Berlin's 4 Top Wonders in 2018

"The Monster Kabinett is a wonderland (so to speak) of massive robotic creatures, clanking metal sculptures and insect-like beasts. In short, it lives up to its unsettling name. Created and maintained by an art collective known as the Dead Pigeon Collective, the Monster Kabinett is a warehouse full of strange art and costumed revelers, all waiting to put on a show each Thursday and Friday night. Good luck trying to figure out which creations are human and which are simply moving metal masterpieces. Visitors are confronted with the stuff of nightmares, from skittering arachnoid robots to leering, malformed sculptures to aggressive actors straight out of a haunted house. Except this haunting is year-round. The journey to the Monster Kabinett is a fitting one as well, down a dank alley off of a bustling city street. Most patrons are unsure of whether they’ve reached the right location until they’re directly in front of it, often greeted by a good-natured but somewhat off-key member of the collective. The gallery is safe, of course, but built to instill and inspire as much fright and dread as possible. And rest assured, the Dead Pigeon Collective does that part very well. The Monster Kabinett better seen than heard, which is why their website is built as more of a tour than a repository of dry information. And really, what information about the gallery is necessary? It’s best left a mystery until you experience it first-hand. Update June 2018: The museum/collection is open Wednesdays through Saturdays with hourly tours." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

This is Crazy and fun thing in Berlin‼️ 👍 You asked for monsters you got monsters‼️ If you looking for something different or new, go for it. But if you don’t like loud, just think about it‼️ cause it’s very loud and rock. If you are young, just go for it. But don’t go alone ha ha ha. You just can buy a ticket from out side by cash 10 €

The craziest and coolest thing we did in Berlin. Had no idea what to expect but the guide and his stories were so interactive and funny that time flew by. It’s unfortunate that we can’t take pictures but these images are forever in my mind. If you’re in Berlin and are looking for something not touristy and off the beaten path, this is a must!

A must see if you’re into fun, kooky, imaginative, creative, outsider art. A total unique attraction in Berlin. It’s great to see the creative energy is alive and well at the end of this eclectic alleyway, which is an attraction in itself. Fun for kids too. Can be a little loud but the people who run it have headphones to dull the decibels for those who may be sensitive to loud sounds. The person who was our guide when we visited was really great at interacting with the mechanical creatures and the audience, I kept thinking he’s had to have done this a thousand times but is making it seems like it’s the first time he’s doing it. It reminded me of my teen years back in the 80s in NYC and the off beat night clubs that used to exist in Alphabet City then. Thanks to the folks running it for a good time. Tschüss ✌🏻

My favourite thing I have done in Berlin, so fun and the staff were so lovely. Was longer than I expected which was brilliant and they put on a really good show. Brilliant idea banning any photos or videos from being taken because it lets you be pleasantly surprised. So worth the €10!

My literal favorite tourist spot in Berlin. If you’re visiting the city or have lived here, it is a must see. I suggest doing no research about what it is. It is a beautiful and wonderful experience.

The facilitator was energetic and demonstrated good showmanship. It was a brief 20 minutes guided tour and was fun. Kids will especially love it. Not to be missed

Well worth the money!!! The machines were beyond what I expected. The show/host was very entertaining. So glad we did this. Highly recommend!!!

Google
Well, I expected more after seeing all the stellar reviews. But I was sorely disappointed. The group was WAY too big for the tiny space, and the guide tried pushing people around so everyone would fit. We were uncomfortably shoved into tiny spaces and half of the group still couldn't see. The machines themselves were quite interesting, but looked way past their prime and in need of some fixing or updating. And don't get me started on the noise! Some of the machines were clearly saying things, but it was completely indecipherable because the music and mechanical noise was just too loud to discern anything! In the end we were shoved into a tiny mirrored room where a weird machine sang a song that was supposed to be the "song of souls"? But I couldn't make out a single word, it was just noisy. Definitely not appropriate for young children, and felt quite overpriced for what it was as well.

Yelp
Because what is Berlin about besides having a weird experience with a congenial host, a dark basement, and some crazy robot monsters? So much fun -- a real high point in our trip! We love the inventiveness, the ideas, the sense of being somewhere down a rabbit hole of creativity. A couple of notes - $10 euro, cash only, and the show times are now on the hour not the half-hour on the website.

Yelp
A demented pee-wee's playhouse that stirs the imagination and leaves you amused and slightly confused. They have weird hours so plan accordingly if you truly want to check this out. They have a limited amount of people that can go through the narrow hallways at once so try to hop on a show as soon as possible. im not sure what others are talking about when they say the staff is rude. Some of them arent brimming with joy, but they were never rude. Our tour guide had the right amount of corniness and charisma that charmed me from the get-go. I admit that this show is not for everyone. If you're coming to this show expecting Cirque du Soleil, you will be disappointed. People can have some high expectations when a few dollars are on the line. But if you go in with an open mind, you'll have a good time.

Yelp
A great show with amazing music and monsters. Great for anyone with a good imagination or for a music fan or musician looking to hear something brilliant. Amazing!

Yelp
In a quirky, boho corner of Berlin we came across this spot and were intrigued! €8 entry each for a guided tour of robot sculptures that spring to life through story telling. The pieces are incredibly made and a real treat for the eyes however I found the guide really off putting. I think the experience would work better as a self led walk through, as the dialogue from the guide is random and kind of cheesy. A cool spot to hit if your in this part of town and looking for something unique to do while having a few beers from the bar across the way or a bruschetta for a pop up restaurant at the back of the square!

Yelp
I lived in Berlin briefly in 1986 and this place reminds me of the anarchic, playful, apocalyptic feel of the walled city, from the entrance through a grafitti-lined alley, to the frenetic (English-language) patter of our Russian host, to the pneumatically-driven robots and the music. We found it hilarious, ingenious and well worth the entry. Yes it's a bit of $ for a short show, but we were very happy to support art of this kind, rather than some canned corporate crap like Berlin Dungeon. Our two kids, age 12 and 17, say this was their favorite activity in Berlin.

Yelp
It's awful. €8 it lasts about 15 minutes and the guides are truly shocking! Not only that but the one of the guides was genuinely, and I mean genuinely one of the rudest and most condescending person I've met in my life!

Yelp
A little bit disappointing. We were very excited to go here because of all the good reviews, but we had to wait for half an hour to get in and the tour itself was very short and a bit amateuristic. I personally didn't mind the loud music but it just seemed all a bit old and not very well maintained. Considering this all, I thought the price was too high.

Yelp
Some nice machines in a basement, they tried to compose a show out of it but it doesn't really works, looks much nicer in the photos.
