Montebello Villa Hotel

We had a wonderful experience during our stay. Everyone was extremely helpful, and it is clear that guest experience is a top priority. The housekeeping team did an excellent job, and most of the staff were consistently polite, attentive, and welcoming.||Our two kids especially enjoyed the playroom, which was one of the highlights of their stay. It is very evident that this hotel truly values families and makes a genuine effort to create a welcoming environment for children, which is very important to us as parents.||This was our second time staying at Montebello, and we will definitely be coming back. We also had the chance to enjoy the Sinulog event held at the hotel—it was very well organized and executed. Overall, a superb experience from start to finish.

I stayed there for a week. It's near a small older mall. The staff, pool and restaurant are great. They nearly doubled their room prices. Maybe they are getting a lot of weddings and convention business. The rooms are small. I never had hot water and need remodeling. There are much nicer modern hotels in better locations for less money.

We chose this hotel for its tranquil setting and positive reviews as a last night before leaving Cebu. We were not expecting to stay in a night club. When I phoned to ask what time the event was expected to finish we were told 9:30, then 10, then…. story goes on. Finally we had to switch rooms, having been up since 5am and travelled down from Malapascua, any chance of rest and relaxation before our flight home was completely out of the window - just like the nightclub. Would highly avoid staying here if you actually want to sleep.

Our stay at Montebello Hotel was relaxing and pleasant. The location is quiet and peaceful, perfect for resting away from the busy city. The atmosphere is calm, surrounded by beautiful greenery that makes the place feel refreshing. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. We would also like to commend Angie, one of the staff who served us—she was very kind, attentive, and accommodating, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, the service and experience offered great value for money. Highly recommended for a stress-free and comfortable stay.

I started the year with a staycation at Montebello Villa Hotel, and overall, it was a very pleasant and memorable experience. The hotel is conveniently located at the back of Gaisano Country Mall, which made errands and shopping easy before check-in. Check-in was smooth, and once inside the hotel grounds, the atmosphere immediately feels calm and charming, with well-maintained gardens and a distinct old Filipino-Spanish aesthetic. Despite being an older hotel, Montebello is clearly well-loved and still very active—during my stay, there were multiple events happening, including a debut and a birthday celebration. The rooms are basic but comfortable, and the staff were accommodating throughout the stay. Dining options within the hotel are solid: Liu Dynasty offers an elevated Chinese dining experience, while La Terraza serves quality sugba dishes on Thursdays and Fridays. One of the highlights of the hotel is the gardens. Walking around the grounds was peaceful and relaxing, and it genuinely felt like a getaway from the city. This is especially impressive given that the hotel is located right next to a busy mall and street, yet the noise is barely noticeable. Breakfast on the second day had a wide variety of choices, including both Western and Filipino dishes. The buffet selection included bacon, eggs, waffles, pancakes, beef tapa, and even ratatouille, which is uncommon for hotel breakfast buffets. The breakfast area itself felt warm and cozy, making for a relaxed dining experience. After breakfast, the grounds continued to be a highlight, particularly the pond and bridge area with lotus plants, as well as the bougainvilleas around La Terraza. These areas are great for walking, relaxing, and taking photos. One minor downside was item availability when ordering food and drinks. A few items were unavailable during my stay, and when attempting to order lunch by the pool close to checkout time, some menu items had already run out. This made it difficult to dine at the hotel before the 12 PM checkout. Overall, Montebello Villa Hotel is a great option for a relaxing staycation within the city. It’s especially suitable for guests who enjoy gardens, a quieter atmosphere, and convenient access to nearby amenities. I would happily stay here again.

The Sinulog buffet was definitely worth it, and I truly enjoyed watching the Sinulog dance performance because it was very lively, colorful, and full of energy. The atmosphere made the whole experience even more memorable. I also appreciated the excellent service, especially from the waiter named Carl. He really took good care of us, was very attentive to our needs, and showed genuine hospitality throughout our stay, which made the experience even better.

Worst hotel experience: 1. False advertising – the room did not match the description. 2. No bedsheet provided – we were forced to sleep directly on a dirty, stained mattress. 3. Hygiene unacceptable – mattress condition was shocking; completely unsanitary. 4. Management denial – management later claimed my report was “false,” even though their staff saw the mattress themselves. 4. Evidence ignored – I showed photos and videos, yet management still refused responsibility. 5. Customer service failure – zero accountability, no apology, no solution offered. 6. Forced to escalate – I had to personally visit the DOP (Department of Tourism) to file a formal complaint. 7. DOP investigation now underway – authorities are currently looking into this hotel. 8. The garden is booked for wedding parties, which makes it impossible to sleep. Overall experience – one of the worst, most frustrating hotel stays I’ve ever had. DO NOT STAY THERE!

The experience was unforgettable thanks to the attentive personnels, especially Sir Carl. The food was also great and scrumptious, it really did fill our stomach and stimulated our appetite. But the cherry on top was the ambiance of the place, it felt like dining in a different city.
