Montemar - Galapagos Eco Luxury Villas for Groups & Families

My trip to Galapagos Island was truly unforgettable thanks to the family own resort of Montemar. From the moment I arrived I felt welcomed and well cared for. Rayna and Roberto went above and beyond to make sure our experience was truely magical. By the end of the week I felt like they were family. Their staff was always available to serve us food that was outstanding. I could feel the love in every detail that was planned to make our experience memorable. I can’t wait to return to such a magical place. If you are going to experience Galapagos Island you must experience Montemar!

Montemar is a truly special place on a very magical island. Reyna and Roberto are world-class hosts for whom no detail is too small. They graciously cater to your every need and are generous in sharing their knowledge about the islands and the importance of conservation. It was fascinating to hear how they transformed their property into the oasis that it is. The setting is incredible, with gorgeous accommodations, 5-star food, an incredible staff and the famous Galapagos tortoises everywhere! There's also horses, cows and an adorable goat, plus a coffee plantation and a garden that provides the freshest, most natural and delicious fruits, veggies and herbs!

Montemar is pure magic! Roberto & Reyna and the staff are some of the warmest, most attentive people I’ve ever met — they make you feel like family from the moment you arrive. The resort itself is stunning: peaceful, beautifully designed, eco- conscious and surrounded by extraordinary wildlife. The grounds are so thoughtfully cared for - including the organic garden and coffee plantation, and the yoga shala is an absolute dream for anyone who loves to practice in nature. And the cuisine? Truly exceptional — fresh (often right out of the ocean & garden), creative, beautifully presented and delicious always. This is my second year here, and I can’t wait to return again!

Of course Montemar looked great online and was touted by the travel company (Jacada) that put together our itinerary, but we couldn’t imagine how much better than that it actually was. 5 isn’t nearly enough stars.||It’s starts with the owners Raina and Roberto, who couldn’t have been warmer, amazingly accommodating and willing to share their knowledge and love of the place they created and the Galapagos. ||The staff took great care of us. The lodge was beautifully designed immaculately clean. Chef Juan never disappointed and almost all of the vegetables we consumed came from their incredible organic garden.||The tortoises love the property as well… there are hundreds of them there !||Just go !!

Enough can't be said about this amazing place on the side of the volcano that is Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos! We arrived at this wonderful establishment that was carved out of the invasive overgrowth of blackberry vines and more by our host Roberto and Raina and who have created this eco luxury resort on 40 Acres (?). It is adorned with 2 amazing villas, their home, a yoga studio, a coffee plantation and an impressive organic garden that supplies most of the fresh produce you eat at all the meals and snacks every day and adorn the evening cocktails they serve. The all wild space is covered with giant tortoises a group of wild horses and a huge variety of birds and flora and fauna famous for and generally exclusive to areas of the Galapagos.|The accommodations are first class, beautifully appointed with all modern appointments and constructed of all local Galapagos construction materials. The food prepared by Chef Juan and his staff was second to none! Beautiful dishes prepared with all local ingredients or caught in the surrounding waters that celebrated the Ecuadoran cuisine and local dishes of the Galapagos and food the owners and staff grew up with, all in all a varied and generous first class gastronomique experience!|They prepared a varied schedule of events and experiences designed for us that kept us busy and fulfilled. Roberto and Raina educated us about the islands their properties history and the local wild indigenous residents which was all we could ask from this unique and special opportunity!||Montemar is an absolute must for those looking for a unique and very special destination. The home base for a portion of your Galapgos adventure if you are lucky enough to get to this most unique and special place on earth!

Stayed at Montemar as part of a Travel Yogi retreat. The accommodations were impeccable! Renya and Roberto have thought of every detail to make your stay amazing. Chef Juanito and the staff anticipate your every need and the food is as amazing as the property! This is a very special place that reminds you to slow down, immerse yourself with nature, and to truly embrace all that the Galapagos has to offer in a five star accommodation!

A magical setting in the highlands of Santa Cruz Galapagos where tortoises, finches, and semi-wild horses roam. The excellent coffee (and teas) made a perfect accompaniment to flavorful nourishing meals prepared with the freshest local ingredients. The rooms are very clean snd cozy with comfy beds, fluffy pillows, an outdoor hammock and lounge chair, robes and slippers, and nightly turndown! It is very peaceful with dark star-filled skies and the sounds of nature. An outdoor yoga shala overlooks the splendor of the land and is visited by finches. The organized tours around the Galapagos for hiking snd snorkeling were superb and far beyond expectations. And our hosts, Reyna and Roberto along with their caring and talented small team, made us feel at home for the week that went at tortuga-pace and then was suddenly over. Dreaming of returning soon…

It’s hard to express how wonderful this place is! Roberto and the team at Montemar provided an EXCEPTIONAL stay and made us feel like family. Unfortunately, Rayna was out of town for a family matter, so we did not get to meet her, which just means we will have to return for another stay. The attention to detail from the property management, experiences, wildlife, sustainability, conservation, coffee, farm to table food, and hospitality are unmatched. The property is the perfect place to take in the beauty of the Galapagos Islands and relax. Additionally, Luis provided such amazing excursions, which was even better due to his expertise about the islands.
