Monte Bello Pizzeria

INCREDIBLE! Visiting from out of town for work and looked up St Louis pizza spots on Reddit. WOW. Blown away! I had The Sandy. It was homemade Italian sausage, roasted tomatoes and garlic. Not to mention the generous amount of sausage on each square cut, but the amount of sauce and cheese was perfect. Thin crust that was the right amount of crisp on the edges. You could taste the freshness of this pizza and the high quality ingredients. I’ve never had anything like this. The make everything in order it comes in and sometimes that means you’ll wait 30 - 40 minutes for the pizza. Worth it for a truly fantastic pizza and to support local places like this. I found the old rustic basement it was in to be very homey and authentic. I’m a fan! Also the service is top notch. Be friendly and you’ll get an amazing experience.

Really unique location to get a classic pizza. It’s thin crust, but they don’t use Pro. We got the meat lovers pizza, and we used their Pizza passport. We went around 4 o’clock because we had tried to go another time and it was jammed. I would call ahead and get a reservation because that may help you get a spot. They probably have 15 tables, but it gets pretty busy at night, especially on the weekend The service was solid, they took care of us and get us out of there pretty quickly. They explained to us that they use antique ovens, so Pizza took about 30 minutes, but we were satisfied because we had a salad and some unique toaster ravioli that were different than what we were used to, but very tasty. We will definitely be back, and will probably try this takeout next time.

Someone brought leftovers to the bar. It is so good. I can’t wait to come try it in person. The crust and oil on top is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for the leftovers Rich. Definitely need this pizza 24/7 *UPDATE* Went tonight for my first time trying the pizza in person. We ordered the Monte bellos special. It was incredible. My favorite pizza in Saint Louis city. We walked down the stairs, and entered the basement door. Surrounded by laughter, and smiles, the aroma of freshly made pizza and buffalo sauce in the air. We had a few beers, a couple glasses of wine, described perfectly by our server Tanya. She was professional and a gold star sever. She kept our drinks full, smiles on our faces and explained the menu, history of the restaurant. The kitchen staff deserves a special place in heaven for their patience and expertise with the food they’re putting out. You can tell they genuinely have pride in the food they are serving us. I will 10000% be back. This place is a hidden gem.

This is the best pizza 🍕 in Saint Louis. Hands down. The service was great. Food was delicious. Must try spot. I thought Fortells was good, but Monte Bello's blew them out the water.

We ordered no onions on half of the pizza and the nice lady that called us to make sure we didn't have onion allergy... That was over and above great customer service. Been waiting to try this place for a looong time now and it was yummy too. Perfect seasoning and the crust was crispy and had a flavor I never tasted.

Best pizza hands down! The owners are amazing and serve the best pizza ever! My husband loves the breaded mushrooms. For those who love Italian food this is the place to go!

🗞️🍕💥 P.S.A. Discovered the oldest pizzeria in St. Louis currently operating (est. in 1950). Monte Bello Pizzeria is known for its pizza and homemade toasted ravioli, sausage and sauces. Check them out - we rated it as the best pizza and hidden gem in STL. We order 1/2 sausage & pepperoni and the other half bacon, onion and green pepper (delicious!) (PS, no provel cheese and yes it’s in a basement)

Was quoted 30 minutes for a table, three other partys walked in a sat down before us, after we have already been waiting 20 to 25 minutes, and then Waited on a table for 40 minutes , placed the pizza order when arrived waiting on the table. I understand it was very busy.. but the Pizza was burnt when it came out , not how it looks on other tables or the other reviews.. 1st time going there. Fiance had this place with his boss this week for delivery and wanted me to come try it with him in person.. no one asked how the pizza was, i didnt wanna have the pizza remade because we already waited all that time. Not sure if we will give it another try or not , also live 35 minutes away to come out here to try it. Edit : We rarely get date nights , and chose this place out of 500 other places to dine at. Edit REPLY TO THE COMMENT : and for you to know which pizza and which table i was talking about gives me no doubt you knew the pizza was not servable worthy because there was 5 other single couples in the building at the time. the pizza my fiance got wednesday was not burnt and didnt look bad as the one that was delivered to the table. The pizza didnt look like the pizzas on other tables and on the google review photos... the people sitting next to us even EYED the pizza we got delivered to our table. We simply kept the peace, paid, and left.. was not willing to waste more time getting it remade and more night wasted and more stress put on anyone else..
