Yelp
I had high hopes for it, and this place offers a nice location and has plenty going for it. There are several tiers of rooms, and I ended up in a larger one than I wanted, mainly because it was booked out well in advance. It's a decent size building, but quite popular. They have plenty of bathrooms, and despite Tasmania being chilly the heat and the blankets did the job fine.
They're very low on security, but I think the selling point of the place is that they've tried to set up a culture. The owners are very present and took the time to shake my hand on entering, and one gets the sense that this is a place meant for adults who want to be there (whereas you can find some sketchy, fringe-y characters floating around Australia and New Zealand's various hostels). The worst that could be said of it is that people were noisy the last night I was there, but when you pay for cheap accommodation, that's a risk you take. I was happy to take the money I saved and put it towards other things.
