First time here the service was quick and everything was done very well. Tayvon is really nice and he actually helped me figure out the cost of the work that needed to be done on my car. Also Jimmy is an outright honest mechanic. He had shown me some things about my vehicle to get a better understanding of what I needed done in the future for my car. Overall a great team in general I liked the service there. Would definitely recommend! Update: It's been a month later my transmission is bad. I looked under the hood and checked the stick. It's not transmission fluid I don't know what they put in there but now my car is not drivable.

I had a check engine light on my Honda CRV while driving my daughter to Baltimore from PA. I stopped on a Sunday afternoon without an appointment. Jimmy said he would help me, assessed my vehicle showed me the results and had me on the road in less than an hour. I appreciate the friendly service at a very reasonable price. Take care sir. Pete

We loved this place for years, it was the only car repair place where we felt we weren't actively being screwed over. So when they charged us almost $500 to replace the battery, I had to check the receipt. Why would we be charged $79 labor for a "free battery install" on top of the $79 labor to install the battery? $158 to install a battery?? We went back to Monro and asked about this but were told that "FREEBATTERYINSTALL" was actually a discount diagnostic price, and the battery install wasn't free at all. I mentioned that the sign on their window says most battery installs are free, and the guy didn't seem to know what (GIANT) sign I was referring to. Anyways, they didn't budge on the $158 labor. And we're in the market for a new service place.

After stopping at 3 other auto shops, that all told me to wait for hours for an oil change, I was able to walk right in and get served immediately. I was on my way out of town and needed to freshen the oil in my car for a long trip. Thanks to the friendly and accommodating staff that made sure my car was safe and road ready.

Last Friday, I brought my vehicle in for a diagnostic due to the check engine light warning. I was informed that the diagnostic would cost $110. The results showed an issue with the catalytic converter. I requested a quote for both the catalytic converter repair and the labor costs. I waited for over an hour with no updates, which was frustrating. They told me that the parts company had closed. The front desk mechanic told me they would call the next day with the information, but I have yet to receive that call. Paying for these services should not result in a lack of essential information that would help me decide on the next steps for my car.

My car needed a new tire, so I scheduled an appointment. That morning someone called in sick and they were short staffed. Working against that adversity, they were still quickly able to get the tires and install them. Very professional and they did a great job.

Made an appointment for an oil change. The place was completely empty when I arrived so I pulled up to the garage. Looked around for the manager to check in. He was out smoking in his car. He came out and reprimanded me for parking in the wrong place. I requested a refund for my deposit they required for the oil filter, and cancelled the appointment.

Got a flat on a visit to Baltimore - found them on yelp and called to ask about the tire I needed. When I got there Jerome got the tire I wanted from a sister store and it was on in under an hour. Great service, good price, and made a rotten situation as easy as possible. Definitely recommend!

I made an appointment on 8/31 for a front brake pad replacement on 9/7 at 2pm. I go in and they say they don't have the stock and with none around they will have to get me in next week. This is unacceptable service. The whole point of making an appointment is to get the service at that time, not to wait a week. This sucks because they are a few blocks from where I live.

BEWARE! RICK IS GONE! I've been coming here for 7 years. They were great, honest, and never once upsold or tried to overcharge for unnecessary work. Those days are over. First off, I called 2 hours after having my car dropped off to get a status update because they never called after only having to run a check engine light diagnostic and tire inspection. I was put on hold for 15 minutes and the guy got back on and said they didnt have my car... eventually they did find it... I asked what did the diagnostic say, and he said there was no code because something was wrong with my car. Come to find out, another hour later when I just went over because I couldnt wait any longer, there is always a code and they screwed up. And after it being there over 3 hours they didnt know what was wrong with it. Just showed me the report with the codes they said didnt exist... They also now charge $130!! Just to run the codes where they used to do that in the past for free. So I had no work done, they poorly communicated, I got no clue about what is wrong with my car, and now have to use up another day to take it to a different shop. BEWARE. Such a shame to have lost my honest mechanic. I hope rick is ok. Monro just lost a long time customer.

I will change my review if I ever get any reply. Seems like they are ridiculously busy or something because they are impossible to even get a confirmation from. I have been trying to get an appt. confirmation since Thursday afternoon. No reply as of Monday night. I have emailed twice, called four times (finally someone picked up and said to call back tomorrow...bc they couldn't help me over the phone today) with no option to leave a voicemail. I also requested an appt. two times online - absolutely nothing. It shouldn't be this difficult to get some sort of reply and doesn't seem like they want new business. I see they commented on my review but no one has gotten back to me about an oil change at this point.

Took my Honda CRV here to get a new battery. They initially quoted us $250 for a new installed battery. When my son went picked up his car, they charged us $350 that included battery cost $170, installation fee $140, and disposal fee $40. When we questioned how long it take to swap out the battery, the manager wouldn't answer but said corporate price for new battery installation labor is $140. "We can't change that." But since I brought it to their attention, they'll give us a $40 discount. If you have AAA, they will charge you $19.99 for installation fee. I would not come here or any of their branches. Seems like greedy corporate policy or shady manager. Come here at your own risk of being screwed over. I had a great experience the last time I used this business (a little over a year ago). I just realized after reading some of the newer reviews here that our great experience was before the departure of Rick and Drew. This all makes sense now why the current management/ownership acts like a stereotypical sleazy auto repair business.

Got a tire patch and they poked a second hole, I guess because they missed the first time. They didn't patch it so my tire went flat again. I also was supposed to get a tire rotation, but the same tire went flat in the same exact position, so it doesn't seem they actually rotated my tires. I was also supposed to get a wheel balance, who knows if they did that. They were never friendly. They didn't seem to care about much of anything. They took like 4 hours somehow. Terrible. I will literally never come here again.

We'e been coming here for the past 6 years to get our oil changed. It was great until this year (we learned from other reviews that Rick and Andrew have left). We really enjoyed Rick as he was really honest and helpful. You can get ripped off in other places, especially if you don't know much about cars or in my girlfriend's case, a tiny girl who doesn't know anything about cars. But we never felt this way at Monroe. They were honest about what and when we need to change, like our brakes or tires. They never tried to sell any services and the best price for motor oil change. The only downside is the waiting time. No appointments; walk-in only. So we would bring our cars in morning and we would get a call that our car is ready in the afternoon/ evening or near closing time. However, the last time we brought my girlfriend's car here for oil change, she paid like $46 when she was used to paying half that price. We always bring our own motor oil, so we really just pay for labor and the oil filter for $46. When asked why the price is double, the person said because the oil got expensive, which doesn't make sense (total BS) b/c we brought our own motor oil. We had to specifically request to get our wheel rotated and looked at, which was supposed to be included (so make sure you specifically ask for it). When we called for a quote for tire replacement, they were also the most expensive compared to other auto shops. They gave us a quote in the $600s but other auto shops were in the $400s. On our way here for oil change, the plastic piece under my GF's car bumper came off halfway. We asked them if they could look at it and fix it/ cut it while they lift the car up for oil change. And when we came to pick the car up, they totally ignored it and left it was it is. But the guy at the counter was nice to take a look at it and cut the hanging piece for us. We're just disappointed that this place turned like this after Rick left. We're looking for other locations to get our oil change now for a more competitive price, closer to us and more honesty. We get they may be short-handed with a lot of customers, but we would rather pay more for honest opinions and thorough services to prevent any car accidents/ issues on the road.

I was a previous loyal customer of Rick's. I took my car to Rick every time I had issues - tire patch (which was always free!) and oil change. I took my car there yesterday for a tire replacement. The customer service was minimal and I was quoted 145 for a one tire replacement (I thought that was high considering that I had two tires replaced in another auto chain on my other car and it cost 250 total). When my boyfriend went to pick up the car today, he had to pay for 160 - an upcharge for no reason. I feel very much ripped off for the service I received and I will never return again. Based on the other recent reviews, this rather shady practice seems to be the way that the current team does business. I would recommend that people go elsewhere.

But today i needed assistance before heading on a long road trip and despite being extremely busy Jeff came to my rescue! I've been going to this Monro for about 20 years, 8 cars. Rick and Andrew have always been courteous. Very honest. They were more than fair - free diagnostics, free tire patching. All the work has always been great, no problems, and best prices around to boot. Today I went in and Rick and Andrew are gone. The new people in the shop have brand new uniforms, so I suppose this is a very recent change. I asked the guy at the counter for a diagnostic on a check engine light and to look at a tire losing air, and this guy, who didn't even seem to know enough to wear a mask on his face correctly, presented me with an estimate for about $300. I told him I didn't want to pay that - Rick had always done this for me for free and just charged me for the work, and the guy immediately took the paperwork back and threw my keys at me. Yep, no exaggeration. I told him about the 20 years and 8 cars, and this was a shame, and he pulled down his mask, gave me a sarcastic smile and waved goodbye to me. What a shame. The great reviews were well deserved, but it's a different place now. Don't be fooled. Where are you, Rick and Andrew?

Needed to get a brake looked at and dropped my car off Tuesday around 10:30. The guy at the counter said his mechanic would be in later and he'd give me a call with an update and an estimate. By 4:30 pm I hadn't heard anything and called but didn't get anyone. I call again 15-20 minutes later and the guy I dealt with earlier picks up. His mechanic hadn't looked at it yet and he assured me they will get on it promptly and he'll call me back with an update before they close. Well, I never got a call back. I call again the next morning and they still haven't looked at it. The guy assured me again they will look at it. He calls back within 45 minutes and says I'll need to order an entire parts kit in order to get a specific bolt for my break housing, and that said bolt is not in stock anywhere in there system. He quotes me a price and I say I'll call him back after I think it over. I look online and the bolt appears to be everywhere so I go order it myself, as a single piece of hardware, and for much much cheaper than they quoted, and I go pick it up. I call the guy and say I'll bring it by for them to install. He then tells me there mechanic had to leave and they couldn't put it in today. Long story short I showed up and installed it myself. It was a standard bolt, maybe 5/8 - 2inches that you could have picked up at any hardware store. Never going to them again. Incredibly suspicious that I was being BS'ed every step of the way, ended up having to acquire the parts and do the labor myself over the course of 2 days for a brake job that should have taken 3 minutes and cost 10-20 bucks, and both times I showed up in person a mechanic in the shop was just sitting playing games on his phone and wouldn't even go get the front desk guy when he saw me. Absolutely disappointing service. PS there was more wrong with the break I found out later, they had diagnosed the issue with as little effort as they could have and didn't even look at the actual break they just saw a bolt missing on the housing and then stopped all further inspection into the issue. Terrible practice as a mechanic

Been coming here for 8 yrs and was surprised to see someone else (not Rick or Drew) at the front desk when I went in for an oil change recently. Dropped off the car and got a call a couple of hours later. When I picked up my car, I noticed there wasn't a new sticker with the next mileage for an oil change. Seemed a bit fishy. And then I realized they didn't fill my tires with air or reset my car oil change indicator (like they have done every other time). The front desk also said my battery was fine but the battery receipt said "replace battery". I question whether they actually did anything to the car. They did try to sell me wipers and an air filter. As others have said, I wouldn't recommend as their attention to detail is severely lacking and borderline sketchy.

I don't know if this is acceptable car repair practice or not, so I'll let y'all be your own judge. Background- my car battery light was on so I brought it in to be looked at. Also needed an oil change. Good: They did a diagnostic free of charge. Got the oil change done about $29. Bad: They couldn't really tell for sure what the issue was so they recharged my battery but said the light may come on again and it would be the alternator in that case. Well, my car ended up dying completely less than a week later and I had it towed (to another service center.) Should I be glad they didn't try to up sell me from the beginning to replace the battery and/or alternator? Or upset they didn't find the issue and/or just recommend replacing one or both potentials? You can judge. I kinda wish I had just gotten them replaced because it turned out a much bigger deal for me to have to get the car towed (which involved having to get a rental while the other one was out of comission.) BUT, the diagnostic was totally free, and they did tell me honestly that they didn't know the issue for sure and the light may come back on. I think if you have some car knowledge and can judge for yourself whether or not to take the initiative on replacing things, this is a good place for you. I would consider going back depending on the type of service, certainly for an oil change.

I brought my car in today for an oil change that I was in DIRE need of. Got there around 4:30 and they were quick to get my car up and check everything out. I waited maybe a total of 20-30 minutes and they were finished. I got a full synthetic oil change, and Rick charged me $20-$30 cheaper than surrounding shops. I also asked if the car looked alright underneath the carriage and under the hood, totally expecting a "well you need this, that, and that" but it was all good! 10/10 recommend and I will 100% be going here for all my future needs. Thanks again, guys!

As many of you can see, Rick and Drew are gone. I had been going to Monro for a decade and only ever trusted Rick to work on my car. New staff is like all the other places- wanting to charge for all the services you probably don't need! I get they need to make money, but we can also tell when shops are BS'ing us. Tell me the truth, and I'll pay you. I got two oil changes there since Rick left, and the prices were inconsistent, so that alone lost my trust. The first one, Jeff told me that I was getting a discount. Then, when I returned, I didn't get a "discount," but somehow, I paid less? That's just fishy. Everybody loved Rick and Drew because they're fair and trustworthy. So much that you have to get your car there at 8am at the latest, or the lot is full. I went around 1 on a Saturday, and I was surprised, the lot wasn't even half full- shows how much business they lost by switching management. Thank God I found out where Rick works now, and I won't be returning to Monro!

Best auto shop I've ever dealt with - I trust them fully. They won't upsell you in BS, and won't recommend replacements early just for the sale. First time I brought my truck in another shop had told me I would need new brake pads, Rick laughed that off and told me they still had plenty of life left. Customer for life after that.

What happened to Rick?! Beware he is gone now and the shop has gone down the drain. I dropped off my flat tire Tuesday morning because they told me it would be hours to plug it up. I said I probably couldn't make it back before they closed so I could grab it in the morning and they said no problem. I ended up getting off of work early so I called to see if it was ready and it wasn't !! I ended up going back in the morning to pick it up like the original plan and they still hadn't done it! I didn't even waste the rest of my time. I took my tire and left. The front desk worker is careless and lazy. Go somewhere else don't waste your time!!!

RICK RICK RICK RICK!!!!! These 5 stars alone are for the excellent and professional service that Rick has always provided for me and my beloved car over the last 2 years. I always get my oil changed with Rick because he is such an honest mechanic with pure intentions. I say this especially as a woman who occasionally comes to the shop on my own. He truly does right by my car and me by always making sure our needs are met. Always going above and beyond, even at the end of a workday. Usually, I like to have my oil changed with synthetic oil. A few weeks ago, I had realized this time around I didn't quite have enough oil for a full oil change. Rick was happy to help supply the rest at a very generous value. Additionally, we had to prepare my car for a cross-country road trip all the way back to the west coast. Rick rotated my tires, checked my brakes, changed my oil, checked my tire pressure, checked my battery, and made sure everything was in tip-top shape to endure the long journey back. Well...we made it back to the West Coast with my car running in excellent condition! I'm sad I will no longer be in Baltimore to get my car serviced by Rick any more, but I have to say a million thanks to him for his kindness and generosity in always providing the best for my good ol' Rexy. Thank you, Rick! You're the best! Will miss you from over here!

I dropped my vehicle off at Monro this morning to have a slow leak in a tire fixed. I went to pick it up this afternoon and they told me, "No charge! Just leave a positive review for us if you don't mind!" "Absolutely!" I said. As I drove away, however, I noticed a huge crack in my windshield. So, I drove back and asked the manager about the crack. "Honestly, I don't know nothing about that," he said. Then he suggested that something must have flown up "off the highway," by which he meant Howard Street. When I pointed out that I parked it on the side of the building this morning, he said again that he knew nothing. Then he told me I should call my insurance company. No apology, no nothing. Didn't feel like arguing with someone with a mask half on in an enclosed space, so I left. I will not be back and suggest you avoid this place.

As long as Mr. Rick is here, I will keep coming back. He is a very knowledgeable and professional guy. I've come here when I needed new tires about a year ago and recently just came back because one of my front tires kept losing air. When I came the first time, he took his time to explain the different options I have and gave me a cost-effective solution. I felt very confident that I'm getting what I need without getting ripped off. He's very honest, unlike some other mechanics out there. When I came the second time, he asked me to leave my car to see if it can be worked on the same day. When I came back, he told me that it was completely free. They took care of removing the screw on my tire, patched it up, and reinflated it. I mean, where do you get free service like that these days?!?! He's so nice and will take care of you. This is the only place I will come to for tires as long as he's there. Thank you, Mr. Rick!!!

This has got to be my favorite auto repair shop in Baltimore City. I have been to two other shops along N Howard St and have not had a good experience. However, when I went to this shop the first time, I was immediately reassured by the attendants polite and helpful attitude. Particularly, Rick and the other fellow who usually works at the front (he is taller, dark and bald). I have often been concerned that an auto shop will purposely misdirect me in my car's needs. I've how shops purposely break a car for more business from their client. Since I have been going to Monroe Muffler, I have never had any problem and there has never been a lapse in trust. They know what they're doing and they do it honestly, quickly, and with immense care. I have often been given free tire adjustments and other services from this shop, and I've seen other clients treated in the same way. Honestly, this shop is the beat and I won't be going elsewhere while I'm in the Baltimore area.

These guys bend over backward for their customers. I just arrived in Baltimore and made an appointment. They did not confirm, but their system sends an automated message, so I thought my appointment was confirmed. I showed up and they were fully booked, but because it was an honest mistake, they managed to fit me in. They could have turned me away, and they would have been within their right to do so. Do your self a favor and use their services.

Rick is pretty great. I typically go to my dealership for oil changes but in the interest of time and travel, decided to come here instead which turned out to be a much much better deal. I think oil changes run about $22, which is pretty good to begin with, but Rick applied additional coupons to my service so I was able to get an oil change, tire rotation, and tire pressure check for about $17. He also seems very willing to do any follow-up service or inspections at no additional cost. Will definitely continue to come here.

Rolled in around 3 on a Friday afternoon with a screw in one of my tires. I wasn't sure whether it punctured all the way through, but I didn't want to remove it and risk leaving myself stranded somewhere. They took me in but explained up front that I'd have to wait for them to finish the cars before me. I told them I'd wait. They got to my car about an hour later and discovered that the screw never went through the tread and I was good to go - I expected them to charge me for their time but no charge!! Seems like an honest shop that tries to help their customers and keep them coming back. Excellent!

Also, unlike most mechanics, they do not try to find a bunch of things to charge you for that you supposedly need and instead only recommend things if they're actually important repairs. Amazing customer service! Rick was very informative and my car was in and out in a short amount of time. I really appreciate when businesses take the time to ask about how my day is going and also discuss any concerns I may have. The people here went above and beyond to do just that. I highly recommend this place!

I took my truck here for tire balancing after The Tire Network and Baltimore Tire both got it wrong. I saw the positive Yelp reviews this place received. So, I figured that I would give this place a try. In short, Rick balanced my tires. He had heard about my misfortune with the other mechanics and did not ask for payment (or a Yelp review). The car coasts much further and shimmies less. It seems Rick got it right. I will come here next time I need tires.

Been here twice, both for an oil change, the last time for a squeaky af belt that they lubricated. They didn't charge me for helping out with the belt, nor loosening a rusty screw that made it impossible for me to remove my license plate frame. They've also rotated my tires in the past, also no cost! I initially chose them because they seem to have good reviews from folks like me and they were close by. Now I go to them, because I really trust these guys! Will come again if my car has any other issues.

Don't bother checking in or printing coupons, the $21.99 oil change with the free tire rotation, break inspection, and tire pressure check is there standard offer - not a deal or discount. Good service. Good location. No coffee in the waiting room, but there is a really loud tv that's usually playing dramatic shows like Jerry Springer.

First time here and service is okay so far. It's 11:54am and my car is up and being serviced. Note that I brought it in at 830am so the wait has been long. They did warn me beforehand so I can't be too upset about it. When I first arrived it felt like I was getting some push back. They had a lot of clients lined up already. A few regulars I presume. I offered to leave but he said he could do it so I've been waiting. The place is nice enough. And they are very busy. I can't count the number of people who've come in for service. And the phone calls were nonstop at one point. So if you come, be prepared to wait a few hours. Or come bright and early before 8a. Or leave the car. It was recommended to me to do that but I don't have access to other transportation and there isn't much around here to do besides visit graffiti alley which I recommend doing. Also, DO NOT make an appointment online. They do not honor it. I called to confirm a 1030 I was allowed to schedule. It was a no go. So walk ins only. Okay, car is down. I might come again. This place is awesome! I'm a little torn about writing such a positive review because I don't want everyone in town to start coming here, but they really deserve it. Called on a Tuesday afternoon about an oil change and Rick told me he'd get it done if I brought it right away. They got the oil change and a tire rotation and balance done in about 30 minutes! Plus, no hassle about getting other services done like at one of the neighboring service centers. Icing on the cake is that he charged me one of the best prices I've gotten in Baltimore for an oil change and tire rotation. He doesn't have a huge staff, so I would call and check with him to make sure he's not slammed with other cars before you bring yours by.

I stopped by to get an oil change and they told me they were booked all day but could try to squeeze me in if I dropped off my car. 3 hours later my car was ready and they even rotated my tires for me! I asked how much windshield wipers would be and they suggested I go to Walmart instead- much cheaper but then they ended up replacing mine for free! The oil change was only $18 and they answered a bunch of questions and gave me tips! I came in thinking I needed new brakes but they assured me the brakes looked good as new! any other place would have charged me for new brakes probably but Rick was a sweetheart ! Thank You!

This is my third time going to Rick and his team for my car repairs. I came to his shop for an oil change and repair of flat tires on two different occasions. Every time I have visited, Rick has been courteous and honest with prices (which are significantly lower than other places I have called around for quotes) and has done the job quickly (usually within a few hours). So thankful for this shop and would highly recommend!
