Monteverde Butterfly Gardens

Amazing experience with our guide Alexia! She was absolutely lovely and answered all of our questions with great enthusiasm and knowledge. The butterfly garden was amazing, and we learned so many interesting things about butterflies and insects. A very educational and enjoyable visit, I highly recommend it!

Had the pleasure of working directly with Bryna for a Nature Journaling tour. The knowledge of the interns, the biodiversity represented, and the trails we could walk were all fantastic. We're already planning on doing another trip there next year focused on journaling butterflies.

Great place to see butterflies and learn a lot about them (and other insects)! Best is to visit in the morning and on a sunny day, the butterflies are a lot more active. After buying a ticket you can always come back for "free" another day.

One of my fave activities in Monteverde! The volunteer staff are very knowledgeable and passionate about entomology and everything butterflies! The tour starts with an interesting info section on a variety of native insects, then you are lead through 4 butterfly enclosures. With your ticket, you can continue to wander around the enclosures after the guided tour at your leisure, and also return later the same day if desired :)

Tour of the gardens was very informative, learnt a lot about the various wildlife native to the area, including tarantulas, scorpions, and of course butterflies.

We loved our stop here. Our guide endeared me to beetles & roaches, which I consider to be quite a feat. Seeing them & the tarantulas was very cool but the butterflies remained the stars of the show. It’s so magical to be in the same space as them flying, swooping and gliding around.

Great little place with a lovely guide who made you change your mind about some of the more challenging insects on show. The butterflies were absolutely beautiful.

Alexa was an excellent tour guide, she had great enthusiasm and was a pleasure to chat with. She is very knowledgeable and we had a very nice tour of the bugs and butterflies!
