We only had vegetable soup, a melted cheese sandwich and a coffee. The soup was okay, it would have benefitted from leaving in a few chunks instead of being completely puréed, the bread could have been served with some butter. A lot of the windows were open so to me it was a little breezy instead of cozy but that might just be me. The sandwich was a bit basic, just melted cheese and a single tomato on the side, a bit bland. Coffee reasonable, looked nice but a little lacking in flavour. Our server was the most welcoming we have experienced in the whole of our visit to Madeira, so that's a plus. The price was very reasonable, another plus. I didn't try any bigger dishes, which might have been better, but I have to say I probably wouldn't rush back unless all the other local offerings were worse. Also I would add that we were offered a complete menu of different teas, and as a tea drinker I might well have enjoyed this choice were it not for the fact that I was in the mood for coffee, so if you're a tea aficionado, this may swing it for you.

Lovely little cafe, picturesque and quiet in a nice way. Lovely decor and attentive service. Calming atmosphere would recommend this cafe of all places in Monte

Nestled in the charming village of Monte, high above Funchal, the Monte Tea House is a hidden gem that offers a delightful escape from the bustling city below. I had the pleasure of visiting this enchanting establishment on Friday, January 17, 2025, and I can confidently say it was an experience to remember. Ambiance and Setting As you approach the Monte Tea House, located at Ramps da Sacristis 1, you're immediately struck by its picturesque setting. The tea house exudes a quaint charm that perfectly complements the surrounding lush greenery and stunning panoramic views of Funchal Bay The interior is warm and inviting, with a cosy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Culinary Delights The menu at Monte Tea House is a tea lover's paradise. With an impressive selection of teas and infusions, each cup is a journey of flavours I opted for a very tasteful hot chocolate and my wife chose a very good coffee, both were expertly prepared and served with care. To accompany our hot drinks, we indulged in their meal of the day, we had a gratin made of cod fish and potatoes, with a side salad. The portions were very good, and the meal was very tasty, which were nothing short of exceptional. Service and Hospitality What truly sets Monte Tea House apart is its impeccable service. The staff are not only friendly and attentive but also knowledgeable about their tea offerings. They went above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience, offering recommendations and sharing interesting titbits about the local tea culture. The price’s in Monte Tea House, are also more than acceptable. Overall Experience Monte Tea House is more than just a place to enjoy a cup of tea; it's a destination that offers a complete sensory experience. From the breathtaking views to the delectable treats and warm hospitality, every aspect of my visit was thoroughly enjoyable. Whether you're a tea enthusiast or simply looking for a tranquil spot to relax, Monte Tea House is a must-visit when in Funchal. In conclusion I wholeheartedly recommend Monte Tea House to anyone visiting Madeira. It's a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comfort, offering an authentic taste of Madeiran hospitality. Don't miss the opportunity to create your own cherished memories at this delightful tea house in the clouds.

Lovely, tranquil and cosy tea house. High quality herbal tea blends and delicious home baked cakes. In the shadow of the Our Lady of the Mountain church. Prices were surprisingly low for the location and quality. Recommended!

An absolute joy, nestled next to the Church in Monte. Relaxed atmosphere, quiet location, amazing and friendly staff, and the most delicious homemade cakes you can imagine! This was a genuine highlight of our visit to Monte and Funchal. We enjoyed beer, cider, and soft drinks along with cinnamon rolls and gorgeous strawberry yogurt cake.

It's a very calm place with some lovely decorations and the nicest service. We got to try a traditional cake for epiphany (3 Kings'), which was, of course, delicious. One of us found the "bean" (fève), and then the chef came and explained to the entire restaurant the tradition behind it, whilst giving us some laughs. The food was immaculate, nonetheless there (unfortunately !) wasn't much of it left😅
