Montevideo Metropolitan Cathedral

The principal cathedral for the City of Montevideo — a beautiful and serene place for contemplation, prayer and worship. Accessible from the Plaza de la Constitución (aka Plaza Matriz).

Very nice cathedral in the city that is well maintained and impressive in it's architecture. Well worth the quick stop in just to see it.

A very beautiful cathedral. Had a privilege of attending a good Friday mass there. was really a blessing . very well maintained church although quite old. in the heart of Montevideo city,

Our second tour stop. The inside far outshone the inside with an impressive altar/centerpiece, ceiling and statuary. I was especially impressed by the monument with all of the figures (disciples?) carved on the outside.

It's the most beautiful church I've ever been to in my entire life. It's spectacular. Lots of works of art in sculpture.

Entry Free of charge - donations welcome Since I love churches, this one has pleased my eye. The church was named "Matriz" antes. It's a Catholic church which deserves to be visited. Two things struck my mind: in front of one of the side altars a modern sculpture from presumably lasered glass was erected and second, in the main Altar area the Uruguayan Flag was shown alongside what I recognised as the Vatican flag.

Beautiful and very peaceful cathedral. Great for visit and to know part from the History of Uruguay. It is one of "must visit" places for tourists in Montevideo. Recommended.
