Stayed here for a yoga retreat over the weekend and did not want to leave! The setting is just out of this world. Each chalet has large south facing windows with picture postcard views. We arranged for a transfer from Martigny train station to the hotel. which is expensive if travelling alone (CHF120) but the minibus can take up to 7 people so sharing the transfer cost is fine. The rooms are fairly basic but very clean and welcoming and I loved the natural stone floors in the bathroom. The only negative point about the room is that there is only one deckchair on the balcony of a room for two people. ||||We had vegetarian food for the weekend and it was superb. Portions were large and filling and the home made bread fantastic. All products are locally sourced, cheese, wine, honey, jams, and they try to grow most of their own vegetables. The restaurant area is clean and has incredible views but perhaps could do with something to give it a better atmosphere.||||The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and gave great advice on the various walks available. ||||It is a fantastic place to go to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I simply can't wait to go back!

I stayed at this hotel as part of a work trip with a large group of people. We had rented every room so had access to the whole hotel which is made up of a number of cabins and buildings located in a hamlet, high up in the mountains. The facilities are fabulous, with all rooms having views towards the mountains and valleys. This hotel is a B corp and this was evident in everything they did. I have stayed in many hotels across the world but this one is situated in one of the best locations I have ever seen with the most amazing views. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a different type of hotel, it’s more of a retreat. The are also great walks nearby and it is located close to the Verbier ski resort.

Every aspect of my stay at Montagne Alternative was positive. I went with a group in April 2017 for a weekend yoga retreat, and was pleasantly surprised by how well managed and special this place was. The rooms are stunning (I got to walk around and see almost all of them. There wasn't a single one that didn't live up to the high standards). Some have better views than others, as well as a bit more space. They were comfortable and unique (beautiful textiles and woods) and contributed to the peaceful environment. None of the doors lock, which is part of the open and laid back approach. The staff were kind and welcoming and always available to support whether we wanted anything from hot tea to advice on hiking paths. The food was healthy, fresh, and delicious, and they generously catered to many different diets and allergies. It was very easy to arrive here from Martigny train station (with a driver to pick us up). We are already looking for excuses to return.

We opted for Montagne Alternative to enjoy the mountains setting while avoiding the crowds in the ski resorts and we loved it. We chose to eat at the hotel's restaurant on the first night and to cook ourselves in the chalet on the other days. Given the village's location, it is recommended to plan all the meals in advance as there are no groceries options nearby (15mn by car to the nearest groceries store).|The chalet was very comfortable and beautifully arranged with generous spaces and amazing views. The couple in charge was very helpful and friendly. We loved our stay and hope to go back there to enjoy the peaceful energy of nature.

Delightful view and calm. Beautiful alpine accommodation. Good food and service. Great place to take a break and recharge. Several hiking trails start from the very place. (and if need be, they also have a good internet connection)

Spent 3 nights at one of the Chalets and it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the outside the Chalets are pretty nondescript but once you see the interior and the view, your mind will be blown. Just bring enough food and drinks (and toothpaste), everything else can be found in the chalet, which is pretty much equipped like a hotel.

We were 5 adults who met to celebrate my mother-in-laws birthday! The beautiful scenery is breathtaking and the renovated cottages are truly a great work of art. Unfortunately there were too many "hiccups" and faux-pas which left us very much disappointed and convinced we won't be back. My mother in law ordered in advance a meal other than the raclette, and was given a choice between meat or fish: she was served a bland fish served coldish, presentation left to be desired with tasteless accompaniment. The raclette was good, however we were obliged to pay for an extra "raclette" because they only serve for minimum 6 people. The service was very poor, considering that the man who did the raclette talked endlessly, trying to keep us entertained by talking the entire meal with no possibility for us to interact between us. We were unable to have one single conversation between us...unacceptable. |The chalet needs to improve certain things to justify the price paid: please unplug the sinks in the bathrooms, the couch in the living room may be vintage but needs a good cleaning, so does the green carpet in front of the fireplace which is just disgusting, not to mention the spider webs in the glasses, no keys to lock-up....You are overpriced for what you deliver: 65 CHF for a raclette + the extra 65 CHF for the raclette you need to pay for but didn't eat, and 65CHF for the equivalent of a "plat du jour"? Not to mention the cost for the chalet for one night!!! Come on guys, you're just going overboard and people don't like the feeling of getting ripped off. |Thank god the scenery is beautiful!!

Montagne Alternative offers an idyllic setting with simple but beautiful rooms with spectacular mountain views. From the moment of our arrival the service was truly top-notch, and the entire staff was very friendly. The breakfast was wonderful, offering fresh juices and amazing local breads, fantastic coffee (very important to me!!), fruit, cheese etc. Overall though, we were quite disappointed with the 2 dinners that we ate there (1 set menu and 1 a la carte). Food was obviously of good quality, but preparation did not meet our expectations. The chicken was over-cooked, for example, and the dessert was quite bland. My previous experience there for dinner meals was much better - maybe just bad luck this time. Nonetheless, we will return and would highly recommend this special place to others.
