After a thorough online search and extensive research on hotels in Old Quebec, we settled on Monsieur Jean, and I'm glad we did. We booked a deluxe room with an outdoor terrace. Our room (411A) included a small table with two very comfortable chairs, a nice wingback chair, a king-size bed, and a kitchenette behind two floor-to-ceiling cabinet doors. There was even a nice console table close to the door, which was very handy for our hats, gloves, and scarves. ||The hotel is located in Old Quebec, just a few blocks from historic sights, and is surrounded by restaurants and shopping. The Bijou in the hotel lobby provided a nice European-style breakfast and has phenomenal cocktails at night. We didn't get a chance to try the evening menu.||This hotel is funky and unique. The lobby and hallways are not well-lit, which is on purpose to make your room seem even more light-filled. Our room faced Rue Saint-Jean, which wasn't the greatest view, and there was some white noise coming from the hospital, we think. If you are very sensitive to noise, you might want to ask for a room around the corner.||The staff were all amazing, from the front desk staff to the housekeeping staff to the waitstaff in the restaurant.||My spouse and I stayed here during Christmas time. It was a perfect location to access the multiple sites of the German Christmas Market. Quebec is magical at Christmas, and I highly recommend. We never used the terrace, given the weather, but it had a Christmas tree with lights to add to the coziness. Another miniature Christmas tree was set up on the table in our room.||Be sure to look for the journal and leave a note of your visit.
