Monsopiad Heritage Village

Great tour experience, support this heritage village!!! I had a fantastic time thanks to my tour guide, Mary, and the rest of the awesomely welcoming staff/performers here. I learned a lot about the Kadazan people, the legend of Monsopiad the headhunter saving them from the pirate/marauder invaders, bobohizan shamans, and much more. Interactive stops like the fire starting, blow-dart and slingshot shooting, grub and honey/liquor eating/drinking (no the former, yes to the latter), culminating in the live music and dance performance (they really tried to get me to join, but I'd hurt my back recently and had to decline--no really, not an excuse!!) made this village experience EXTREMELY worthwhile!

We had an amazing experience here! The tour guide was very informative and had many interactive and hands-on experiences such as learning to make fire, using blow gun and trying sago grubs. There was also a cultural performance where we were able to join and learn how to do some steps. Overall we loved everything and would definitely recommend to anyone that wants to learn more about the Kadazan-dusun culture!

It's a nice place to visit, especially for those who like to know more about the history of the place and the culture of the Kadazan-Dusun in Sabah or Borneo. The tour guide are very friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you to the guides Melanie and her workmates.

Have to highly commend this brilliant excursion. From start to finish I was made so welcome by all the staff. A fascinating insight into the Kadazan culture and heritage in Sabah. Truly a worthwhile experience. The traditional dance performances are run throughout the day and really set the tone. The trip included a delicious traditional lunch and local coffee only available in Sabah I believe Big shout out to Mims and Karen for explaining everything so factually.

Really wonderful experience at the cultural village. There were games, food, drink sampling, music, performances, and it all felt pretty authentic sharing of the culture. Our guide, Mel was new but really helpful and informative.

Highly recommended place. Our guide explained the history and culture in detail. We enjoyed all the performances, games and traditional food & alcohol (brewed by the villagers). You can buy tickets online or at the entrance. (Rm75 Malaysians, rm85 non-Malaysians) We rented a car and drove ourselves to the destination, there is free parking. Do take note of the time of the tour at 11am & 2pm only. Do bring along mosquito repellent or buy in store at the souvenir shop. We spent 3 hours here and its was worth every second. Please support this community as their funding from the government was cut and now solely rely on tourism.

Our experience in the village was unbeatable. We took part in a lot of immersive activities, going through several sections where we did different things and learned about the history behind each of them. The attention we received was excellent. We were accompanied by a very attentive young woman who treated us wonderfully throughout the two hours. The dancers and musicians also performed just for us, and we were only two people. The whole experience was perfect. I highly recommend it.

Decided on this cultural tour. We walk-in and were the only group visiting at that time. Danish was our guide and he could speak English. He is of the Sino- Kadazan ethnic. He explained very clearly throughout the tour and also did a demonstration on eating the bamboo worm "butod". It was really a eye opener and we are glad that we did this tour. Please do support this local cultural tour. They have a cultural show too!
