Monte do Giestal - Casas de Campo & Spa

All the staff is amazing, always willing to help and always with a smile. The houses reflect the traditional Alentejo, with small details that together become huge. This is a place to rest and reset. The breakfast is more than enough, with a wide variety of fresh and homemade products. At night you can only hear the crickets and the toads. During the day you can walk through the property and see donkeys, sheep, a big variety of birds and a huge and super old cork oak that dominates the landscape.

Typical Alentejo villas, beautiful and photogenic, with a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for relaxing with the family. Nice staff, responsive via whatsapp. Large apartments with tv, air conditioner and large kitchen, good decor. Nice central pool, simple spa with indoor pool, we had 2 free entrances for 3 nights, above that there is a 15€ fee. Very good and varied breakfast, home made feel. Special plus: a large attached field with large cork oaks and plenty of nature for a walk. A minus we didn't like: cleanliness, some obvious signs of neglect such as a layer of dust throughout the gym or damp spots in the shower cabin; on one of the days the pool was very dirty in the afternoon, we sent them a message and they replied back saying they would only clean it again in the morning. The wifi didn't work well at our apartment. Some not acceptable points for the price and a 4-star. Not a great location, only a restaurant and small groceries store 10 min away. No activity by night.

Absolutely fabulous place with everything you need for relaxing. Good food and very friendly employees. Outside and inside pool, massage, steam bath, sauna and what not. Large Houses with all utensils and tools needed for a longer stay as well.

Wonderful stay for both parents and kids. Very quiet, with a nice interior and exterior swimming pools, a lot of outside area to wonder around, and a nice breakfast. The staff is very friendly as well.

Our third visit to Monte do Giestal, once again we had a wonderful time. The staff is great and the surrounding environment perfect if you want to spend some time in nature. Our only complaint is that some parts of the house need some maintenance, it was relatively hard to keep the house at a confortable temperature even with a fireplace and air-conditioning.

A very relaxing place as there really isn't anything to do...breakfast is tasty but simple and that is the only meal you can get here , you can order in from the menu but it may be a bit boring after a while so it's either shopping at the supermarket or late lunch as restaurants are not very close. Would I come here again no once you tried it it's like marmite love it or in this case dislike it... The staff are very pleasent and cheery 😀

The best place I have been so far in Alentejo (and I have been in many many places). The staff will make everything that is on their reach to make your stay memorable. The only downsize is that internet connection and mobile network is far from being stable and reliable but that is in the hands of the mobile operators unfortunately. If you decide to spend here some days, be prepared to disconnect.
