Montebelo Vista Alegre Ílhavo Hotel (Ílhavo, Centro) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The central Portuguese city of Ílhavo is said to have been settled by the ancient Greeks; of more recent significance is the connection with Vista Alegre, a porcelain maker with 200 years of local history. Montebelo Vista Alegre Ílhavo Hotel is a partnership between the ongoing Vista Alegre concern and the Montebelo Hotels & Resorts group, and is a part of Vista Alegre’s local campus, along with the old factory, which is now a museum memorializing Vista Alegre’s history." - Tablet Hotels

We were passing through Aveiro and wanted to treat ourselves with a stay at a 5 star hotel. Sadly it did not live up to the expectations at all... When we had checked in and arrived to our deluxe suite, there were drilling noises and vibrations from an ongoing renovation on the same floor. As we wanted to get outside, we didn't really mind it but still clocked it with a sigh... At night, the hotel checked in some people around half past midnight who were allocated to the room next door from us. As the walls were thin between the rooms, it was impossible to sleep as our new neighbours decided to "keep the party going" in their room and on their balcony. After complaining three times including phoning down to the reception, that was quite rude and non-problem-solving-oriented and even going down there physically, the hotel finally helped us switch rooms. The next morning, we were quite upset as we checked out of the room. The hotel tried to compensate us with a free night, but as we were leaving Aveiro and had no intentions to stay longer, they refunded our entire stay. As much as we appreciated it, we had hoped for a better experience. We won't be returning to this hotel as we neither found the town nor the accommodation very satisfying. Breakfast: 3/5 Rooms: 3/5 Staff: 3/5 Pool area: 2/5

PEOPLE! I just have to tell you guys! They have the best duvet covers/sheets I've ever felt, seriously. I looked up the brand, its a portuguese cotton brand, but my Lord... I never felt such material and I still dream about it. The bed was stunning, the room was clean and just the overall ambience is really nice. I liked the food in the restaurant as well.

The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking a river and part of a porcelain factory. The décor is very beautiful and contains a lot of porcelain. There is a museum and two shops on the premises that shows and sells porcelain, well worth a visit.||The hotel is classed as a 5-star hotel but doesn’t live up to its classification. We were upgraded to a suite, which was very nice, but had to wait 30 minutes for someone to show us the directions to our room. The direction was made by a young boy who didn’t know how long it would take to get to the hotel, didn’t know where we should park and couldn’t drive us in the buggy since he didn’t have a driving license. After standing for 10 minutes and trying to get an answer from him we started walking and found the room only 3 minutes’ walk away…||The room was nice and quite large but not really cosy. It had a small outdoor seating area from where you could see the river standing up, but also the carpark.||After settling into our room, we went to the pool bar for some sandwiches. After waiting for 30 minutes, we asked for our sandwiches and they had forgotten about them, at that time we were the only guests at the bar. The pool bar was the only open bar during daytime (the second bar opened 7PM) and had very limited offerings. No draught beer at all and only very small glasses of sparkling wine, to mention two things.||We hade breakfast the first day about an hour before closing time and almost everything on the buffet was empty or nearly empty and it took long time (or never) for the staff to refill. There were a lot of tables around us that didn’t get cleaned for our stay at the breakfast.||Later that day we explored the surroundings and the hotel called around 3 PM and asked if we wanted our room cleaned. We had left a sign on the door and all, but one, towels on the bathroom floor and was really surprised by the question. On the second day our room was cleaned but not until after 4 PM (and we had left a sign on the door since 10 AM).||Breakfast the following days did not improve and neither did the pool bar (there weren’t any other restaurants or bar nearby).|All in all, a nice looking hotel in a somewhat remote location but more a 2 to 3-star experience.

Amazing hotel and service at the hotel. Room was great and the complex is amazing. Would however add more charging car stations.

This is a lovely hotel, but fell short of a 5 star experience for the following reasons: - reception often didn’t not answer phone calls despite trying multiple times. - when they did answer they often understood the request incorrectly and so we had to keep calling to correct errors - we were in room 101, which is closest to the bridge which makes an absolute racket all day and night, like a train going by, so sleep was disturbed. Despite them knowing about this problem and having several complaints they still give this room out - there was no internet connection in the room and even the so called working / business spaces in the hotel - breakfast was nice but chaotic, with many items often running out, during busy times they need a second area for to cope - no visibility of any hotel manager - despite putting a request for room to be cleaned this didn’t happen on one day Generally staff were very pleasant and kind, spa and pool facilities nice

Wonderfull stay at Montebelo Vista Alegre. Stayed in a 2 bedroom. Large with full kitchen. Breakfast was wonderful and both outdoor and indoor pools are relaxing. Service at reception, restaurant and pool bar was exceptional. Would give 6 stars. Beach about 10 minutes away. Complimentary tickets to Vista Alegre museum.

Wow! The rooms! Easily the best hotel in the Aveiro area. The view of the Ria is beautiful, quiet and peaceful. The hotel is very nice, indoor and outdoor pool, very well decorated, and a style of its own. The breakfast buffet is very very good, and included. The service is good, not excellent, I didn’t have any problems, just didn’t get the extra mile. But the rooms are the real star - modern, spacious and very well decorated. If you’re in the area and looking for a place to stay, I’d definitely recommend.
