MontCaribe Guest House

We stayed here one night on Feb. 3rd. We were very concerned that the hotel would not have our rooms available because we were arriving at 1:00 a.m. We were greeted warmly by Mario and he made us feel like we were family. All five us of were happy and very comfortable with our rooms. (They had brand new great air conditioners) The rooms were also modern and very clean. He explained that they were remodeling the units (after the two hurricanes) and making more improvements to the property. The service was fantastic and continued to be great even as we were checking out. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy with their service. It is a wonderful place and we were treated very nice by both Eric and Mario. We look forward to staying there again.

This hotel was dirty. The bathroom tiles had soap residue and black mold. There was also hair on the floor. The room floor was also dirty. You can tell they barely clean between guest. The mattress was extremely worn with a big dip which felt like I slept on a hammock. The staff was friendly. The area was a little sketchy. We had to park on the street since there was no designated parking lot for the hotel. I WOULD NOT recommend this place.

Great service from the second you walk through the front gate. Close to multiple restaurants and bars, 2 minute walk to the beach. Clean, comfortable and good rates. Special thanks to the staff Eric, Mario and Jessica; they went out of their way to make sure our stay was as comfortable and relaxing as possible, wouldn't even let me throw out my own trash. $7 Uber rides anywhere from the hotel. Would definitely stay again! Highly recommend!

We rented a guest house in Aguada decided to go to ocean park beach and was to tired to drive back so I booked a last minute room for my wife, daughter and I. If I could I would of stood here the whole week. The girls was amazing in hosting us the last minute. They had to get the room ready. We dropped our bags went to eat came back and all the blankets was fixed, they even swept and cleaned again after we left so much sand on the floor. We was going to clean it but they did it. Parking is not great but overall this place is great to be in San Juan and the price was fantastic. Thank you for accommodating us in the last min.

The MontCaribe Guest House is a great place to stay while exploring San Juan. Located in the heart of Ocean Park, it is within a walk to the best beach in town, the Kasalta bakery, the Ocean Park Cafe, and other restaurants and bars. The neighborhood is beautiful. There are tons of joggers and cyclists in the area. The room we stayed in was similar to a studio apartment: tile floors, a small balcony, a stove, refrigerator, air conditioning, and a basic bathroom. The staff is very friendly, and I felt very safe while I was there. The Guest House manager greeted us upon arrival and took us for a drive to point out great restaurants within walking distance. If you want to experience a laid back neighborhood vibe, stay here!

MontCaribe is a hidden gem. We stayed at the guest room for 7 days and were quite impressed. They are conveniently located 2 miles out of Condado so you can access all the touristy areas as well as get a feel of Ocean Park, without spending a fortune. You won’t get luxury amenities, but Angel and Maureen will go above and beyond to accommodate your basic stay needs. We highly recommend this guesthouse and will definitely be returning for our future trips to San Juan!

I booked 2 nights at montcaribe which is advertised as something better of what it is. One star motel. Check in was seamless but when we reached the room everything wasn’t as we expected. Pictures talk by itself. The room was nothing as it looked on the website. Towels were old and smelly, bugs, dirty bathroom, cheap bedding and no curtains for morning sunlight. This was probably my worse hotel experience ever, so bad we left after the first night and book a room somewhere else. I didn’t even bother to ask for a refund of the second night.

We flew into San Juan for a cruise. We decided to fly in a day early and stay a couple extra days afterward. It was our first time visiting San Juan, and we weren’t really sure where to stay. We found Mont Caribe online, and booked our stay. We found the accommodations to be comfortable, clean, and conveniently located. The local Uber’s were readily available within minutes of the location. It was so nice having the beach only a couple blocks away. The local dining at the surrounding restaraunts was a highlight for us - Kasalta bakery, Acapulco, and La Cueva Del Mar were particularly good! The staff were friendly and kind. Mario in particular went above and beyond to accommodate us, and we cannot emphasize our appreciation enough. Overall, it was always our intention to spend the majority of our time off-site and exploring the wonderful things that San Juan has to offer. We wanted accommodations that were affordable enough to not break the bank, but comfortable enough that we wouldn’t be hesitant to come back after a long day of exploring San Juan, and Mont Caribe delivered that experience. We would definitely visit again.

Absolutely LOVED this guest house! Mario and his crew were absolutely amazing, with the best customer service! We felt so welcomed from the moment he met us at the front gate. It is in a GREAT location, 10 minutes from San Juan, and surrounded by great restaurants. LOVED this place- will definitely return on my next trip to Puerto Rico!

This guest house is absolutely delightful! The room was clean and very comfortable and the staff was extremely helpful. Ashley have me great restaurant recommendations and Mario was happy to offer to get me an uber or taxi. The neighborhood is quiet but still near plenty of fun places including walking distance to the beach and plenty of delicious restaurants. I would happily stay here again!!!

I stayed several nights at Mont Caribe and it was perfect. The staff is amazing, especially Mario and he went out of his way to make sure our stay was fantastic. He gave us so much attention and was extremely helpful with recommendations and anything we needed. The location is perfect because it's only a 2 minute walk to Kasalta and you are right near the beach in Ocean Park. This is my 3 time to San Juan and so I knew the area, but now I def know where I will stay for all my future visits.

This place was perfect. Fernando was amazing and made sure we always had what we need. It is located walking distance to some amazing food, the beach, and a Walgreens which was super convenient. June 10 I had a reservation Expedia 7271541252262. I called earlier in the day to confirm but no response. When I showed up it was as if they really did not give a rat's derrière that they had no accomodations although I clearly had a reservation.

I don't have anything negative to say. The guest house and its manager Fernando made our trip to Puerto Rico even more amazing than imagined. The first day we arrived, Fernando greeted us with so much excitement, took our bags and then asked if we would like a tour of San Juan! He drove us around, gave us tips on where to go, what to see, where NOT to go, god food, etc. Once back from the tour we got settled into our room. He also upgraded us to a suite for the first 3 days no charge. The suite and the room we spent the remanding 7 days in were both more than enough. Comfortable. WiFi, clean, kitchenette, great location. 2 blocks from beach, 24 hers Walgreens behind, bars and cafés on each corner. Great location. Bus stop in front and back of guest house and for .75 you can take it to old san Juan, or whatever you feel like doing that day. We were sad to leave after our 10 days. Check in and check out was a breeze, and to top everything off, Fernando gave us a ride to the airport our last day so we wouldn't have to pay for a taxi :) seriously, the NICEST guy ever. Yea there are no bells and whistles but if you would rather spend your money doing fun things like the rain forest, caves, ferry to vieques, old san Juan, bars, shopping, go out to eat, etch. Then save your money on some fancy hotel and go with this quaint guest house. You won't regret it.
