"At this point, it’s safe to say Highland Park has the sandwich-counter-in-the-back-of-a-convenience-store concept on lockdown. Located inside the La Tropicana Market, Monte 52 is a tiny sandwich counter that’s serving everything from gourmet fried chicken sandwiches to housemade pickles to a breakfast burrito worth waking up early to eat. That said, our favorite thing on the menu is the Cuban - pulled pork, porchetta, gruyere, pickles and mustard all pressed to form a gooey, savory heaven. It’s a tremendous sandwich and one that’ll definitely keep you full until dinner. Also, no sandwich at Monte 52 is over $10." - Brant Cox

Great little sandwich shop/deli tucked in the back of the corner store. I've been coming to Monte since day one. They have transformed the corner and are now a staple. Sandwiches range from good to excellent. The menu changes every once in a while with current favorites being the cheese steak and fried chicken. French fries are great too now. Their veggie burger and salads were great and they have some cheese by the pound too. Thank you guys and keep up the good work!

Fresh Twisted Cafe is a great place to grab a fresh meal and healthy drink. I was very satisfied with the service, prices and overall portions and taste! What more can I say... just go and check it out yourself! One thing I wish they did is have a "better" location. It's a little run down but the "setup/idea" is great, very chill environment.

The most outrageously delicious sandwich ever!! I had the Reuben! The meat was juicy with crispy bits on the ends, on tasty rye bread with house made purple slaw/sauerkraut, house made pickles, melted cheese and creamy tangy mustard. 10.95, and well worth it. I'd got again in a heartbeat!!

Been coming here a little over 6 months. Everytime I'm in the area, I just have to stop by this shop. They also got a juice bar inside. Pulled BBQ Pork Sandwich, is hands down the best I've had in years. (I'm a self proclaimed BBQ pulled pork aficionado). The way they put together the food is crazy awesome. Get you a sandwich, a coke, sit down and enjoy the culture that Highland Park is known for. Great little find I will admit. Hope they stay here for years to come.

Though I am a long-time customer, Monte has been hugely disappointing the last several times I've gone. Most recently, it took nearly 40 minutes for my sandwich order to be completed, and, while I was waiting, I watched as both cooks handled food and cookware with their bare hands--no gloves, no washing in between orders, nothing. Absolutely unsanitary. Food has been largely hit-or-miss recently, as well. Sometimes orders (though they take over half an hour to make) are delicious, other times they are sloppily made and/or the order itself is wrong/it just tastes bad. Hope they get it together soon.

The two veggie sandwiches were amazing, and they had whole wheat bread, which made them healthy. Good job on serving food thats both good tasting and healthy. More restaurants need to pick up this trend and offer whole wheat grains, pastas, and breads. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Y'all are the best! We came by yesterday on a whim (and local lookup of yummy sandwich spots in the hood online) and we were not disappointed! IN FACT, we're heading back again today for a second round. The attached grocery store was helpful with drinks. The customer service was delightful. The neighborhood was sweet. And the sandwiches.......oh! The sandwiches are what is bringing us back again today! Thank you guys!

This place is the besssst! I come here way too often even though I don’t live in the neighborhood anymore. Delicious sandwiches and amazing staff, love their house kraut, hummus and smoked meats. Waited two years to review because I selfishly don’t want it to get too slammed but they deserve to be recognized.
