Lovely ride up the cliff face, it looks scary but it’s not the most difficult thing is getting on and off the seat. Enjoy your ride up the hill taking in some of the best views of capri and Italy main island. The ride takes around 5 mins. At the top of the hill you will have a small restaurant and toilet which is nice but pricey. The way up is better than the way down!

Google
Amazing cable car experience! The single-seat ride takes about 13 minutes each way and offers breathtaking 360-degree views — the sea, Naples, the surrounding mountains, and the entire bay. The ascent is peaceful and scenic, with every moment revealing a new angle of this stunning region. Reaching the summit feels like standing above the world, surrounded by beauty on all sides. Definitely worth it — one of the highlights of our trip!

Google
The wait is usually around 5 minutes and you can buy your ticket right on the spot, which makes it very convenient. The ride itself is a delight — single chairs give you a peaceful and scenic journey, with the views on the way back being particularly breathtaking. Once you reach the top, the panorama is absolutely spectacular. There’s also a small café where you can enjoy a coffee or grab a quick snack while taking in the view. This experience is absolutely worth it!

The Monte Solaro chairlift was a definite highlight of our trip to Capri. While the €28 cost for two people felt a bit steep, the experience itself was 100% worth it. The ride was just the right length—long enough to soak in the incredible views, but short enough to keep the little bit of a thrilling, scary feeling from becoming overwhelming. The panoramas from the top were truly amazing. A small but significant detail that stood out was the kindness of the restaurant staff at the top. They gave us coupons to use the restroom, which was a thoughtful gesture. It's a shame that after paying €28 for the ride, we would have had to spend another €2 to use a bathroom, but their action prevented that from becoming another frustrating, nickel-and-dime experience.

Google
Must visit when on Capri! We had one of the best views in our lives here, sea color was fantastic. Chair lift is an experience in itself, not dangerous and with amazing 360 degree views all the way up and down. Don’t be afraid! It closes early so plan in advance, but it’s really really worth it.

The Monte Solaro Chair Lift experience was one of the most beautiful moments of my trip to Capri. From the moment I sat on the seat and slowly ascended to the top, I felt like I was in another world, surrounded by breathtaking nature and unforgettable views. The ride to the top takes about 13 minutes, but they are minutes filled with tranquility, where you hear nothing but the sounds of birds and the gentle sea breeze. The view from the top is absolutely stunning. You can see the entire stretch of the Italian coastline, the crystal-clear blue waters, and the whole island of Capri from a magical panoramic perspective. At the summit, there is a small café where you can stop for a refreshing drink or a light snack while enjoying the view. What I also loved is that the experience is suitable for everyone—it’s calm, safe, and doesn’t require much physical effort. As for the wait time, it was very short; it only took a few minutes to get on, which made the experience even more comfortable and enjoyable. I highly recommend anyone visiting Capri to set aside time to go up Monte Solaro on the chair lift. It’s a unique opportunity to capture amazing photos and enjoy the beauty of the Italian landscape from a completely different perspective. For me, it was worth every minute, and I would definitely do it again on my next visit.

Google
Monte Solaro chair lift offers great views of the island and ocean. You get breathtaking aerial view of Anacapri and the buildings. Watch for the chair rail free floating front bars that don’t lock in place. So hold on tight and enjoy the view. A cafe awaits you up top of the cliff where you can order drinks, food and tea/coffee. You pay for toilettte facility. There’s a boutique for shopping but the highlight is the view from the cliff and a small garden. The rock formations in the ocean offer a spectacular view from top and you can also see Ischia and Naples at a distance. This is a must do activity in Anacapri.

Google
Good experience, the line for it was very long but went relatively quickly. I wish it had a tent or some covering because I felt like I was getting sun burnt. Other than that the view at the top is great and the experience is good. There is also a restaurant on the top I didn’t know about until I got there. Would recommend if you have two hours.

Yelp
A must if you are visiting Capri! Though if you are afraid of heights, this one may not be for you. It's a chairlift that is continuously moving, and it slows down a bit for you to hop on, where a moveable metal bar acts as your protection from falling out of the chair. Though I made that sound pretty terrifying, it seems relatively safe. As long as you're not shifting about while you're up there, which you probably wouldn't want to anyway. Seats are for single riders, unless you have a small child, in which case, they'll have to sit on your lap. Tickets are €11 one way or €14 round trip. But I can't imagine why you would buy a one way. Perhaps you can hike up/down? But I didn't see anyone doing that. It takes about 7 minutes each way, and we spent maybe 30 minutes at the top taking pictures/walking around. There is a little cafe at the top, and a toilet but it costs €1. If you want to see Capri from way up above, this is the thing to do!

Yelp
Not much to say about this except it is a load of fun to do. Line goes quickly. Beautiful sites along the way up. Incredible view at the top. Recommend toasting with some Prosecco at the café when you at the top. The ride down is even more breathtaking and fun that the ride up.

Yelp
We were really looking forward to this chairlift, and it didn't disappoint. I was a little concerned, because it had been a rainy, windy morning, but when we went after lunch, even though it was breezy, the chairs barely swayed, much less than a standard ski chairlift. It was actually very peaceful, floating over the green hills, looking out toward the ocean. Took some nice pics at the top. There's a little cafe up there if you want to get a bite to eat or drink. Rain clouds looked like they were returning, so we didn't dally too long. But really enjoyable experience, and just $14.

Yelp
You really might be insane if you come to the island of Capri and don't ride the lift to the top. It is so worth the line and it's only about €14 a person. The views are mind blowing. You see a mix of everything. From the yachts out at sea to women hanging laundry in their backyards. Vineyards on one side and the Mediterranean on the other. Admittedly, I don't usually love heights, but at no point have I ever felt unsafe or nervous. The views are staggering. The cool breeze perfect and the floral scents too delicious. All of the senses are almost overwhelming. Don't miss out on this. Just do it

Yelp
Don't come here if you're scared of heights. This is a chair lift that goes up and up. Italian style. When you get to the top expect some of the greatest views of your life and some food and gardens. Overall a crazy but rewarding experience.

Yelp
The chair lift is a wonderful serene way to see the highest point on the Isle of Capri in Anacapri. The view is beautiful with many opportunities to take photos high up on the island. Once you reach the top, there is a cafe to purchase a meal or snacks. The views from the top are exceptional. It is definitely one of the best land experiences on the island!
google avatar

Ginger L.

Yelp
The chairlift ride is really only a fraction of this experience. It's all about the views on views on views once you reach the top. The fact that you get to bypass a strenuous hike to appreciate it really is a sweeeeeeet bonus. And okay, yeah it's just kinda fun to sit in a swing for the ride. We saved a couple euros by purchasing tickets from our air bnb host, and didn't have to wait in a long line to get tickets for that reason so I would recommend trying to pre purchase. Because the only line really is to purchase tickets, once you're in queue for the lift it moves so quickly. At the top is a cafe with ice cream and wine and coffee and more. There are benches at different view point areas and restrooms too. We didn't eat at the cafe but we still managed to spend nearly an hour at the top just taking it all in. This is an excursion I would recommend setting aside 2 hours for at a minimum.

Yelp
We had a bit of a wait for this chairlift. Maybe 15 minutes. The views on a pretty day made it worthwhile. It was probably the highlight of my time on the island.
google avatar

Lynn M.

Yelp
Well worth it. I was a bit nervous about the chairlift as you are on it individually but it was fine and no problem getting on or off. The views from up here are amazing. You can see every direction. Absolutely stunning. There are not enough words to describe it. We spent about an hour up here and loved it. Would highly recommend if you are visiting Capri.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a one seat ski lift from the Anacapri square to the top of the mountain. It takes you to the top with breathtaking views in both directions. Highly recommend seeing the views at the top. One of a kind view and experience. The attendants will help you get in and off but if you've skied before, it will be no problem. Bathrooms at the top with also a bar/coffee shop.

Yelp
Well, you cannot beat this experience. I am from Bihar providence, India and we have a similar kind of lift in Rajgir too. Again, I am settled in NJ, USA and at seaside heights boardwalk, we have this but hardly at 10-20 feet height. This event was something else. Just wow. The easiest way to get to Monte Solaro is by chairlift. The journey to the summit of Capri's mountain takes just 12 minutes. Take the chairlift from Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri. You will get a bus from Capri every 15 minutes ( 5 euro pp) and it stops only a few meters away from the entrance. Get off when the driver calls out ''Anacapri" and climb up the steps which you'll find opposite the stop. If you decide to walk up to the summit, you can expect anything between an hour and an hour and a half ( 2km hike). But who wanna hike when you have this open chair lift The chairs on the chairlift are made for a single passenger. There is a safety bar, but it is easily lifted, yes for someone it can be dangerous and yes it can be for your kids, so mind it. This is not for faint-hearted. While going up, enjoy the splendid views of the Gulf of Naples with Vesuvius in the background, the Gulf of Salerno, Anacapri, the Isle of Ischia and the incomparable beauty of the color of the sea. Up and down is only 12 euro ( 9 euro single ride). Children under 7 ride free on their parent's lap. You ll never forget this experience
google avatar

David E.

Yelp
Yes. You must do the chairlift to the top. It's €12 round trip. Worth every penny. Great views the entire way. The way down can be a bit scary!
google avatar

Brendan S.

Yelp
A quick chair lift ride up to the top of monte Solaro. The Price wasn't bad, €10 for a round trip ticket and the views from the top were beautiful. I'd plan about an hour to take the lift, see the sites and take the lift back down.

Yelp
I'm generally not a fan of chair lifts because I have a fear of heights, but my husband insisted that I see the view. He wasn't wrong. It was quite gorgeous, but I had a panic attack on the way up. We waited in line to buy our €12 round-trip tickets. They're quite a smooth operation here, and I guess they have to be, for a tourist attraction. Don't wear sandals without straps... I had flip-flops and didn't lose them, but I was paranoid the whole time. Also I clung to my purse for dear life as the lift ascended higher and higher. Getting into the actual seat was the worst part because you really don't want to mess that up. There's one bar holding you in place. The views were incredible, though. Especially at the top, there are plenty of spots to take photos. Doesn't do it justice, but you can try. Have a drink, relax, and hope that it's not super hot when you go. (Hint: Bring sunscreen.) The line to get back down the mountain was longer but less nerve-wracking. Would I do this again? Probably not. Would I recommend it? Probably.

Yelp
Sure you could hike all the way up there yourself and work up a serious sweat. But I'd rather sit back and relax. My only wish was that we got to spend more time up here soaking in the beautiful 360° panoramic view. Touristy activity for sure, but I think it's worth the €11 round trip. They accept credit card! They actually never checked the ticket on my way down so I could have bought a one way for €8 (not that I would recommend the risk for only a few Euros). The line can get crowded but we went around 11AM on a week day and we were able to get on immediately. There is a single lap bar that secures you in but the seat is tilted backwards too. Our local tour guide, Lucca actually recommended we check this out but only gave us about 40 minutes. It would have been nice if the admission to this was included in our excursion price with Gate 1 since we had to pay for 2 additional ones that day! The relaxing single person cable car ride takes about 12 minutes each way. Imagine how long it would take you to hike all the way up there yourself?! The only sounds you'll hear is the gentle pulling of the cable car rope and nature around you (unless someone around you loses a shoe/hat). I risked losing my slip on Birkenstocks for the view. Some people carried their hand or bag. I missed the stray hats my SO spotted. Although I don't condone the preoccupation with selfie sticks, I think it is helpful to have a device with a lanyard so you can get your amazing shots without the fear of losing your precious device and other memories. Once we reached the top there are plenty of areas to take photos, free toilets, and an overpriced cafe! I'm sure the surcharge comes with the view. There are many spots to take photos. They have chairs and a tent set up on the patio for guests to enjoy an espresso or to relax on their swinging chairs. After a quick trip to the WC, snapping a few pics and rushing to drink my espresso it was already tie for us to take the return trip down. If I had more time at Anacapri I'd consider taking the cable car up again and hiking down in the future.

Yelp
Definitely worth the trip over to Anacapri (even better if you're already staying there!) We saw a few kids on the ride (probably good for kids 10 and up or so). It is like a ski lift where they would have to ride by themselves in a single chair with a small bar over the lap (though I saw one child riding in a parent's lap). Amaaaaaazing views from the top!! (And the ride up is fun too). Don't forget your camera!
google avatar

Veronica P.

Yelp
Loved this! You are never more than about 15 feet off the ground but you get beautiful views of the island. The only downfall is that it is only one person at a time. The line was out the door but it moves quickly so we only waited about 20 minutes.

Yelp
The Monte Solaro chairlift (aka: "Seggiovia del Monte Solaro") allows tourists to enjoy a gorgeous 360° panoramic view of Capri, Italy. Overall, the island of Capri is a bit of a tourist trap. Thousands of tourists take the ferry from the Amalfi Coast to Marina Grande each day to see the Blue Grotto and ride the Seggiovia Monte Solaro. During our visit in early May the tides were too high to see the Blue Grotto so we just had lunch and rode the Seggiovia Monte Solaro. The wait for the bus to Anacapri can be almost an hour (if not longer) so if you are in a rush and want to avoid the lines I would suggest spending a little more money and taking a taxi to the chairlift. The chairlift is a thirteen minute ride from Anacapri to the top of the mountain, Monte Solaro and the cost is €10 roundtrip or €7 one-way if you chose to hike up or down the mountain. Once riders reach the top of Monte Solaro they are rewarded with amazing views of Capri and the Faraglioni (rock stacks). TIP: The weather is much cooler at the top of Monte Solaro so you may want to wear a jacket on the chairlift.

Yelp
Oh my goodness! While visiting the island of Capri, this is a must! Our tour guide dropped us off at the Mount Solaro chairlift in town and we had no idea what we were in for. Slowly, in single-occupancy seats, you climb up a steep mountain with breathtaking views of the island and the impossibly blue water below. Your legs literally dangle over backyards, houses, and rough terrain. You feel as though you are a bird soaring over Capri, one of the most beautiful places in the world. When you arrive at the top, the views are staggering! I've been to all seven continents and countless countries, but this is surely among my top ten places to visit! And that's saying something!!! Below, a plethora of yachts owned by the rich and famous navigate the bay like tiny fish. From here, you can take the perfect picture of the instantly recognizable Faraglioni (huge rock formations rising out of the ocean) that define Capri. As soon as you see them, you'll recognize them from photographs. There are ample refreshments at the top including sandwiches, drinks, gelato, and ice cream bars. The bathrooms are very clean. I'm jaded and hard to impress after fifty years of worldwide travels, but this definitely caught my attention! I do not have acrophobia, but I do get slightly nervous with extreme heights in less-than-secure situations. But the chairlift up the mountain was no problem. Unless you're incredibly paranoid of heights, you'll love this!!!
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
12 minute ride each way. It's your typical touristy activity, but the views are breathtaking. That said there are lots of spots to take in beautiful views on Capri, so I wouldn't say you absolutely have to check out this attraction. At the top there is a little snack bar and I believe you can hike your way down if you don't want to chair lift it back.

Yelp
Awesome way to spend your day or half a day depending how much time you got in Capri. Around way lift ticket costs 10 euros as of September 2015. On top of the Monte Solaro - get some coffee, wine, local cakes. Surprisingly doesn't cost that much pretty same priced as the town of Capri and Anacapri. Definitely recommend but try to make it around noon or after somewhere around 12-2 much less crowd and noise ;)
google avatar

Joy N.

Yelp
In the heart and literally across the street from the main statue in Anacapri is the Seggiovia Monte Solaro lifts. If you sit the island of Capri and Anacapri this is a must do. Make sure you do the round trip, the lift drops you off at the top, at your leisure you will see and be able to take your time to take photos in what I think is some of the best views of Italy's islands.
google avatar

Sophie L.

Yelp
For a 20 minute ride with the greatest panoramic views of Capri, it is well worth approx 11 euro to get a round trip chairlift around Ana-Capri. Touristy but won't break the bank, and this is the only chairlift I've gotten on in Europe as I don't like skiing.
google avatar

Charlie M.

Yelp
This was exhilarating! The most peace and serenity I've had on-this entire trip. Do yourself a favor and pay the 11 Euro round trip. It's worth every penny. This alone was worth the trip to Anacapri.

bobbi B.

Yelp
Best views and very entertaining. It was cloudy at top but still worth it 10 round trip and excellent views of island and area. If you are affraid of heights no worries at tops you are 20-30 feet from ground on most parts. Bring light jacket in am gets a little chilly towards top. Single seat riding but very secure. Person on each end assist you so no worries for those with walking issues Take bus 1.80 cost to anacapri then take go left upstairs to purchase tickets. Approx 15 minutes up to top. You can hike down but is somewhat steep in places
