to hang out with coffee and a snack! I ordered the honey, hazelnuts, and cream toast, and it was surprisingly filling. I would not recommend trying to eat it with a fork and knife; just bite off a piece. I asked the barista for a coffee recommendation, and he suggested the condensed milk latte. I got it iced, and it was really good! I should've swirled more as I drank because I had quite a bit of sweetness left at the bottom of my glass, but I also nursed my drink for a couple hours. The place can get pretty busy on weekday mornings, but it started to clear out around noon on the day I was there. There are also plenty of seats available, and many people take their coffee to-go. It can get a bit noisy if you're trying to get work done, but I also prefer some ambient noise when I'm working, so it was a good environment for me.
google avatar

Yelp
Good coffee, nice space. Much better than the nearby alternatives.

Yelp
I was in Calgary for the week again, and decided to try a couple different coffee places near the hotel I was staying at. Monogram was a short walking distance away, and it was open early - perfect! Since they did not have soy milk, I tried their homemade almond & cashew nut mylk, that's sweetened with dates, in my latte. As with all the other nut milks I've tried, the nutty flavor overcomes the coffee flavor, clashing with it, vs. enhancing it, and it was just OK to me. I saw they had a banana chocolate bread pudding in the counter, that I had to try. Now that was *amazing*! So decadent, I couldn't finish the entire thing, but it did make me want to go back for more. A couple days later, I went back, and unfortunately, they were already sold out of the bread pudding (why?!). So, this time I decided to try their take on the cinnamon roll and almond croissant. Both of these were good, but not outstanding, like the bread pudding. I'll definitely be back early for that bread pudding!
google avatar

Kelly T.

Yelp
Very good buttery, flaky, moist almond croissant. There's a perfect amount of almond paste in the middle. It would be dangerous if I worked nearby because I would be tempted to get one everyday.
google avatar

Steven H.

Yelp
Woohooo Monogram! Congratulations for opening your beautiful location downtown. Watch out downtown Calgary! When I crave a good latte, I think of Monogram. I can always rely on them to serve me up a warm and wonderful beverage. My favorite is still their Condensed Milk Latte. I love all of their baked goods. The Almond Croissant and custard baked good (don't let looks fool you!) are my top contenders. I have yet to try their gourmet toast. I can't believe how fast they've grown. This is just a tribute to Calgarian's support for their creative, quality work. I still love their Altadore location, but this downtown has a complete different feel (and the open space!). Thank you Monogram for serving our Calgary the finest cafe in Canada - and I will stand by that.
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
So happy to have a Monogram coffee in the core of downtown! Being on the ground level of 5th Ave place, this shop is not obvious to those who travel around at the Plus 15 level. The store is cute, clean and modern with lovely displays of pastries and neat menu boards. In addition to standard drip coffee, lattes, americanos and various tea beverages, Monogram also offers seasonal lattes in unique flavours. On this visit, I tried a regular latte. The espresso was wonderful and smooth but I did find the drink a little too milky for my taste and not as hot as I would like. On my next visit, I plan on trying an Americano misto steamed extra hot.
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
Hands down the best coffee in Calgary. Not only that, but the employees are always friendly and helpful! Delish toasts and pastries. A must visit when in Calgary!
google avatar

Kian R.

Yelp
Great coffee, great atmosphere, great service is all I can say. I am a Espresso-Americano fan and I can definitely say the difference between all the Americanos I have had with this one. Coffee is tasty, brewed just at the perfect temperature.
google avatar

Shourjo D.

Yelp
The drip coffee hit the spot. Good service and nice ambience. Perfect for your caffeine and quick b'fast fix if you're downtown. Didn't have any food but the food menu and baked goods looked legit.
google avatar

Yelp
The newest Monogram location with definitely be a hit. The large bright space has lots of seating and the decor is clean and modern without feeling to design-y. I visited with my mom on a Saturday morning and was greeted by a friendly guy named Ralph who explained the "Honour Bar" ( a quick place to grab a coffee and pastry by yourself, and they trust you will pay using their fast little iPads) as well as their in house nut mylk and the various new blends of beans on offer. From young hip types to families and grandparents, every demographic enjoyed the new space. They can accommodate singles as well as larger groups.

Katie F.

Yelp
Their pea toast in the pic and avocado toast are amazing. I also love the design inside, very modern and relaxing!
google avatar

Yang N.

Yelp
Monogram has great beans and great batch brews for a quick fix. They did a really good job with the aesthetic in the downtown location, makes it a great spot to get some work done.
google avatar

Michele H.

Yelp
Amazing coffee, bright modern atmosphere and the honey hazelnut toast is crazy good! Will be back!
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
Yes Calgary! It's about time you got an awesome coffee place, and Monogram is IT. A few choice of beans , made however you take your caffeine (my achilles heel being the condensed milk version) and pastries to go along with it. Haven't had a bad coffee yet!

Vee V.

Yelp
i would have loved for this to be a five star review and it came close, but no cigar. the interior of this place is quite nice and it is a very nice place for downtown yuppies to catch up over a weekend coffee, or for the suits to get their coffee fix while working away in the glass towers nearby. Nonetheless, I found their coffee to be rather average, despite the numerous barrista awards displayed on their countertops. The coffee has a good flavour, but does not necessarily provide the mind blowing effect you expect from a 5 star rating. I additionally had their "nut milk" latte, which is very smooth but has a distinctly sour taste, which totally kills the rest of the smoothness and the good coffee taste. The pricing is quite outrages, I paid close to $13 for two lattes (one large one small), including an almond milk one. Thats way to steep. So overall, I would recommend you try this coffee shop if you are close by, however, dont change your plans to come here, as I did.
google avatar

Jess F.

Yelp
Chill vibe, delicious brewed tea, great music. A little sad they close in 15 minutes, didn't realize. If I lived in Calgary I'd come back. Cheers.
