Even after finalising the itinerary, I always keep one or two days extra whenever I visit any place. Because you may 'discover' something interesting later that you may want to visit 😎. Mont Saint Michael was one such place that I 'discovered' when I was in Paris. The visit to the Mont took the whole day (12 hours), but it was worth it. 😊 I had booked the day tour with the 'Paris City Vision' tour company. And everything about this Fairytale Castle on a tidal, magical, holy island turned out to be awesome.....a perfect blend of natural and man made beauty. From the car parking area, which was about 2.5 km from the walkway bridge to the Castle, shuttle buses were available, although you can walk all the way if you want. Carrying an umbrella did help ☂️ as it was hot and sunny. During the French Revolution, the Castle was nationalized, and monks who had settled here as early as 966 CE were expelled. The Castle also served as a prison for some time. However, after the celebration of 1000 years of its foundation, some monks again moved in and started residing in the Castle. So there does exist a very small French commune here; with a mayor, priest, postman, and police ! The bay of Mont Saint Michael, covering an area of about 500 square km, boasts of the highest tides in Europe, and those who want to experience the tides can plan their visits accordingly. Be prepared to climb lots of stairs. The steep winding street of the Castle is lined with many shops and restaurants, so don't forget to taste the classic Mere Poulard omelet here 😋.

Wonderful place! The architecture is amazing and impressive. Visiting it is worth every penny. You’ll pay €20 for 3 hours of parking – that sounds like a lot, but it includes a shuttle bus to the island (there and back) and the entrance fee. Prices in the village itself are nearly double compared to the rest of the area – for example, a fridge magnet usually costs up to €4, but here it’s almost €8. As for the visit, make sure to plan at least 4 hours if you want to go all the way to the top. There are a loooot of stairs!

A place of incredible beauty and impressive architecture. The overcrowding and the prices of the restaurants are worth mentioning. The shuttle service to the mountain is smooth and free. It's recommended to purchase tickets online to avoid lines, and wear comfortable shoes to climb the many stairs.

Nice and beautiful castle . Good time to enjoy with friends and family . Time to spent for 4 hours. Lot of hotels are near by there. Only prob is direct connectivity . If you go with tourism it should be much better.

Lovely place to visit whilst in the area. Parking is t cheap but then it’s not bad considering optional bus service included and no entry fee. We tried to pre book but was too late so we missed a 2euro online saving. Very swift, we walked there and back with 4 kids and pram as it was a nice 35-40min walk. Queues for the bus made it even better to walk. Toilets before you hit the path are a must as you get charged to use the loo on the island. Very steep to bring a pram so we had to abort some parts going up as there was steps and lots of cobbles. We went in the morning and it’s very busy so be prepared to take a slow walk.

One of the main France symbols is actually super great in real life, it’s stunning and really huge. Absolutely love it, definitely will visit again in future, maybe stay inside or with some view to it. Visit took 6 hours, the quickest you can do is 4, but do not count on less. 10/10, just take some end of season / out of season time to not dive into massive people crowds. 🏰

A dream come true experience. The Abby is worth going for the first time, personally won’t go inside again, too narrow and small, had to wait at many stops because of the crowds. The outside view is much more impressive, especially from the cross path bridge. Take a walk on the sandbank is a cool experience as well. No wonder this is the second most visited attractions in France. Half day is enough though.

Incredible construction. Feels very old and partially still holy. We bought the entrance to the monastery/cathedral beforehand and this was helpful. The view from the top was stunning and impressive. Hoe did they get these building blocks on site? How many people worked here? Were they slaves or devote workers believing in the mission? The energy inside the building, at least in some of the rooms, was not good. It took me by the throat and caused a bad headache. Walking outside along the towers was great. Maybe the very best was the muddy walk back to the mainland with low tide. The daughters enjoyed it a lot and it gave a great sense of nature to be in the mud and water together. You must be careful about the upcoming tide, though and be prepared to get wet over the knees. In terms of food i recommended to bring your own. Nothing healthy to get and what we found was incredibly expensive. We had a shitty coffee for 6 eur. Not at all worth the price.
