Montem Guest House

Montem Mini:||||Negative:||The communication, information provision, and problem-solving skills of the property management and staff were substandard.||||The accommodation cost for our 1.5-year-old child, without the provision of a crib, was higher than that of an adult.||||Positive:||The location of the house and the quality of the new construction were outstanding. It had a private parking space with a direct view of the ski slope.

They forgot the reservation which was made at the begining of January. It was already prepaid. We were waiting for this weekend since month. We called them 5 days before arrival just to inform them we would like to taste their famous dinner. The told that the kitchen is closed, it is not available. The did it without any sorry. Also the jacuzzi was not working. Poor service

I went with my family for Skying to the Matra Mountain at Sipark.hu and decided staying over 1 night with my husband and children. We absolutely loved it!! The guesthouse is very cozy, the decoration is Rustic - Modern, very unique! The rooms are beautiful and spacious we also could have our children in a separate room with a door in between the rooms. They served us a delicious dinner and a Hungarian typical Buffet breakfast, the service was great! I wish I would have brought my bathing suit to use the Sauna. I would love to go back again once. I would definitely recommend it!!

Pros: it is a brilliant hidden gem outside of the small village, away from noise and destruction. It has only 7 rooms (6 on upstairs and 1 on the ground floor), so it offers you a unique feeling because of the few fellow travelers. it is at the edge of a forest, quiet, adult-friendly (no kids, no noise) paradise. their webpage is simple and good, the staff is outstandingly friendly and helpful. Food is local and tastes perfect. Good for friends and romantic resting, ski fields on the adjacent hill, and surrounded by hiking routes. ||||Cons: the road quality is poor in Matra, with loads of potholes (sometimes craters, no-joke) We found road 21 in better quality (via Paszto). The last few hundred meters to the Hotel is on a dirt road (or at least not on asphalt, for sure). We have been there in mid-February and the mud was manageable by the car (up-hill), but I was not comfortable to step into it the mud with that street-shoes of mine. They have enough parking slot, but it is still in the dirt (mud). The ground floor room is next to the jacuzzi and sauna which could be busy and you might experience traffic in front of your room's window (lack of privacy). ||||Sum up: recommended!

We stayed at Montem guesthouse September 2017 and enjoyed our visit in this serene location. The guesthouse itself is very pleasant, like something out of a Pinterest board, however we found the rather basic amenities a drawback. ||||Breakfast and dinner are served promptly, and the food is very good. The staff leave as soon as food is served, though self-service is available for wine if required. ||||The decor is very stylish, with a two-way fireplace and rustic theme of polished concrete and grey hallways complimenting the laid-back jazz playing throughout. For a nice, quiet, discrete getaway this is a nice place to go. ||||The rooms themselves seem basic. There is no real facilities for washing clothes or ironing. A small wetroom per room suffices but for an upmarket guesthouse we had expected more. For example, there is a sauna, but you must ask for the owner to turn it on, a 45-minute chore. ||||I would recommend Montem to a few friends, those with similar tastes as mine. Many people I think will find the decor 'too much', though the hiking nearby is excellent. This is not a family-oriented guesthouse and is built very much as a couples retreat.

We have been looking for a venue for our small wedding that is unique, has good quality food and has nice views. Montem has it all! The food is delicious, really good quality and presented well. The staff is always helpful, friendly and very flexible, which is extremely important especially when organising a wedding. They accommodated all of our needs and went above expectations. We couldn't be happier, thank you Montem for everything and keep it up! :)

Very good place for relaxing, in the heart of nature. The staff (a young couple) is very kind! The whole building and our room has modern and natural style.|Plus point: the food. My opinion: yummy..yummy…. Wow. Extremly delicious. Much better what i expected.Fine dining.

Loved the place, very stylish rural boutique hotel in the heart of Matra mountains, North Hungary. Home-like feeling, kids not allowed, guaranteed privacy in the sauna and bar. Nice places to visit (in terms of forest walks) and really excellent food. Thank you :)
