Our Man in the E.

I stayed here in 2019 quite a few times, but was sad to see when coming back in 2025 that it is no longer there. What was a nice boutique hotel/guesthouse is now a bar. Apparently the hotel became a hostel (?) and then became a bar. For some reason it still appears on booking sites such as Agoda.

Great affordable hotel in the middle of the action. I was given the third floor, but be warned, there is no elevator. A central room shielded me from most of the music, but I encourage earplugs. Water pressure in the shower was a little weak, but serviceable. Guests are ok. One of the staff was very helpful and took care of my motorbike overnight. What was excellent was that I left a couple hundred dollars in the safe as I was leaving. The cleaner lady found it, alerted the receptionist and returned it to me in the nick of time intact.

Very nice hostel, we took a private room and it was very comfortable and clean. The service is super kind, they can organize a bus if you want to go to another city. They have a little space for coffee (no food). The only ick is that the street is very noisy with bars and at night you have to put earplugs to sleep well.

Pluses: Room is quite large with a table, desk and fridge. Balcony has a riverview - if you put your head exactly right - otherwise it looks down on the bar girls cat calling all the foreigners who walk by. Bunk is large, comfortable, and has a light, outlet and shelf. Large locker, with lock, in the room. Laundry available. I was told 24 hours. I dropped mine off at 9AM and it was ready before 6PM. Staff is mostly friendly and helpful. Can pay by credit card online Minuses: My bunk literally had a room light inside it. So if anyone turned on the light for the room it turned on the light in my bunk. There was at least one other bunk like this. An ABSURD $10 towel deposit. Bathroom stalls and shower stalls are quite small. Lots of leaks - the floor is always wet. AC condensation drips on the floor and tables. Four flights of stairs to the dorm. Internet not working when I arrived.

guys its in the red light areas and just very uncomfortable walking around outside at night. the beds were big and good lockers too and a nice balcony but our water stopped working and the shower head then also broke. cockroaches in the bathroom and mould on the bedroom floor. it also is a lot of stairs if you are on the top floors.

We booked a hotel through the Agoda app in June 2025 for a stay in July 2025. Upon arrival, we discovered the hotel was undergoing renovation and construction. Fortunately, a kind neighboring business owner contacted the hotel management, who informed us the hotel had been closed for nearly two months. They were unaware why bookings were still being confirmed. We had to find new accommodations and contacted Agoda to report the closure and request a refund.

This was my worst hostel experience ever. I booked a “mixed dormitory” but found myself in a room with only male teenagers and men. The room smelled terrible, was unclean, and the hostel was located in a red-light district, making me feel extremely unsafe and uncomfortable. I decided to leave at 11 PM and book another hotel instead (best decision ever). The next morning, I returned to request a cancellation for my second night, which I had paid for at a higher rate directly at the hostel. The staff initially told me to come back the next day, but when I did, the manager refused any refund. In total, I lost over $15 for a horrible experience. I highly recommend avoiding this place!

We had read the comments left by other travelers prior to our arrival at the hotel. We expected it to be noisy given its location in the red light district. We expected to have to climb stairs due to the lack of accessibility and that some of the accommodations would not be particularly modern. On the other hand, we were absolutely shocked to find that the sheets had not been washed (traces of urine or other things on the bed) and blood (or other things) on the curtains. We had booked for two nights and left after the first. However, if you get there, the staff is kind. ✅Wifi was OK. ✅ Staff was helpful. ❌Coffee shop looks close… ❌ Cleanliness ❌ People sleeping in the lobby. ❌ Photos aren’t representative of reality.
